In 1883 Elliot Cline purchased the acres which once was home to the original New Dungeness. He laid out a town on the bluff above the sandy spit which curves out into the Strait of Juan de Fuca. Across from the farmhouse used to be a village church, the first county courthouse and the local blacksmith's shop, among other businesses and homes, including two hotels, several stores, and saloons. In 1890 the County Seat was moved to Pt. Angeles and the town swiftly declined. In 1892 the farmhouse was built, and in 1934 the beautiful bow truss barn was built.  A former owner, Mr. Steel, had the barn rebuilt to modern day standards and the new owners use it occasionally for events and art workshops. Tours of the barn are available upon request.

Cottage Near Olympic National Park
Our hosts Mary Beth and Rick were great— just the right amount of helpful and friendly. The cottage is small, but comfy. We loved the big red barn and apple tree out front. We got a show from a family of deer going for the fruit. Great location for Olympic National Park adventures.

Chickens at the door
I loved staying at the little cabin on the farm. It has everything you need to feel cozy and tucked in, and a fire to keep us warm before bed. The hosts are so welcoming, and everything was easy to arrange. Having chickens around the cabin, a tour of the barn and meeting neighbors brought more life into the history of the town, and I look forward to visiting again.

Family glamping cottag & tent combo
Quiet open acreage with a great location to walk to sunset above Cline Spit. Loved the free barn tour, unique beautiful interior space. Our boys pitched their tent and we enjoyed the cozy shed with everything you need for a simple glamping combo. Fresh Farm eggs for breakfast from our lovely hosts. We hiked Dungeness Spit close by. We road our bikes past lavender fields into Sequim for brunch and enjoyed the Olympic Discovery Trail through town, 18 miles round trip loop from the property. Would love to return again!

Peaceful and cozy
The hosts are kind and easy to communicate with. They’ve created a lovely spot to settle for a night or two. The cozy cottage had everything I needed, I especially appreciated the heater as it was cold outside. Lots of other nice touches turn this basic cottage into a perfect spot for a retreat. I had plenty of quiet, privacy, and felt very safe here. I spent the day walking to the spit, Dungeness Landing, and around the country roads and had a great time.

360 degrees of beauty
My kids and I had an incredible stay at Mossflower Cottage. The beds were super cozy. Who doesn't love a fluffy duvet and flickering firelight space heater to fall asleep to? Mary Beth and Rick are kind and generous. The giant renovated barn is something to behold. We walked down to Cline Spit a few times (we renamed it crab beach for all the tiny crabs we found under rocks) and of course spent a day out on the Dungeness Spit. Also made a habit of going into town to pane d'amore for bread and other goodies. I highly recommend and hope to come back!

Nice place in the “Blue Hole”
Wonderful cottage near the Olympic Discovery Trail. Nice little touches through out. Our only regret is that we didn’t have time to tour the barn. Hope to stay again. Good Verizon signal. Lack of WiFi didn’t matter to us.

Mary Beth and Rick are wonderful hosts, and made our stay pleasant. The Olympic Game Farm is just down the road, and Hurricane Ridge is only a 45 minute drive away. Mossflower Cottage
This was a cozy home base for my mom and I to stay for two nights while exploring Olympic National Park. It was about an hour drive from our locations of interest (Hurricane Ridge, Lake Crescent) and very close to fun local attractions too (lavender farms, Dungeness Spit). It's small and simple, but the bed was super comfy and the property was a peaceful place to recharge.

Lovely spot. The cottage is nicely laid out and well thought out to make the most of the small space. We had three adults in the cottage, two in each of the single beds and one on a camping mattress on the floor. Cozy, but totally worked out to hang out and do some minimal cooking. Great breakfast spot outside in the picnic table in the morning. Mary Beth was welcoming and we enjoyed getting a tour of the barn.

Beautiful Little Cottage!
My husband and I had a wonderful time staying at Mossflower Cottage! The little cabin was beautiful and very clean, and the surrounding area was just gorgeous. The ocean was only a short walk away! Additionally Mary Beth and Rick were so kind and accommodating, and Rick gave us a tour of the larger barn they have on their property which they're renovating into an event space. All in all, we would absolutely stay here again!

Sweet Retreat
Mossflower Cottage is as sweet as it sounds. It's a cozy, little oasis that provides the perfect spot to launch all your adventures on the Olympic Peninsula. Mary Beth and Rick are lovely hosts. The chickens kept us in supply of fresh eggs, and we enjoyed the peacefulness of the area, with deer visiting in the mornings, and walks down to Cline Spit to enjoy the sunsets in the evening. Mary Beth thought of everything you might need in this sweet, one-room cottage, including just the right supplies to be able to cook simple breakfasts and a sheltered front porch to enjoy our meals. We loved hearing about the history of their land and the surrounding area and look forward to a return visit.
