Staying here was an incredible experience like no other. Gary and his wife met us upon arrival and provided very easy directions. Site was flat and spacious and the sunset and sunrise was amazing. The night sky was stunning but we didn’t see any UFO’s. The highlight of our stay was the tour and fascinating history Gary provided (who has considerable and knowledge in his career working with such missile silos across the country. Truly amazing and highly recommended. We knew it would be great but exceeded all of our expectations.

I camped at the Silo site and had a wonderful time with Gary. He really knows his stuff and the site is incredible!! Most unique stay I've ever stopped at in my travels, I HIGHLY recommend a stop here.

Pro tip: If camping, bring a mallet to drive stakes, the ground is a bit rocky. ;)

We had a great time! Gary taught us all about the history of the Atlas F missile silos, and took us on a tour of the facility. What an amazing piece of history. Next time we'll stay at the AirBNB inside of the old control room!

Staying at the silo was one of the most unique experiences in my life. Gary gave us a really cool tour of the facility and camping up top was beautiful. On a clear night, the stars were absolutely amazing.

I normally get to camps around dark, usually a little later. I arrived here at around 5:30-6. I walked around trying to reach someone for about 30 minutes after I arrived. I then pitched my tent since I was obviously at the correct place. After talking with the host on the phone I was informed that the silo was booked through another company for the night and that I would not be able to have a tour that night. He wanted to give me a tour in the morning. Since I was partway through a nationwide motorcycle trip, the only time I had was the time I made that night for the tour. The host and his other guests arrived around dark, and completely ignored me. I waved and was as friendly as I could be, but the host made clear they were the priority. Since I never actually met anyone I asked the host to adjust my rate to reflect the fact that I slept in the desert 100 yards from a highway with zero amenities, no firewood, water, toilet, nothing at all. Not even a chair. I let him know $150 was high for a primitive site next to a highway with no tour. Then he started saying he would have given me a tour the night before, which he told me the night before on the phone he could not do because there were people sleeping in the silo that night. He then stopped communicating. I just now got home and hope HipCamp will correct this. Almost every other HipCamp ha been a great experience, but the guy with this site is selling what he has to the highest bidder. There is no telling what you will get when you arrive. Apparently, if you want to see this silo, you need to book through VRBO or AirBNB. If the guy just said he screwed up and charged me a normal rate for the site I would not have cared much, even though it completely ate up my time in Roswell and left me no time to do anything else. After dealing with this guy, I am not sure I will ever pay for a premium experience again. After tax and fees it was near $175 and I slept on the exact same desert I could have slept on 1/4 mile up the road for free. after seeing Roswell.

This whole experience was amazing and Gary was one of the coolest people I have ever met. The hosts were both so accommodating and although there was another family staying at the same time, the stay felt very private and definitely exceeded my expectations. I would definitely recommend this stay for anyone who wants to feel a part of history.

This was such a cool camp to stay at! You got a great tour, with lots of history and information. After that, you got to see the 186 foot silo! It was a bit scary to look down at it but it was an amazing experience. The sunset and night sky is so beautiful, and you have a lovely veiw of the desert from your camp.

Beautiful land, once in a life-time opportunity to see a missile silo. The oil rigs give off a burnt plastic stench fairly often, and they can be kinda loud. Otherwise a good stay with a decent night sky.
