Description

Recently renovated, ponderosa pines galore...what’s not to love about Paliza Family Campground? Sites are located below sandstone cliffs in Lower Paliza Canyon and to pay homage to its history, there are still original Civilian Conservation Corps lean-tos and adirondack shelters on the premises. There are plenty of recreational opportunities on or near the campground and the views of an ancient volcanic crater from Cerro Pelado Scenic Overlook isn’t something you’ll want to pass up.

We had a wonderful time camping here! The vault toilets were the cleanest ones I have ever seen and the campground hosts were friendly and helpful. It is a gorgeous campground with a creek running through it.

Exceptionally clean and we'll maintained. Off the beaten path but not too far off. Stunning location and views! 30 total sites with 8 sites located in a generator free area so great for noise and exhaust avoidance. 3 sites that are a very short walk in over picturesque foot bridges. 3 sites that have historic lean to's (cabins) built in the 1930's. Pueblo ruins, gravesites and the Goblin Colony are all easily accessible by short hikes. Verizon wireless coverage. The Paliza campground also has a group site containing 2 separate loops. These are located 1/2 mile from the family campground keeping noise down. The larger of these group sites has a covered pavilion with 8 tables. Both loops have spectacular views of cliffs , sunsets and stars!
