Description
There’s plenty to keep equestrians and non-equestrians alike busy in the Huntersville State Forest, and both groups co-exist happily in this little slice of horse heaven that is the Shell City Horse Campground. There are 27 no-frills sites designed specifically for horse campers, and eight additional rustic sites that are perfect for everyone else. As an added bonus, the campground sits along 24 miles of horse trails, with a fun river crossing thrown in for good measure. Check out a state forest map before heading out, and you’re bound to find something to enjoy on four hooves, or on two feet.
