This magical, 40-acre, cultivated ecosystem, will wrap around you and leave you enchanted. Enjoy this peaceful, country retreat, as a place to rest and reconnect with the earth and yourself. This is a great place to stop for the night, but one day might not be enough to meander the many paths, drink tea harvested from the herb garden, sit on a bench talking to ancient Maple trees, walk the stone labyrinth, wander the sacred Grove, and camp under the stars. There's so much to enjoy here, from the fragrant rose gardens to the orchards and sheep meadows. Spend the morning sipping tea with a book in the greenhouse, an afternoon wandering the many wooded trails, preparing dinner with vegetables grown from the garden, and enjoying the evening watching the moon and stars come up from the observatory platform. You could take a guided tour of the land and animals, or join one of the many workshops hosted here, such as learning to spin yarn from our herd of Icelandic sheep or take an introduction class to Permaculture. Bring your knitting, friends, or just a favorite book, and spend a few days in this tranquil destination, as this land has something to offer everyone. Please NOTE: This is a working farm, we have animals, dirt, sticks, bugs, poop, and lots of opportunities to "connect" with Nature. All of our amenities are shared spaces, designed to foster community. You will find signs posted around the property with clear communication. All of our lodgings are off-grid with no electricity or running water. Water, electricity, and WIFI are available in the shared kitchen, garden, cafe, and lounging areas. Please bring battery-operated lights, bedding, and a pillow, unless otherwise noted. This is a private, shady 8'x8' site surrounded by young alder trees in a meadow across the creek from the tenting cluster. It is farthest from the bathroom but very quiet and secluded. This is a good place for hammock camping. We have wagons to help you carry your camp gear from the parking area to your site. All our sites haven't 8 ft x 8 ft sawdust pad. Each site holds one tent.

Maple is a sunny 8x8 tent site closest to the restroom and parking area. It's also the closest to Cotton cabin. It's sits in a cluster of tent sites that include cedar and Alder. If you're looking for two sites next to each other I would take Maple and Alder. We have wagons to help you move your camp gear from parking to the tent sites. Simple level tent sites with sawdust pads to keep you warm and comfortable. Each side holds one tent.

Alder is a lovely 8'x8' sunny site that sits next to Maple. It is the closest site to the picnic table. If you're looking for two sites next to each other I would choose Maple and Alder. Willow is a lovely, unbounded family-sized site for one large single tent. This site is situated in a sunny location in mowed grass. It is near the massage and meditation space. We have small wagons to help you move your camp gear from your car to the site. This site is intended for a single family or small group with a single larger tent. If your tent will fit on smaller site and one is open please choose it and leave this open for larger families.

Van camp is a safe, flat, gravel place to park a van or other small vehicle. This spot is for those who would like to sleep in their vehicle, no tents on this site. This space is in the shade along the woods near the trailers. Easy walking distance to the toilet. Kitchen, shower, bathhouse, and all other amenities available for this site. There are no hookups and the turning around is a bit tight. We have a steep driveway so no long motorhomes or trailers. note: The sites have been changed and are now level.

Aloha is a 1963 Model 13 camper made in Beaverton Oregon. After 60 years on the road, she has found her retirement home here on the farm. She has a Full size bed, lacey curtains and throw pillows. All ready for your glamping dreams. A great place to spend the weekend reading a book and walking through the forest. Pearl is a petite 1-2 person, 13 ft bigfoot travel trailer with a comfy seating area and table. She is a perfect fit for a camper who loves a cozy space that feels like a hug. This little trailer is the closest to the potty and other amenities. Bedding and pillows are included however, campers are bedrooms with no electricity propane, or water. All our little trailers are nestled against the woods and a short walk on level ground to the bathroom. Cotton Cabin is a rustic off-grid canvas wall tent with a metal roof, wood floor, and a large porch. If you are looking for a simple, rustic, and off grid wall tent this is the place for you. This cabin is not an Airbnb and it is in the woods, you will hear wind in the trees and tiny creatures. Inside you will find five twin beds, two floor pads, a table and chairs, kitchen cabinets, a wardrobe, and a dresser. This is a great place for friends traveling together who are looking for a hostile type place for $20 a bed. Bedding and pillows are not included.

The Round House is a 16-foot circular bedroom cabin with small furniture, and a queen size bed (bedding included). Electricity is available in this cabin. This beautiful cabin was crafted from a single tree, taken with respect, and spun into this peaceful place of retreat and rest. Note: the kitchenette and wood stove are not available for use. I would highly recommend a visit to Compass Rose. This was a beautiful, fun, peaceful space to stay, with plenty to explore and enjoy on site. It felt like a sanctuary, with lots of wonderful places to retreat to for quiet solitude. At the same time, it also drew fun and interesting guests and provided lovely shared spaces for connecting. All the best of camping combined with amenities you’d find in a great hostel. Kateen herself was an incredible host: very welcoming, inspiring, and fun to learn from.

Sweet spot with many opportunities to perch on a bench or hammock and bask in the glory of the natural landscape. The communal kitchen is spotless and well organized. The shower house is super charming. We spent a delightful morning sipping coffee and tea in the adorable little glass house amidst the colorful flower garden. Felt very cozy in the round house lounging in bed under the down comforter gazing up at the mesmerizing patterned ceiling.

If you like communal-style arrangements with a strong sense of restorative and connection with the land, this place is great. I enjoyed the dried herbs for mixing custom tea blends, community gathering spaces, meandering trail through the forest and wetlands, and incredible flower garden and orchard. The vintage camper itself was clean and comfortable, with good mattress and pillows. Kateen is also a great host, meeting us and providing a small tour at the start. Portable toilets are not my favorite, but they were well-kept, with a hand-washing sink with soap available. I could see coming back and staying for more than one night and would recommend to others.

My partner and I were looking for a place to stay near Port Townsend, a friend who stayed there recommended us to check it out, and I am so glad we did! We planned on tent/car camping but ended up staying in the Round House cabin, and it was just what we needed! We came in late at night, I never felt more safe walking solo on a property than at the Compass Rose Farm. All of it was absolutely majestic! The gardens, the charming structures, and we just loved being greeted by all the farm animals in the morning. Highly recommend staying on the property, even if you were just needing to sleep in your car!

Magical Fairyland!

Amazing farm stay! Kateen has the most beautiful farm and it felt like living in a magical fairyland. Flowers and lush green plants in every direction. Everything in the common spaces and campers are clean and well maintained. The bed was a little creaky but it was comfortable and I slept very well. I felt extremely safe and comfortable. It was super easy to get to Port Townsend from the property, I will absolutely come back!

It was a great campsite, and most definitely was comfortable. Kareem provides wagons to make it easier to “pack in”. She also provides a tour of the property to provide guest with insights regarding her property and locations of amenities.

Beautiful retreat, a few flaws

Round House

We overall enjoyed our stay in the lovely and cozy round house. The bed was comfortable, linens were clean, the room was pleasant. I didn't like that the little attached deck was not swept before our arrival and covered in goose poop. I wrecked my socks trying to hop in and out of shoes getting my things moved in while keeping the shoes outside and trying to duck the poop...unsuccessfully. We made sure to sweep at the end of our stay. The website shows a picture of a table and chairs on the deck but there isn't one. Luckily we had a tiny fold out table of our own, and I sat on my cooler for a chair. It is a lovely place to drink coffee in the morning so I think the table and chairs should be brought back. There was a red tailed hawk in the tree right next to the round house in the morning, a perfect coffee companion! The house has an unusable kitchen which feels like a waste of space. The porta potties were decent and relatively close. I loved the shower room. I didn't use the group kitchen but it looked great. The grounds are lovely, magical. The stars at night were epic without city lights. I felt glad we splurged on the beautiful round house as the vintage campers didn't look appealing. Tent camping spots scattered around were lovely and I would consider staying for tenting. Kateen was a pleasant host. Unfortunately for me the commute to PT is about 1/2 an hour. I needed to drive back and forth 2X a day, so two hours of driving! Otherwise I recommend it,

This hipcamp is truly special! Kateen has created a place that reflects her deep respect and reverence for the land she stewards. She was welcoming and went above and beyond what I’ve ever experienced from a host. The details throughout every corner of the property, from meditation spots to the kitchen and library, show just how thoughtfully everything has been curated and how much care and intention went into this space. Staying here was an experience I won’t forget and I will most certainly be returning!

I thoroughly enjoyed my stay! The energy there is so revitalizing I instantly felt my breathe deepen upon arrival. It is clear how much care goes into this special place. All the amenities needed were there and clearly available. Kateen is a delight. Staying in Pearl was like a sweet hug. She was very clean and cozy.

What a great stay. Kateen is great host and made my family feel welcome on her farm. Beautiful farm with all types flora and fauna. My favorite features was the ducks and the shower. Definitely check it out if you are on the peninsula.

Loved the garden and ducks plus the turkeys roaming around. The foot soak was great. Only issues were having to purchase two sites for two tents when we originally purchased the family site, and the port a potties needed to be cleaned more often. Otherwise awesome area and owner is super friendly.

I stayed in one of the campers for five nights while attending a dance retreat in Port Townsend. This place was just lovely all around. Hot outdoor(ish) shower & gorgeous vegetable/flower/fruit farm you can harvest from. There's poop everywhere because it's a farm but it wasn't a problem, and I didn't have any trouble with the geese and turkeys. Sweet tea room, library, greenhouses, foot soak.... total gem.

LOVED that this farm has a full kitchen for guests; I never had to take out any of my camping cookware! Overall very peaceful vibes with all the barnyard animals clucking about. Would highly recommend for people looking for a place to stay in between the Olympics and the ocean :)
