The Crescent Oak Nature Cabin
A good spot
A great little cabin that's like a perma-tent. Nice grill for over the open fire. There's a stock pond with fish in it and some hiking trails. Best part was that the dogs could run free and swim. Other reviews warn about loud neighbors but they were not bad at all and the other dogs on the property kept to themselves.

Great camp site! The compostable toilet was a great bonus. The property is beautiful and it was a nice retreat from the city. There were neighbors playing loud music but it wasn’t too much of a bother.

I liked the place. Trails could have been better taken care of. Loose dogs made it difficult to go hiking in most places. We caught a monster cat fish in the small pond though.
The gas station / grocery store .5M away is awesome in case you left something at home or want a snack.

Beautiful night in a cool cabin
Ultimately we had a lovey time. The little cabin was perfect for sleeping. We were actually really impressed with the ingenuity behind the build. There’s also a little battery that kept the fan in the cabin going all night which was wonderful. It was perfectly quiet and right where we parked was a big clearing where we spent a few hours watching the stars.
A few things that could have gone better and hopefully with this note will go better for you:
- make sure the hosts see your booking and sends you a real message. We ended up nearly going back home because we couldn’t find anyone or the cabin at first.
- don’t just go to the address on the listing. We did and nearly got stuck in mud (turns out there’s a back entrance)
- bring your own fire wood. We ended up having to skip the fire because the wood they brought us was too wet too catch. (It had just rained so we understood and had our propane stove as a backup.
Pretty minor issues for what was ultimately a perfect evening all things considered. Would definitely recommend if what you seek is your own little getaway in the woods.

Open air cabin site is recommended!
Honestly the best campsite!!! I was very happy that the bathrooms were super close to the camp. The host stop bye and talked to us a bit, he felt like an old friend. Definitely going back 10/10

Campsite good except for gunshots
I enjoyed the cabin a lot and I especially loved how there was a little charging port with twinkle lights! felt like a fairytale.
One thing I really disliked was how many gunshot I could hear during the day and through the night. As we were stargazing at night, we heard gunshots very close range around 11pm and could see the flashlights of those who were shooting. They was closer than anyone should be while discharging a weapon at night without any visibility. This scared everyone, including my dog who is terrified of the noise. This made everyone very upset and paranoid throughout the night.

It’s so close to where I grew up and I love how little is touched here. What is touched here is set up in a way that doesn’t take away from the immersions of the raw nature. Supplying firewood and a campfire cooker and even fresh eggs! It’s wonderful here and a great economic way to relax and unplug. There’s a new compost toilet that is really nice and has zero odor! There’s a pond to swim in and a floating raft to sit on that makes a huge difference for people like me scared of turtles!

If you’re someone that loves summer nature sounds, this place will be perfect for you! I was awestruck by the symphony of insects at night and birds in the morning. You could easily record relaxation tracks out there.
Also, the cabin is so well designed. My only disappointment was that it DIDN’T rain, because the only thing missing was the sound of a little rainfall on the tin roof. It’s a great getaway!

Great location. Very secluded with great sky clarity for star gazing. They have added a composting toilet near camp site 2. Communication was great. Will repeat.

Neat place to visit, with unique and effective craftsmanship. We just weren't sure how to access the pond, nor did I have the signal to ask when we got there. We're used to checking for bugs when staying in cabins, but we'd forwarn others who aren't used to more rustic accommodations. The spider population is happy and thriving in these woods, to say the least. Still! Lots of privacy, even with neighbors, and we had fun.

Best primitive camping in Texas
Perfect getaway from the crowds at the state parks! Some sites are closed for renovation right now so since we were the only ones camping (there was one other group staying in a cabin) they let us pull up anywhere but I was able to check out the primitive sites and I will definitely be back when they're ready! Camp sites are nice and spread out for privacy, nothing but the sounds of the bugs and frogs at night. Be aware there is the occasional train but did not bother us at all. The pond is Perfect for swimming, kayaking, etc and the fishing is great for kids but nothing big enough to keep/eat. Not a problem because the Colorado and lots of places to fish close by. If you want to get away from the crowds and enjoy peace and quiet in nature this is definitely the best camping spot I've ever found! I really hope it stays as natural as it is now as they continue to grow. Bonus...if you want to sleep a few feet from a cemetery there's a spot for you too. With the history of the area we were a little chicken to go for but it was very cool.

Camping in the woods
I liked the area. It was well marked and easy to get to. There was Wild flowers everywhere. It felt secluded but close to civilization.
Sunrise Clearing Bell Tent
This tent is very moldy, and smells moldy. It’s definitely a little more rough then the pictures portray. The walk from the car to the tent is further then you’d think which is a bit of a pain to bring all your gear. We brought our own wagon which I was happy we did because the one provider is a little awkward and hard to use. We also tried to explore the Property and find the communal pond area they described. I’m almost certain you can not get to that area from where this tent is as we explored quite a bit and never found it. Also, a few other reviews mention this but it’s just a mattress on the floor, no bed frame like it shows.

The tent is beautiful! Directions to get there were super clear, no issues on that. Even though it’s super close to the city, you can truly disconnect from it. I Willl definitely come back! The eggs I bought were super fresh and yummy, and awesome addition to my stay.

Beautiful nature retreat
Cute cabin to relax and enjoy nature! Was the perfect balance between “glamping” and “camping” for us - cabin is well-designed and gets you off the ground and away from bugs, without taking away the rustic/outdoorsy feel we were looking for. Our dogs loved exploring/playing on the land and in the pond! Highly recommend the grate over the fire - made for an easy campfire kitchen. Very peaceful retreat

Sunrise Clearing Bell Tent
This was such a fun experience for people that are ready for a little adventure. Keep in mind that you are literally just getting a tent and bed, take everything essential for a regular camping trip. There is a trail that you need to walk to get to the tent, and wagon for your use when you park. So I recommend arriving with some daylight.
Unlike the picture May suggest, there is really no bedding so please make sure you bring your own! Though you may feel alone, there are plenty of neighbors, dogs, roosters and cows to keep you from feeling lonely.
Anyways this was such a nice getaway, will be returning!

Camping Near Lockhart BBQ
We had a great time at Sarah's Primitive Camping location! When we first arrived, we were kind of surprised that it was right across from a cemetery but once we walked our camping gear in, the trees blocked us in completely. We had two random sweet dogs come up to our site and visit randomly. We also walked around the property a bit and hung out by the pond. There's also a gas station about 3 minutes away for any forgotten or last minute needs! Highly recommend picking up some bbq on your way in! While I wouldn't necessarily consider it as 'primitive' as people who hardcore camp would call it, it was a great location and trip overall.

Clean cabin
Such a great experience! This cabin is perfect if you want a traditional camping experience but leveled up. Tucked away in the forest, great fire pit, a small pond with available kayaks and canoes, and the cabin was clean with no bugs. Would recommend to a couple or small family!

Old School Camping
I had a great time! The campsites are well spaced a part and there is plenty of wilderness to explore- its a great spot for those that like camping the old fashioned way and you don’t want to be overwhelmed by facilities and activities. The only thing is that it is difficult to find the Liberty entrance. Written directions to that gate would be appreciated!
