Due to vehicle problems, I was unable to make my way to the site. Therefore, I can not comment on the facilities and the site. However, Brian was very supportive and attentive throughout. I can say that he is a fantastic host. I will definitely go to this site next time.

Always a pleasure tent camping at Middle Earth, this was our third time here, second time at the woodlands camp site! The fall colours were incredible and we got to hang out with the squirrels and toads. This spot is very private with lots of space for parking and tents, and a nice large fire ring. Definitely prepare the necessities for taking care of business in the wild!

We had a non profit youth group that was having difficulty finding a site for a bit of a larger group than usual, until we spoke to Brian. From the start to the end, and even after forgetting an item at the site once we left, he was supporting us and helping us in any way possible. A really kind and considerate person with a beautiful camp site that was perfect for us and made for the best vibes all weekend! Definitely recommend this site, there is a provincial park down the road that is also really nice with public showers we utilized with day passes. Couldn’t be a better location, gas station also really close with a shop and a local ice cream spot as well! Overall, really great host (the ratings don’t lie!) and an amazing camp ground that gives the full camping experience even with us in a bit of a bigger group.

Private site w lots of space

Due to a little mix up we ended up at the woodlands site, a remote spot further down from where the blueberry site is. Lots of deer flies but those scattered quickly once we sprayed ourselves down w repellent and got a fire going. Very quiet site with lots of space, we liked it so much we’ll likely book the woodlands site again next time! Lots of cute tiny frogs all over 😍

The site was very secluded and private which was very nice and Brian was a great host, very accommodating and helped out a lot! The area is very beautiful and there are a lot of cool sights to see so I would recommend! Don't expect a built up or fancy site, but it's great for people who prefer a quieter and smaller environment!

We had an incredible experience at Brian’s campground. My wife and I, and a couple of friends, spent a memorable time there, and it exceeded our expectations. Brian was the perfect host: warm, accommodating, and genuinely passionate about the land. One of the highlights was riding in his stunning 1985 Parisienne. As a car enthusiast, it was a real treat. Brian took us deep into the woods, showing us his favorite hidden spots and sharing the area's rich history. It wasn’t just a camping trip—it felt like a journey through time, guided by someone who cares about the place. This was our first time camping in Canada, and Brian made it unforgettable. The campground itself was well-maintained, peaceful, and full of charm. I can’t recommend this place enough—whether you're an avid camper or trying it for the first time, you’ll be in great hands.

Middle Earth experience

Helpful and friendly people. If you like wild camping, this is the place! It is secluded, no camper parking lot here! Also, come on, MIDDLE EARTH! If you want the WHOLE experience, you get black flies too, just like the midges the hobbits walked through in the marshes. (We did have one whole day without any flies or mosquitoes though.) Lake St Peter is close, there's a Provincial Park there with hiking and more, and Maynouth just up the road has a bunch of antique and craft shops. The place was perfect for camping with dogs, our dogs had a great time. Thanks!

The campsite has only a fireplace, which means you need to be full equipped to camp. The campsite was clean, away from other campsites and the parking spot for our vehicle was very closed to it. The property is a couple minutes away from Algonquin Park East Entrance. Brian and his wife were extremely nice and explain us everything, even borrow us some camping chairs I forgot to pack. It was a nice and a recommended experience.

Fluffy moss and tiny frogs

A beautiful, mossy, cozy spot amongst the trees! We enjoyed our night here and would love to come back. Brian was such a lovely host, and Blueberry hill was delightful! It is fairly close to the next site, but we were lucky to be the only ones there that night.

I recently stayed at this Hip Camp site with a large group and had a generally good experience but encountered a few issues that others might want to be aware of when booking. The site was advertised as private with its own toilet facilities, but from our campsite, we could clearly see the other two campsites and hear our neighbors. The toilet was shared with the larger campsite, and the tarp did not close properly, which compromised privacy. We also had people accidentally walking through our campsite, which was disappointing since we specifically booked a private site to avoid this. Additionally, while the site is advertised as dog-friendly on leash, there was an off-leash dog that wandered around and nipped at our dog. This led us to walk her home multiple times, which was an inconvenience. It's also worth noting that the additional camper fees are not clearly represented on the booking page. This was an unexpected surprise and something future campers might want to clarify before finalizing their reservations. Despite these issues, we had a great time overall. However, I wish I had been aware of these details when booking.

Perfect camping spot for à large group of friends like us. Brian was very friendly and welcoming we love this spot and recommended it in a heartbeat. Take note that the camping spot is not very far from is house though so for wild campers maybe consider somewhere else but still the spot was very nice thanks alot Brian!

Hot Spot Between the Lakes

First, the Dragonfly is aptly named. There was dragonflies zipping around in the sun, eating their fill (I suppose) while we had our morning coffee. The site was private, flat and clean. The host was accommodating and helpful. In addition, this place is the hot spot between the lakes. A lake on either side just a short drive away (Mink Lake and Lake St. Peter). great swimming and kayaking... or SUP boarding, canoeing, etc. Mink Lake was a quiet paddle with few boaters, kayakers, SUP boarders. FYI Mink Lake will bring you into Algonquin Park. Don't tell anyone, our secret.

Spacious Camping!

Camping at Middle Earth was fantastic, there was plenty of room for the kids to run and the dog to join them, Brian was a great host and gave us some good spots to check out within 5-15 minutes of the campsite and was always there with wood and water when requested! The kids loved the trails around the campground and I was conveniently located close to lake st. Peter provincial park. Will definitely look into returning in the future !

We stayed at Blueberry Hill, The site itself was beautiful, and peaceful. Although there was no bathrooms within walking distance as the description in the ad stated, we had to drive 5 mins down the road for a bathroom. We ordered bundles of wood, but it was freshly cut so didn’t burn well.

It was a very nice campsite, very secluded. Getting there was pretty easy, I'd recommend using a car with a high(ish) suspension since mine did get scraped a little bit on the underneath, no damage but still. Overall i loved my stay there, nothing to complain about other than mosquitos 😂

Brian went over and Beyond to make sure we were comfortable. First night offered us some basic foods until we could get to a store. Offered us a different site to avoid all the bugs , fire wood was offered . Had Garbage and Recycling bins at Every site ! i definitely highly recommend and will be staying there again if we come back to the area!

We had a great two night stay at the firefly camp site! It was spacious and private. There were plenty of fireflies! It was a great spot for the family. Dog friendly too! Brian is a great host. He had some great suggestions for local swimming, fishing, and hiking spots.

Overall it was an ok experience. We were offered the option of a larger site, so we decided to take it. The directions to the other sites was a little confusing, and since there are no signs at all, we ended up in the wrong spot. It turned out fine, because where we ended up was basically public land. I really think the hosts should at least have some small signage of some sort to direct people to the proper spots. One of the hosts gave us some good information for the local lakes, which was very appreciated, even though we didn't end up going to them.

Had a great time at Brian’s land even though it rained all weekend. Made the best of it. So close to atv trails. The site was extremely secluded def from all and was nice to just hear nature all day and night I’m would definitely stay again if I came to the area again Thank you again for all the help getting me sorted out
