Love having a place where I can lay my head for the night, have a campfire, and not break the bank doing it. Thanks so much Robert and Jennifer! It was a really nice stay.
Overall I had a pleasant experience. However, there are non Hipcampers staying there. I was robbed of $400 by a guy named Jim. Robert called me a crybaby when I complained. Thanks Robert.
Jim lives in a camper trailer. It is illegal to occupy a camper trailer in Maine between the months of October to April. But apparently Robert is above the law.
Great place if you like trash.
I’d look elsewhere
In full transparency, we arrived to camp after dark which could have affected our experience; however, the information on the listing indicates that you go straight to camp upon arrival so we really didn’t think it would. I messaged the host just after dark to let them know we would still be coming & asked if it was clear where we should go once we got there. They told me that the road is actually their driveway and we can park and camp anywhere along side it. By the time we got there, a few people were already set up (not in tents) alongside the driveway. We found what looked to be the only real “spot” we could find. The ground was rutted out with the area to put the tent having tree roots etc. This wasn’t what we signed up for (I.e. did not match the listing description and not what we expected). We had low expectations going into it so the fact that we were disappointed is saying something. We also expected to have a fire since the listing says campfires allowed but there wasn’t anywhere to have a fire. We felt like we were camping in a ditch. We are avid campers and barely slept there. The location is good and the communication was prompt. I don’t feel that we had the same experience as others who camped at the actual spot that matches the description in this post.
As a woman who often travels alone I'm not sure I would have felt comfortable staying here alone. The campsite was private enough and clean. The surrounding area was a bit unkept. We met Robert, who was nice.
