Ivan’s land is immediately comforting and relaxing. The open spaces are soothing to the eye and spirit, and he knows how to let people enjoy it without imposing and also when to check in. As I left, I already missed the place, and started planning my next trip back.

Meaford memories 💓

What a lovely weekend we had at Ivan's property 😀 He's a wealth of knowledge about native fruit trees & berries. The front of the property has an extensive orchard that Ivan has worked on for ten years. Check his booth out at the Meaford Farmers market if you have the chance! The campsite was in a lush grassy area neighboring a cover crop plot that provided lovely views. An old fire pit was provided and we made good use of it. The farm is close to town and you can easily make a visit to owen sound/ thornbury/ Collingwood to flesh out a full weekend trip. We had a blast and highly recommend 👌

Van Life at The Hive

I loved camping with my Grand Caravan on Ivan‘s land at The Hive site. It was easy to access yet very peaceful. A great sunrise and sunset full of nature sounds. It’s a sunny site but perfect for going off to one of the Georgian Bay beaches during the hottest times of day. When I arrived Ivan also said I could camp further back in the fields if I wished. Ivan was friendly and helpful and there were wonderful fresh berries for sale. Everything was as described or as shown in the pictures.

Great quiet spot

Love camping in my tent over the weekend on Ivan’s property. He let me freely choose the site as long as I kept off the plowed areas which worked out really great for me. Neighborhood is nice and quiet. The lake and city is not too far away with hardware stores and restaurants. Will definitely come back in the near future

It was a beautiful place to stay. We saw fireflies and the stars looked close enough to touch. Ivan was kind and welcomed us to join a campfire with his friends and family. We had everything we needed. I would definitely stay here again. Thanks Ivan!

Site 5 Tiny House

Arrived late at night and took me a while to locate the cabin in the dark which is on the right side in a lower corner of the tree lines, the second grass field, after the outhouse, RVs, shower and main house. Map on site not very helpful, but I'd arrive in the daytime. Cabin is exactly as photoed. There's solar power but no lights inside. I charged my power station with the 100W solar panel. Plug and play. A furnace is not set up so don't use it. Use the firepit outside. Lots of firewoods. Cellphone reception is dismal, but you get the best reception near the RVs where there is a cellphone tower not far from there. Oh and there's warm shower during the day. Host was patient and friendly. Thanks for the stay.

If solitude is what you are looking for, you have found it. Ivan’s massive property goes on forever. There was not another person to be seen and only the faint sound of the occasional car in the far off distance. Yet it is only a short drive away from the lovely town of Meaford and many beautiful hikes. Relax and enjoy.

Site 5 Tiny House

Ivan was so patient and helpful when planning our trip. We were coming with three dog-selective dogs and wanted to ensure we would be far from other guests with dogs. Ivan was quick to respond and suggested which site would be best. We chose the tiny house to offer an option for the dogs to have some time away from each other and although unfinished it was clean and comfortable and offered a good night sleep when I discovered my dog was not a tent sleeper lol. There is a forested area but otherwise it’s a field so a shade tent is recommended on hot sunny days (and rainy days too!). You can hear the guns from the neighbouring gun club but otherwise it is quiet and peaceful. I am directionally challenged and found the map to be a bit confusing, signs would have been helpful. The toilet is a ways away from a few of the sites, so be prepared. My dog adored running through the field, it ended up being perfect for him and gave him the freedom he doesn’t normally get. Meaford proper is only a few mins away and offers a beach and cute downtown worth checking out. Would come back and would recommend!

Ivan was great at providing directions and making us feel welcome. We had a great time! The site description fails to mention the there are bee hives directly beside the camp site which is fine unless you have a curious dog or kid. The drive on the property to the site is a bit rough on your car if you have a regular car and not a truck. There were also loads of fire ants at our site which made it uncomfortable for us (especially the dogs). Also very limited shade. That being said, that's part of camping and those things aren't necessarily manageable so no fault to the host at all. The outhouse was clean and firewood was super convenient and a great price. Very private and loads of room for dogs and kids to run and play.

Great time camping here! Ivan the host was wonderful there to greet us when we arrived let us follow him around back to this amazing camp site that we will defiantly be going back to. The weeds were extremely long but his lawn mower broke and the people haven’t came to do it so kinda a downfall but the camp site was great and Ivan was great host to let us know everything going on. Thank you for your hospitality and we will defiantly be back to this site in particular! Added note if you love start you can not miss the stay at this site it is up on a hill near lots of trees behind you so when it goes dark you see thousands of beautiful stars so so perfect

The host is nice, I got free firewood which is good, but if they can cut the grass for entering road property will be better (the grass other than campsite spot there have about 2 feet high) cause not easy to walk and drive in and out,

Calm and cozy stay

We loved it all. Its a very large plot of land. The glamper tent is super comfy, very tall. You can set the fire and watch the sky get darker. The toillet is septic and not the easiest. There was no water in the toilet.

Would recommend! Pros - private - dog friendly + no mud in immediate area - tons of space (a couple fields worth) - 4 chairs provided - contained fire pit - wood available on site (branches and such) - Ivan is very nice, welcoming, and communicative - 6 min drive to Meaford Considerations - field has a rough plant stalk, so: a) make sure your tent has a footprint b) your dog's may not enjoy the space - if wet, you'll want 4 wheel drive to get in and out as there is a small hill - No outhouse or easily accessible bathroom for those who prefer

Secluded field tent camping

Ivan and Yan were great hosts. Very accommodating but gave us space as needed. Secluded tent camping surrounded by tall grass. There were other campers near by but so far away we could not see then or hear them. Hoping to visit this site again plus the nice town of Meaford.

Ivan was very friendly and greeted us upon arrival, despite us getting there a bit late! The site was very basic, just a patch of grass with a makeshift fire pit, but it did the job. Would stay again!

A spacious tent tucked in a lovely meadow! Very private and lovely to just sit and be in nature. Swimming, trails and amenities are close by. Ivan was super helpful and has a great garden. I had the best asparagus I’ve ever had!! Keep in mind there are beehives relatively close to the camp, and you must drive (or park and walk) across the meadow of tall grass to get to the tent

My husband and I had the best time camping here. It was so peaceful and the long grass made for extra padding when sleeping. We had a lovely fire, our hosts were wonderful and we will definitely go back!

Ivan was a very friendly host and made us very comfortable during our stay. He stayed at a house which was near the field and was always available at anytime in case we needed anything. Would definitely revisit again ☺️
