Welcome to GOOD  OLD CAMPING on a Budget!

A trip to Montana is not complete without a stop in Historic St. Ignatius (about 50 miles north of Missoula). Nestled at the foot of the breathtaking Mission Mountains is this quaint, historic, little town. Stop for the night and enjoy some GOOD OLD CAMPING with our own cool, clear creek running beside it. Direct access off of Highway 93 allows you to easily pull your rig right off the road and park in a mowed grassy field.

Camping here will give you a view of the spectacular Mission Mountains and the beautiful sunsets over the National Bison Range. It is a regular sight to see deer grazing in the field and hear owls hooting at night. We are easily accessible from the highway and a safe spot to stop for the night. The highway is within viewing distance.

The Historic Catholic Mission Church, local grocery store, Amish country store, local bank and post office are all easily accessible (3 minutes). Allard’s Stage Stop, is a stone’s throw from camp and can issue recreational permits and fishing licenses for all the river, lake and waterfall hikes in the area as well as fuel and propane fill ups. Other must-see areas to visit are The National Bision range (30 minutes), Flathead lake (45 minutes) and Glacier Park (2 hours) that all are easy day trips from GOOD OLD CAMPING.

St. Ignatius is referred to as a “hiker’s paradise” and shows you why Montana is called the “Big Sky Country”! There are unforgettable sunsets against the backdrop of the spectacular Mission Mountains. This is the spot to experience the kind, country folk that live in rural Montana. Come enjoy this great area and all that it has to offer.  We are sure that you will create treasured memories of the little town with “the creek running through it” and the night you booked at the GOOD OLD CAMPING.

NOTE: These camp sites are our least accommodating with no fire ring, table or close proximity to the trees and creek. It is a area to park in a field for the night. However, you are welcome to check out the creek and enjoy your time during your stay. Please check out our other listings that provide better access and features.

We needed a place to drop our Tiny House for a few nights to fly out of Missoula for a family emergency, we booked one of these sites and then a full hookup site at Mission's Best RV Retreat for the night we flew back in (highly recommend). Alan (Host's husband) met us at the gate and as there was room at Site #2 at Mission's Best RV retreat during our stay allowed us to park there until our full hookup reservation started. Great hosts, and although we didn't use it it looked like a good dry camping spot!

Very easy access, nicely marked sites, with a lovely stream along the edge of the property. Full service gas station pretty much across the street, and a great breakfast at a local fiber about a mile away. All in all a good spot to spend a night on our way up to Glacier!
