If you stayed here and have some insider info for us, let us know!
I unfortunately had to leave in the middle of the night because of a family emergency, but the groundskeeper, Chris, was so nice and made awesome pork chops and even one for my dog! The lake area is beautiful!
Any camper’s haven
Heaven for campers, this place gives you everything you could want (swimming in lakes, awesome organic food, baby lambs, etc). For no extra fees, you can paddle out to the middle of a beautiful lake. You also have the choice to upgrade to cabins built by the caretaker and cook, Chris, who was outstandingly hospitable and kind. Can’t say enough great things about our experience there, and if you’re in the area, it’s an absolute must!
A hidden gem!
we had the most idyllic evening at camp strong wood. it was an incredibly beautiful camp site back on the lake, with amazing stars and the soft lull of insects in the background. chris the groundskeeper was welcoming and very helpful and got us set up with fire materials and a walkie-talkie so we felt well-cared for. a true hidden gem and a highlight of my trip through the south so far!
Best $25 spent!
Where do I even begin! The grounds are gorgeous! The groundskeeper Chris was super helpful and very sweet! (Brought us to our campsite multiple times to help figure out our air mattress and even cooked us dinner!) Definitely stay here if you want to see stars like you never have before! Absolutely STUNNING!!! Will be back soon!!!
Solo female traveler on the lake
Communication was excellent through and through. When I arrived, Chris was there to show me to my campsite and offered the late spot since it was free!
I HIGHLY recommend the spot by the lake (or what some may call a pond). There are 2 kayaks there, a table, and ample room to set up. There was also a fire pit with a cooking setup.
If you camp at this site, it's a bit of a hike to the bathroom and shower. That said, as a solo female traveler, I felt safe walking to the restroom at night.
They are in the process of building additional cabins, and I look forward to coming back through to see how things progress.
I have Verizon and had intermittent cell reception, but it wasn't reliable. WiFi is available at the "main grounds" but it is slow. I think it's best to put away the electronics and soak up the surroundings and company.
I had an amazing time! Thanks to John for sharing his property and Chris for groundskeeping and making sure I was all set up with everything. Great place to get away from hustle and bustle of work and the city.
Me, our 4 kids (age range 11-4), and my husband stayed the weekend. If clear night skies lit with stars, scenic lakes, the cutest baby lambs, and on site staff trained in cpr is what you're looking for, this is where to find it. The property manager Chris was great with the kids and made sure we had everything we needed and really felt safe to relax and enjoy our time there. 10/10 would recommend. We are already planning our next trip back!
