Big Rock Eco Retreat is a serene and picturesque campground located on the shores of Weslemkoon Lake, in Addington Highlands Township. Situated amidst the breathtaking natural beauty of the surrounding crown land, this eco-friendly retreat offers visitors an unforgettable outdoor experience. The area is home to a variety of native wildlife, including moose, deer, black bears, loons, and eagles, which can often be spotted in their natural habitats. The campsite offers individual fire pits and gas BBQs at each site, allowing visitors to enjoy the great outdoors while cooking up a delicious meal. Hiking enthusiasts can explore the extensive network of hiking trails that wind through the woods, while fishing enthusiasts can try their luck in the lake, which is teeming with fish in the summertime. In the winter, visitors can enjoy ice fishing, snowmobiling, and snowshoeing, with well-maintained trails for all levels of experience. Each camping site can accommodate a hot tub for an additional fee, based on availability, making it a perfect way to unwind and relax. For those who want to explore the lake further, there is a marina with a general store open in the summer time. Visitors can purchase additional services such as smore kits, fishing rods, small boat rentals, private boat tours of the lake, and snowshoes in the winter. This forest site with lake access is located in our 32 acre forest that backs onto crown land and has access to ponds and Weslemkoon Lake. The spring fed lake is excellent for fishing, swimming and complementary canoes and kayaks are available for you to explore! The outdoor washroom facilities are just a short walk down the trail. It's a moderate walk down and up hill to the washroom facility. You have the choice to stay at this site or in the meadow below if the hike up and down does not suit your preference. There is also a comfort station on the property just a short 10 mins walk away from the campsite area. The property is also located near extensive ATV and sledding trails as well as a short drive to Bancroft. The local Marina sells basic camping supplies, some food items and Kawartha Dairy ice cream. The tent sites are best for experienced campers as there are wildlife in the area and cooking facilities are not located on the tenting sites. Please DO NOT keep food in your tent. Please take the food to your car or store in a cooler in your vehicle. If you need assistance please let us know. There are hammocks for your enjoyment and relaxation, fire pit, high table or a picnic table, stumps, and cleared areas for a few tents. There is also water on the site for cooking. Firewood is provided the first night and additional wood can be purchased. Please do not bring outside wood into the campsites. You must bring your own camping gear when booking one of our tent sites. It is the true outdoor with nature experience as the site backs onto Crown land. Vehicles are not permitted at the camping sites.

Reconnect with nature at this unforgettable escape on 32 acres with lake access. Experience glamping with the comforts of home at an introductory price! This is our DOME IN PROGRESS and is ready to be booked! The best time to enjoy a discounted rate while we finish our bathroom renovations! The bathroom is going to be spectacular and is currently blocked off from guests so you can enjoy the rest of the dome unobstructed. In the interim, a comfort station with full shower is just steps away, approximately a 2 mins walk from the dome. There is a queen bed with linens and blankets, a comfy couch and some games. The kitchenette has a full fridge, toaster oven, Keurig coffee maker with some coffee, potable water, kitchen table, plates, glasses, utensils, and other essentials. Also ask about our add-ons such as smore's kits, movie night packages and pontoon tours. On your site there will be a six person private hot tub for your enjoyment, BBQ with side burner (propane provided), picnic table, firepit, Muskoka chairs, hammock and enough wood for your first night with additional wood available for a small fee. Please do not bring outside wood into the campsite. The site is next to the main area and guest parking however there is enough space to still experience some privacy. You have convenient access to a beautiful lake, offering a wide array of outdoor activities to satisfy your adventurous spirit. Whether it's kayaking, fishing, or simply enjoying a leisurely pontoon tour, the possibilities are endless. There are complementary canoes and kayaks. There are extensive hiking trails on the 32 acre property as well as Crown land trails to explore. Please always be aware of your surroundings as wildlife are present. You can enjoy the immediate surroundings or use our camp as a base for travel to visit Bon Echo for the day, take a drive to a local beach about 50 mins away, or travel to Bancroft for a day of shopping and enjoying the local shops. There is also a marina just a 10 mins walk where you can enjoy gorgeous lake views and buy some Kawartha Dairy ice cream! And we also sell ice by the bag if needed. It will be a trip to remember!

This site is home to our cozy rustic cabin with hot tub that has a comfy double bed and bunk trundle bed with linens and blankets. The cabin sleeps five people comfortably. This site has a mini fridge, potable water, outdoor BBQ with side burner, fire pit, wood burning stove, indoor and outdoor tables, plates, glasses, utensils, Muskoka chairs, front porch, an indoor composting toilet with small sink and access to an outdoor washroom facility. In the summer months there is a comfort station with a full shower just a short 10 mins walk. The cabin boasts stunning views of the private pond and forest. In the evenings take in billions of stars in the night sky away from city light pollution. The first bundle of firewood is provided and then you must purchase additional firewood as needed (sold on site). Ice is available for purchase as well as WiFi services for a daily fee as well. Ask about our add-on packages with smore's kits, deluxe movie nights or pontoon tours to local islands for exploring and swimming. You can take one of our trails that leads to Crown land as well as to Weslemkoon Lake. The local marina is a short walk down the road where you can purchase basic camping supplies, some groceries (basic necessities), souvenirs and Kawartha Dairy ice cream. Also within 1.5 hours is Bon Echo Provincial Park and within 1 hour you are able to visit Bancroft and take in the local stores and restaurants. As well in the Bancroft area there are extensive ATV and sledding trails. There are local beaches approx. 50 mins drive away and small town stores to explore. The cabin is available year round and is a perfect base camp for snowmobiling, cross country skiing or ice fishing. Don't miss this year round getaway!

Relaxation & Rejuvenation

What a wonderful time away where it felt that time stood still in the midst of falling leaves and glorious rays of sunshine. Jason and Susie ensured to meet all needs with prompt responses and, when needed, support. We enjoyed viewing the property, a peaceful boat ride and, of course, the accommodations. We didn't want to leave. A true bucket filling experience where we left feeling relaxed and grateful. Only regret is not booking an extra day.

I loved our stay with my wife and my dog at one of the tents. Jason was very kind and helped us to bring our stuff to the place with a small car. The place is simply the best we have ever been to. We really loved it and will come back soon!

Lakeside Glamping Dome with Hot Tub

We stayed at the lakeside dome for two nights and loved every moment. It was peaceful, well maintained and had everything we needed. When we arrived Jason, the owner, and Rocky his very friendly dog came to greet us. He gave us a tour of the property and the other sites and answered any questions we had. We also went on a tour of the lake which was beautiful. He was very passionate and knowledgeable about the area and reccomepnded places we could go. 100/10 could not reccomend enough. We will definitely be coming back!

Amazing Stay – Pet Friendly & Great

We stayed at Jason and Suzy’s property from last Saturday until Tuesday, and we had an amazing time! The place is very pet-friendly, which was perfect since we brought our dog along. The campsite had everything we needed: firewood available, potable water, and showers on-site. Jason and Suzy were incredibly attentive and helpful throughout our stay. We enjoyed a fun boating activity where we went all the way to an island – such a beautiful experience! There were also options for kayaking and boating, which made the trip even more special. If you’re looking for a peaceful and welcoming place with great hosts and activities on the water, this is definitely the spot! We would love to come back.

The hospitality was too tier! Between the round abouts to check in to see if we needed anything, the delivery of wood, the water delivery to the extensive boat trip to an island to swim for a few hours! I HIGHLY recommend booking with Jason and Susie!

We had a wonderful and relaxing weekend! Jason and Susie were incredibly friendly and welcoming hosts—truly grateful for their hospitality. The campsite was beautiful, quiet, and surrounded by trees, offering a peaceful and private setting. Jason even offered us the option to stay at another site, which was a thoughtful touch. Using the canoes was a fantastic bonus and made for a memorable experience on the water. Highly recommend this spot for anyone looking to unplug and enjoy nature!

Lakeside Glamping Dome with Hot Tub

My wife and I had an amazing two-night stay at the Lakeside Dome at Big Rock Eco Retreat. The whole experience was peaceful, memorable, and incredibly well-hosted. Jason, the owner, was fantastic—very responsive and helpful throughout our stay. He took us on an ATV tour of the property, gave us a boating lesson, and took us out on the lake. We also enjoyed the company of his energetic, well-trained dog, Rocky. If you’re looking for a top-notch glamping experience in a dome, this is the place to go. There’s also a beautiful Hillside Dome on the property that we got to check out, and it looked just as amazing. The 3-hour drive from the GTA was absolutely worth it!

Relaxing romantic stay

Lakeside Glamping Dome with Hot Tub

Beautiful area. We stayed in the lakeside dome which is being set up for accessibility. We got a tour of the dome on the hill. Next trip we will use that one. Very private, amazing views. Hot tub at both makes for a relaxing romantic stay. Owner was very responsive for any questions or issues and resolved quickly.

Awesome Winter Getaway!

We absolutely loved staying at Susie and Jason's dome in the woods. Jason met us upon arrival and drove us through the property to the dome. He spent a good amount of time going over everything to make sure we were comfortable and knew how to operate the pellet stove and water. We happened to arrive the day a huge snow storm was coming, so the scenery was beautiful. No better place to be to hunker down! The dome was comfortable and clean. The kitchen had all the necessities. Beds and pillows were excellent. The loft bed even has dual remotes so you and you partner can adjust it according to your likes. Hot tub was awesome to have a soak in at night under the stars. Added bonus was how the surrounding forest was dimmly lit up with black lights at night. All in all our time here was awesome. The only recommendation I would give the hosts is to make sure the dome is heated upon the guest's arrival. We will be back again for sure! Thanks for a great mid-week getaway from the kids!

We truly enjoyed staying Big Rock Eco retreat. Jason was super helpful and accommodating. We packed and left the city in the afternoon Friday rush and forgot a few key items. Jason being a super host, came in handy and made sure we had a great and smoothest experience possible. The resort territory is clean and beautiful. Kayaks a free to use and the lake was warm so we went for a swim on Saturday! We will definitely come back, thinking of ice fishing now! I recommend this resort for both single and family campers.

This particular site would be great for new campers wanting to experience camping. It is not actually in the forest but abutts it. The site is flat for pitching your tent however, make sure of placement away from the hillside as the water will shed directly to your tent if it rains heavily. The siting of the campsite and the hillside trees offer some shade to keep your tent cooler.

Jason and Susie were exceptional hosts. Jason took great care of us, making sure we got enough wood and water. When we first arrived, Jason took us on a tour of the property in his side-by-side which was really awesome. They take a lot of pride in their property and it shows. It's really easy to get to (make sure you go through Madoc) and Jason has everything set up so you don't need to bring too much (just food and booze). Would love to stay in the dome next time!

Lake Access Rustic Cabin w/ Hot Tub

This was a perfect winter weekend away! The rustic cabin looked just like the pictures - the woodfire stove kept us toasty warm! There was lots to do on-site - we brought skis, snowshoes, and skates and used them all! Jason was a wonderful host - he even cleared the ice on the lake making a skating rink for the kids! He was always available to answer questions and help as needed. We look forward to seeing the place again in the summer season.

Gorgeous little park

My wife and I booked this site last minute as other plans fell through along our road trip. Jason contacted me before I arrived to ensure I had a smooth drive to the park with no surprises . He met us at the front entrance and took us over to see the site , after chatting for a little bit about the fact that we would be taking off early he offered us another site that was more accommodating to our needs . Both sites were absolutely gorgeous. Jason and Susie were super friendly and easy going , the lake was was beautiful, the fishing was good. I would highly recommend. Will return with the kiddos , definitely a family friendly park!

Jason is the single most accommodating and respectful host I've ever had. I asked him if the local marina sold bug spray, and he just gave me a can. He even offered to take me and my son out on the water to an island to clif jump. The campsite was beautiful and I've never seen more stars in my life. My only gripe was the lack of recycle and garbage bins, but other than that small issue, this is the best camping I've ever done.
