Hidden gem in a small town
Jeffrey contacted us prior to our stay and informed us over a recent storm so we were aware of a downed tree on the property. He met us as we arrived and guided us to camp anywhere we wanted which was nice. We camped just under the big tree and the kids loved all the lightning bugs. There is a neighbor just through the tree line but they were quiet after 9pm the night we stayed. Our two daughters loved using his pool which he had to clean some after that storm while showing us around the beautiful property.
We enjoyed the short walk to the bar he owns intown called Bar9. Food was good even though my kids didn't want chicken tenders for the second time that day but they ate them all. My wife enjoyed her burger and I loved the Salisbury Steak dinner.

This was my first trip car camping and it couldn’t have been a better experience. The house was easy to find and the grounds were amazing. Lots of places to park and set up camp. I chose to park under a huge tree for the shade. There is also a pool you can use and an indoor bathroom and shower upon request. The host Jeffrey was quick to respond to all of my texts before and after arriving. Jeffrey and his partner Edward also own a restaurant in town, Bar 9. It was closed the night I was there but looking forward to going back soon and checking it out. Highly recommended. Will definitely visit again.

Really weird experience. The owner’s land is incredible. But I ended up staying on the concrete driveway because after 2 hours waiting, still no one at home and no instructions as to where’s to go. Also, his add says « shower included », but when asked about it, he said his dogs would be all over me. I finally got the shower but I felt I needed to insist on it.

We enjoyed a quiet night under a dark starry sky in the back corner of Jeffrey’s property. It was nice to be able to walk down to the Tabasco Heritage trail and then into town at Jeffrey’s restaurant Bar9. Great stay!

Optimal Hipcamping Spot
Easy to find location. I drove past Lawrenceville to tour Fort Christiana (or more precisely, where the fort stood in the 1700s). I stopped in Pino's for some pizza before setting up my tent behind the barn. I didn't utilize the facilities in the house, instead in the morning, I drove to South Hill for a cup of coffee and a breakfast burrito at the Love Cafe (recommend). Beautiful estate. Also, easy to get to off of 85.

Jeff and Eddie are incredible hosts and people. I biked from Richmond on the East Coast Greenway and stopped in on my way to Raleigh. They treated me like family and I can’t wait to return with my wife for a day trip on the Tobacco Heritage Trail.
Jeff and Eddie also own the best restaurant in town (Bar 9) and you should absolutely stop there for food. Honestly, it would be a waste to eat anywhere else. I recommend whatever’s on special. I had braised beef short ribs and gnocchi (all from scratch) and it was on point.

We got in a little late but Jeffrey still met us on the porch, gave us out pick of the land to set up on. Lots of grass and some woods my pup enjoyed frolicking in. We just stopped overnight so didn't get the chance to check out the town, but it was a great place to stop for the night!

Peaceful, beautiful,welcoming
We parked our tent in the woods behind the house and enjoyed a serene night. They allowed to use the pool and enjoy the fire next to it. A very accommodating host. Would definitely go back.

Lovely spot, lovely owners
Beautiful grounds and house. Can camp on the grounds or in the trees. Lots of nooks and crannies to sneak your nose into. Bathroom is inside the main house, not wanting to commit an officious offense, i used the woods for #1 and a gas station for #2. Dont camp at the bottom of the slope if it is raining. Owners are pleasant and very friendly. Thank you for sharing your space!
