CREEK-SIDE CAMP-SITE at water-falls

100%
(1)
Tent site · Sleeps 9
The Creekside Campsite is 1 of 3 areas we offer to guests as a homebase to explore the Rockingham Creek Valley. Located just upstream of the historic Rockingham Falls, this site is the most basic (read: most affordable) with three level sites for tents, a large firepit area, and an outhouse or treasure chest if you prefer, to drop your valuables before taking off to explore the valley. Mature trees (pine, fir, maple and birch) shade the site, and are spaced well for hammocks. The site is contoured into the hills and there is a feeling of security and privacy. The undergrowth has been cleared enough to offer site-lines of the creek and the backs of the old barns that are part of our hobby farm. Rockingham was founded on the energy of falling water to cut lumber and grind grain. The mills have long washed downstream, but remnants do exist. Of the town that supported it, remain the church (now a popular museum), the general store, hotel, and school (which are all private residences), and the blacksmith shop and farm which are part of our care. We have over 100 acres available for you to explore along the Rockingham Creek Valley. You will find footpaths to explore around the Falls, as well as a multi-kilometer hiking trail that winds up the valley side, along a ridge and to a look-out. The historic John Watson Road follows along the creek as it flows downstream. It bisects our land, is great for gravel or mountain bikes, and is part of our 1 hour hiking loop. Please follow the signs and directions. We offer two other sites on various platforms, The FALLSVIEW RV-SITE, and KABINKA OVER-LOOKS POND. Each area is about 1 acre in size. They are marked and privacy is provided by landscaping, hillsides and trees. You may encounter like-minded travelers on the extended trail network. "WE" are August Edward, farmer-engineer-firefighter; Jess Gardner, mother-gardener-portrait artist; Chris Mac, forester-horseman-seamster. We welcome YOU, adventurers, de-compressors, or just one-night travelers to this valley and hope you sleep peacefully and find something to laugh about in the morning.

FALLSVIEW RV-SITE

(3)
RV/tent site · Sleeps 10 · Vehicles under 53 ft
The Fallsview RV-site is 1 of 3 areas we offer to guests as a homebase to explore the Rockingham Creek Valley. Located at the old mill site, you will be sleeping to the sound of falling water of the historic Rockingham Falls. This site is the most accessible (read: big RVs and small cars) being directly beside John Watson Road. It is basic (no hook-ups). There is an outhouse and access to a shallow part of the creek. The site was formerly used to transfer sawed lumber onto waiting wagons to be used by the original settlers of the area. There is a narrow area to pull-in, and it is immediately beside the township maintained gravel road. There are bushes along the fence-line that separates the road and they give enough privacy. There are a few flat spots to pitch tents, as well as a small fire-pit. CABIN overlooks POND w/ hiking

Cabin · Sleeps 11 · 4 bedrooms · 5 beds
"Kabinka" is the name of our eastern European inspired Chalet. She is unadorned, a simple off-grid shelter for your wilderness retreat. Configured equally for a large party of family/friends, or for a couple's weekend away (groups over 4 are charged more). The CABIN site is 1 of 3 areas we offer to guests as a homebase to explore the Rockingham Creek Valley. Situated over-looking a pond and creek that flows to the historic Rockingham Falls. This site is the most comfortable (read: camping with a roof) but it is truly off-grid. Our motto is... No service, no electricity, no plumbing, no problems :) Kabinka is an old hunt camp located on our 100+ acres. There is a well-trodden loop to the waterfalls, and we are adding signed sections of trails every season. There is a growing network of trails, winding along Rockingham Creek and surrounding hills, with views of our hobby farm and spectacular waterfalls. You must provide your own bedding, sleeping bags, or sheets. Wool blankets are in the red wood chest. Linens are available in Blue dresser for $10 per bed. Dry hardwood is included for winter heating, and this wood is only to be used for the woodstove. Rockingham was founded on the energy of falling water to cut lumber and grind grain. The mills have long washed downstream, but remnants do exist.
