A must if you love animals
We had a lovely time tent camping here one night, in late Sept. A rather private tent spot, great view of the stars. Loved meeting Jen, she's obviously so passionate about what she does! She took us on a tour to meet the animals, even though they were 'in bed' for the night. Each animal has a name, a personality, a back story. We met some wild turkeys and turklettes too! We were passing through Nebraska from Minnesota to Utah - what a memorable stop. I'd go here again for sure!
Quiet and peaceful camping
The camping site was lovely, quiet and peaceful. There are plenty of trees and shade, and wildflowers galore. There was a fire bowl and wood as well as lighter and fire starter for a campfire, and a full water bucket for safety.
I was serenaded by several owls when the sun set. Host Jen have me a tour of the goat and sheep rescue, which was quite interesting and the goats were delightful. The animals are located distant from the camping sites.
What a wonderful spot! Host was so friendly and easy to communicate with, even with our late (after 10pm!) arrival. The animals are such a treat and super fun for my son to play with. I would s definitely come back here.
Go for the goat hugs.
We absolutely loved our visit with Jen and the animals. Shepherd's Rest has the sweetest, friendliest bunch of animals we have ever encountered in one place and the vintage camper Trixie was even cuter in person than in photos. The property is quiet and dark at night, so the stars were absolutely beautiful and we got a very restful sleep. Jen is easy to get in touch with and was so kind to my kids. We would love to return.
We had a great time. Jen is a fantastic host and has a real passion for the rescue work she does. Please go see these adorable goats and other animals. The camping spots are great, paths cut through the property to wander and a lovely creek to explore.
Shepherd’s Rest Goat Rescue is a very peaceful and private slice of paradise. We arrived late after a long day’s drive, and we were greeted by Jen and her adorable goats. It made for a lovely evening!
