Just what the doctor ordered
It is a peaceful & idyllic setting. Our host Ryan, greeted us warmly with firewood and a smile. We had a green pasture to ourselves, beside a babbling creek, along several dairy cows as neighbors. Just a wonderful experience, and a beautiful region to explore. Couldn’t recommend more highly.
This was our first Hipcamp experience and it was phenomenal!! Jolene was very welcoming and friendly. The campsite was beautiful and spacious with a nice nearby stream and twinkling lights in the trees. Porta potty was clean and smelled nice. Great view of the bluffs and stars!!
Peaceful. convenient. lovely.
It was a great place to stay: pretty, quiet and peaceful. With 5 beef cattle for next door neighbors. Had plenty of space, fire ring with lots of stars to admire, and a trout stream at our backs. Doesn’t get too much better than that.
We had a great time staying at Bluffside Views. There was plenty of space to set up tents, the firepit was convenient, and the stream was pleasant to dip our toes in. The water and toilet were within an easy walk up the hill, and it seemed that if we needed anything, there were easy ways to contact the host.
As a granddaughter of a farmer, I loved that the cows were right next to the site and I had no problem with their cow noises and smells. Someone else might not enjoy it so much.
Jolene's list of suggested hikes was perfect; we went just up the road to La Moille and the view from the top was amazing. As a semi-local, I was so happy to find that not-on-a-map spot!
Will book again!
Outstanding property! My girlfriend and I stayed at the site by babbling brook and it could not have been more scenic. Beautiful views of bluffs, you can drive right up to the campsite, there is ample firewood. Also — Jolene saved our tails when our car battery died and gave us a jump start :) We’ll definitely book again
Jolene was super friendly and very accommodating. My wife and I enjoyed the peaceful and scenic setting with our 3 labs. It was a great and unique camping experience.
If you love camping but you don’t like the crowds of traditional campgrounds this place is perfect.
Great for stargazing
Before booking this site, I read all the reviews and I have to say, they're very accurate about the site itself, the communication, and the general sentiment about the location.
My son and I were looking for a place away from the Twin Cities to watch the Perseids meteor shower. Bluffside Views was fantastic for that! The stargazing was amazing and we could clearly see the Milky Way above us, all with the background of the sounds of the creek and even wolves (coyotes?) howling in the woods nearby. There is a bright light on next to the house across the street from the site (think streetlight size), but it didn't interfere with our view.
I had a few work calls to make during our trip and unfortunately, the wifi did not reach our site. The host had previously shared that we might get better service closer to the barn, but that would have meant being farther away from the site and my son, which wasn't an option in my case.
That said, the site itself is huge. It's in an open space without much shade, but it's the most private of the sites. The other two are on the other side of the barn and you can't really see them from this site. The porta potty is also on that side, which means it's a longer walk from the Bluffside Views site.
My son said to say the porta potty gets five starts. He even said it smells nice! It was definitely the cleanest one I've ever used.
One thing to be aware of with this site - there's an electrified cow fence around it. I knew there was a cow fence before going, but I didn't realize it was so close to the site. Because of that, we didn't feel comfortable letting our dog roam too much because I'm sure he would have run straight into it to try to check out the cows on the other site.
If you're looking for open land to camp on without many trees and a good view of the sky. this is a great option. Firewood available for purchase was also nice - a good amount for the money and they deliver it right to your campsite.
