we purchased these 40 plus acres in the middle of nowhere with no other buildings in site. the land is divided by a year-round stream that never runs dry. some deep holes for bathing or cooling off on hot summer days in the wooded shade. ponds among the woods. old roads to sites made new. wildlife is bountiful and the birds that sing all day. several peacocks roam the farm. squirrels play in the trees. deer abound. nearby river Crooked Creek with rocky beaches for campfires, fishing, and swimming. if fishing you need to get a missouri fishing license. there is a stocked pond on the farm that has 4 other ponds not stocked but peaceful acres. the farm is very rustic and needs to be enjoyed for the stars at night in a clear open sky away from the lights and the noise of the city. the farm was part of a 1700 land grant. the civil war was fought on the property. the town of Marble Hill, Missouri is 2 miles away and has a library and a museum of interest for the dinosaurs that once roamed the area. several small eateries and even a McDonald's. 3 gas stations convenience stores and Dollar General as well as a Harps grocery store. and nearby parks. on Saturday's a farmers market is available of local interest with homemade products as well as local farmer sales, animals, and crafts. one can walk or use an ATV on the many trails newly recovered among the forests recently timbered. the farm is a work in progress to rebuild and recover the beauty of the land and is presently very rustic and undeveloped at this time. there are flat fields for self-contained RV parking also. there is well water available. and other amenities not yet available this year but will be worked on for the next near future. there is electricity but extra charges will be assessed. this is a work in progress but i have been here since 1980 when we found this hidden gem. help and suggestions are always appreciated. the year-round steam has always been a favorite of children to play in and catch crawdads. there are some deeper holes for bathing or just cooling off. i hope you come and enjoy your stay and that you will desire to return in future years. Learn more about this land: pitch your tent by ponds, in the woods, on top of the hills, or on the flatland pastures near the creek. listen to the silence of the night birds and animals. watch the fireflies twinkle in the night. see the stars far from the lights of the city. this farm is 40 plus acres of nature and trails recently cleared. at present it is like going back in time to pioneer days. water is available. some electric depending on where you locate your tent or even an RV. self contained RV's are welcome. pets properly contained are welcome. bring a horse to ride on the back roads. get a missouri fishing license for fishing the nearby river. swimming in the river is also allowed or campfires on the rocky creek bank. the stream running through my farm is a year-round stream for wading and bathing. there is a stocked pond for fishing on the farm and no license required. 4 x 4 ATV can be used to travel on the county road and to the river for fishing and swimming. parking can be available. if you bring a horse there is plenty of grazing land. years ago a young girl told her parents the one thing she remembered of her youth was coming to my farm and playing in the creek and gathering crawdads and i cooked them for her and my kids she was friends with. she passed away a few years ago but that was a compliment i will never forget. my children are grown now and scattered to the four winds but i would like to share these beautiful natural nature areas of hills and trees, ponds and streams, and for anyone with the love of nature and the outdoors it is a beautiful secluded quiet area. surrounded by farmland and not a house to be seen, it is quiet and peaceful. there is a small town 2 miles walking distance. there are bigger towns 20 to 40 miles and st. louis is 100 miles from here. there are 2 hospitals, ambulance service. i am a retired registered nurse. and i bake cookies. i am trying to supplement my small income by sharing my beautiful farm with others that they may enjoy the beauty and the healing peace i and others have found all these years here. we are working on improvements but for now it is very basic and all input will be appreciated. so bring your bucket and your toilet paper and propane stove. gather stones for a fire ring and have campfires at night under the stars. plenty of firewood to gather for campfires and cooking. bring your hammocks and rock too and fro with the night breezes to lull you asleep with the music of the night as the crickets, toads, and frogs sing you to sleep.   You can hunt here in the fall and fish in the creek, you just need the proper permits. Please clean up after yourself! I am looking forward to your stay!
