Simple, rustic walk-in tent camping (site #1) or RV/car camping spot (site #2) on a 150 year old active farm nestled in a suburban setting.

Site #1 is a walk-in (1/10 of a mile) tree-covered tent camp site next to an open field. This is fairly private and out of the way.

Site #2 is a camper/RV spot next to farm buildings that can also be used for car camping. It is in the same spot as the camper cabin, and only one is booked for the same time period (if the camper cabin is booked, the RV spot is not available).

Site #2 is close to the action (and close to the outhouse, sink & barn deck). While you do have your own space, it is not secluded. Plan on seeing and hearing people, much like a traditional campground or RV park. Electrical hook up is available for a fee.

Hiking trails are on the property throughout the woods & meadow for you to use and enjoy. These are a  mile and a half of nicely-manicured, easy to moderate trails.

There is a deck on the barn for camper relaxation, and the old milkhouse is converted into a lounge for your use.

There can be traffic noise as we are close to a highway. Also plan on hearing chicken noises (we have complimentary ear plugs if you'd rather not hear the rooster a the crack of dawn).

Active farming includes hops, honey, eggs and we have goats that manage our buckthorn. Fresh eggs for sale as an "extra," as is coffee. Firewood bundles are available for purchase, and we don't mind if you scrounge for downed, dead firewood around the farm.

Wildlife is abundant. Depending on time of year, you may see deer, bear, fox, sandhill cranes, turkeys, raccoons, muskrats, barn swallows, great horned owls, kestrel, ducks, salamanders, snakes, fire flies and more. Depending on time of year you may also see ticks, mosquitoes and horse flies.

The scenic Gateway Trail for biking, walking and horseback riding is just down the road. There is access to several lakes, including legendary White Bear Lake within 5 miles if you have a boat, kayak or other watercraft. The historic rivertown of Stillwater is 6 miles away, and St. Paul/Minneapolis is 20/25 miles away.

Highly recommend!!
Our weekend camping trip here was great! The proximity to the cities made it a low stress trip and having stores (and Stillwater) nearby made things super convenient!
The site itself was great and well kept. There were no other tent campers but it is close to the trails so other guests may pass by but it’s no problem at all.
The broader farm area is peaceful and has a few animals (goats, chicken, the cutest cat). The facilities are well kept and only a short walk from the campsite.
Peter was a great host and available for any questions.

We’ll definitely be back!

Very nice property to stay at, especially with children. Farm animals provide great entertainment. Unfortunately I was just passing through, so I didn’t get to explore fully. The site was clean, and additional amenities like the outhouse were nice to have and well taken care of.

Camping on Peter’s farm was fantastic! In addition to having a stunning campsite, you can expect Peter to be incredibly hospitable and welcoming (see the delicious donuts he gifted us). The campsite is a quick drive from the Twin Cities and Stillwater is a short 10 minute drive away to tool around for some shopping or lunch. It was a great weekend!

Nice farm and property close to the Twin Cities. Peter was very cordial and attentive while allowing us space to relax. Our 3 year old loved the animals and walking the trails nearby. Do yourself a favor and order the donuts! They were delivered hot and fresh in the morning and were definitely a highlight. We did hear some traffic noise from the freeway at night so I would recommend earplugs (which they provide for free!) but all in all a very wonderful stay.

Hi Connor, thanks for visiting; it was so nice to meet your family -- and you even braved a pretty good rain shower to set up camp! Yes, the donuts are a highlight and fun to make too. Sorry about the traffic noise - I noticed it was loud that night. It's so hit or miss: as I type this, the highway is completely silent. Hope your trip to the BWCA is a great one! Peter

Enjoyed our night - took a quick stroll around the trails, saw sand hill cranes (very cool!), met the goats and chatted with the hosts. Easy to final, nice and quiet - a perfect place to stay. Only 30 min from airport which was helpful for catching an early flight - highly recommend.

We loved this place! The property is absolutely gorgeous, and charming, and the campsite is secluded and quiet. The kittens and goats and chickens are so sweet. We had three deer visit us twice in an evening too! Peter and his family were so inviting and we enjoyed delicious homemade donuts in the morning. The facilities were clean and well kept. The little milk lounge would be a cozy little spot on a rainy day as well. We will definitely be back!

Our stay was wonderful. We RV camped and the spot was nice and flat with a fire ring and picnic table. The outhouse was very clean and cutely decorated. The farm is close enough to drive into Minneapolis. I highly recommend.
