Tucked away in the countryside of West Grey, Ontario, our 20-acre property is a peaceful escape for nature lovers and weekend adventurers. With open meadow, forest, and winding trails, it’s the perfect place to slow down and reconnect with yourself, loved ones, and the outdoors. We offer two spacious campsites in our field, each with a fire pit, picnic table, and private portable toilet with a privacy tent (and toilet paper). Every site includes one bag of firewood, 5 gallons of potable water, and a parking space for easy unloading. This is an off-grid retreat with no electricity, Wi-Fi or running water. We provide the basics listed above; you bring everything else needed for a comfortable camping experience. A short walk brings you to the Saugeen River, where you can swim, relax on the bank, or simply listen to the current. At night, the absence of city lights makes for incredible stargazing by the fire or lying back in the meadow. From time to time, you may also meet Nikki, our friendly resident dog, who loves people and the outdoors as much as we do. If you’re planning to bring your own dog, please message us in advance so we can make the right arrangements and ensure everyone enjoys their stay. Nearby, you’ll find McGowan Falls, Durham Conservation Area, Holstein Dam, local markets, and artisan shops. The town of Durham is just 5 minutes away with grocery stores, restaurants, cofee shop, LCBO, Beer store and Durham Hospital. Owen Sound is 40 minutes, and Collingwood or Saugeen beach are about an hour. We are nature-loving gardeners and homesteaders who cherish this land and aim to keep it as wild and welcoming as possible. Following a “leave no trace” philosophy, we ask guests to do the same so everyone can enjoy this space for years to come. Whether you’re hiking, swimming, birdwatching, or simply sitting by the fire under a star-filled sky, our goal is to provide a peaceful, private escape that leaves you refreshed and reconnected. Come experience the simplicity, beauty, and serenity of our little corner of the Saugeen. *For the security of our equipment and storage areas, we have outdoor video cameras on-site. These are positioned only on our equipment/trailers/shipping containers and do not monitor the campsites, trails, or river areas.

Your campsite is drive-up for easy unloading, with a designated parking spot just steps away. Thoughtful touches make your stay comfortable: a sturdy picnic table for meals or morning coffee, a private fire pit with a complimentary bag of seasoned firewood, 5 gallons of potable water for drinking and cooking, and a portable toilet in a privacy tent. When you’re ready to explore, take a short walk across the meadow and down the path to the Saugeen River. Whether you’re wading in the shallows, dipping in for a swim, or just relaxing on the bank while the water flows by, the river is a highlight of every stay. Daisy Meadow is perfect for those looking to slow down and reconnect with nature. On breezy summer days, watch meadow grasses sway and dandelion seeds drift across the landscape as you unwind from the bustle of everyday life. The campsite is drive-up friendly, with a parking space right at your site. We’ve included everything you need for a comfortable stay: a picnic table for meals or card games, a private fire pit with a complimentary bag of seasoned firewood, 5 gallons of potable water, and a portable toilet housed in a privacy tent. A short walk through the meadow and along a tree-lined path brings you to the Saugeen River — a beautiful, natural spot for swimming, dipping your toes, or simply sitting and letting the water’s rhythm slow your thoughts. Daisy Meadow

If you're craving a peaceful escape, Saugeen River Retreat is the kind of place that gently pulls you back to what matters. The campsites are spacious and private, surrounded by forest and an open meadow, with trails that invite you to wander and explore. Everything feels calm here—no traffic, no noise, just birdsong and the rustle of leaves. The walk to the river is a treat in itself, and once you arrive, it’s the perfect spot to swim, skip stones, or simply sit and let the water carry your thoughts away. Evenings are magical—campfires crackling, stars overhead, and a sense of stillness. The hosts are very accommodating and went above and beyond with all the little extras such a free firewood, benches, a seating area near the water, and a 5 gallon jug of water which came in very handy.
