With pristine water from our well and forests all around, you will camp amid our gardens and orchards. Visit the chickens and pick fresh, organic fruit in season. Walk down the country road to the Bear River for a dip or explore nearby Shelburne Falls. We have a newly built outhouse. Enjoy a rustic “bucket bath’ or camp shower while looking over the wooded hillsides.
Wilder Hill Gardens is very peaceful, guaranteed you will be greeted by bird song every morning and the evening sky is bright with stars. We are in a lovely rural neighborhood yet centrally located to any number of natural wonders and cultural activities.
There is a limit of two tents on each site and four people. Each site has a separate fire pit, water source, and private camping area. Sorry, but we are not accepting pets at this time.
There are two farm dogs, Viola and Jackson at Wilder Hill Gardens. They are friendly and mostly work along side me. But they do have free range of the farm and if anyone in your party has a fear of dogs this is probably not the best choice for you.
We have PYO fresh fruit, vegetables, cut flowers, eggs, and all of our nursery stock for sale in season. There is a newly built garden shop and art gallery with a 12 Ft. Mosaic made of thousands of handmade porcelain pieces. We accept cash or checks or Venmo but not credit cards.

A magical camping location.
I don't often use the word "magical", but when describing this site it is more than appropriate. Located behind a small nursery the entire property is a lovely mix of untouched nature and beautifully curated landscape design. While the site is located behind the owners lovely small home and studio it felt very private (especially at night). We had easy access to potable water, firewood, a functional outhouse and some raspberries and the juciest Asian Pears I have had in years!! Lilian showed us around and then left us to our own devices. The town of Shelburne Falls is a 5 minute ride down the road and we spent our days exploring the town and riding our small motorcycles in the area. You are very close to a lot of great hiking trails and he had a nice hike on the "Two Bridges" trail. We very much enjoyed our time at Wilder Hill Gardens and recommend it to anybody who wants a slightly more curated camping experience.
Beautiful and private campsite! Lilian was very generous with her orchard, her art, and her dogs. Bring waterproof boots for the dew in the long grass and keep your eye out for stinging nettle— we saw a few clumps in the camping area. Loved staying here and hope to come back soon!
We had a great time! Lilian was amazing, so helpful and a true artist.
Our two kids so enjoyed the area for fishing and swimming. They were both very determined that they are going to stay there and live with Lilian:)
The nearby town is also very charming.
This is a lovely property, with a lovingly designed garden and workshop. Really, you have to see it in person to appreciate the care that went into it over a couple of decades. Lillian was kind, welcoming and laid back and her two dogs and I hit it off immediately.
I left my tent before dawn to go ride D2R2, which started outside of nearby Deerfield and after that 100 mile event was over, I checked the weather and realized that I really needed to drive back down to NYC that same night before Hurricane Henri arrived. Even leaving again before dawn would have put me out on the road in horrible conditions. So, I packed up my tent and left, a little sadly, without really getting to enjoy the place and relax there. But it's beautiful and I hope to see it again. Recommended.
Living it up in the garden
What a one of a kind spot. The blueberries we picked were so so so tasty. If you enjoy sleeping in the hill towns and floating in rivers and sleeping by flowers then this spot is for you. Lillian is a generous host with her time and area insight. Can’t wait to be back next summer
Lilian was a perfect host. The property was well maintained and beautiful. We set up our tent in a nice private area on the land and had two pleasant nights of sleep there. Look forward to going back someday!
Wilder Hill Gardens was beautiful!! We had such a special time there and would love to go back. There were gooseberries and currants in season, and Lilian helped us learn how to pick beautiful flowers properly. It got very hot and we were so grateful for a cool swim in the river just down the road.
