10/10. I debated on booking here or the township park. I’m so glad I went with this place. James was a great host. He answered my questions promptly. There was wood by the fire pit, a ton of different campfire cookware, and tp in the outhouse. I can’t really decide what the best part of staying here was, either the amazing view of Lake Huron (the freighters we’re cool to see), or the completely private/safe feeling you can’t really get from a campground. We’ll be back next year.

What a beautiful place! So secluded and quiet. We loved waking up next to the water and hearing the waves all night. The star viewing was amazing! Would go back in a heartbeat

This place was incredibly quiet and I enjoyed watching the ships come and go at all hours. I also appreciated the grates to go over the fire for cooking.

Oh my where do I start? We’ve never camped this privately before, but will definitely be doing more dry camping if there are more gems like this! We had a cobble beach all to ourselves. Only saw one neighbor (when he walked down the shoreline to warn us about the resident bears in the area! We never saw any). Amazing wildflowers on Drummond island and right on this lot! We saw dozens of freighters on our four night stay. Awesome light up at night off in the distance. We have a class c camper with generator and did just fine. They say you can bath in the lake (it is clean enough!) but I couldn’t go in that far as it was COLD. Drive through eastern UP was stunning and the short ferry ride was fun! Oh yeah, our two rescues loved being off leash the whole time, always within our site though. We were there over 4th of July and boo hoo some yahoos brought fireworks up and broke the serenity. Check this place out. It is exquisite

We stayed here at the end of June. It was wonderful. Our camper fit well on the beach but we needed three extension cords to reach the power, however the power worked fine. Bugs were nominal though I can see that they could get bad if it’s not windy. The wind came in from Lake Huron for the most part. Bears passed through our camp three nights in a row. (A momma and three cubs twice) once in the morning and twice in the evening. The privy was nothing fancy but it functioned well. It was chilly at night. There is only one grocery on the island. The stars were amazing and the kayaking was great. We will definitely come back in the Fall when the leaves are changing.

We had a great time at James’s place! It is absolutely beautiful! We set up our tent right on the lake, there is nothing like waking up to those views. We saw lots of wildlife including a doe and her fawn. Our dogs absolutely loved exploring. We would definitely go back.

James was a great host- very responsive and accommodating! Views at his camp were breathtaking. The forest, shoreline, sunset and stars were incredible!! Be sure to bring your water shoes kayaks and hammocks. We parked our RV right alongside the trailer on the property and used an extension cord to hook up to the box. Otherwise if you’re bringing a tent you can pitch it right next to the shore. The view of the lake through the trees was so peaceful to wake up to. You have neighbors but it feels very private. The beach is all rocks but the water is pretty shallow and gets sandy maybe 50 ft out. No luck fishing. We saw snakes, bald eagles, loons and geese. We brought our dog and met some other pups along the beach who hung out with us for a bit. Our first trip to the island was definitely a memorable one and we’d come back in a heart beat.
