Welcome to Almost Paradise in Northern Ontario. We are 15 minutes off the Trans Canada highway, north of Blind River. 5-6 hours northwest of Toronto and 9 hours east of Thunder Bay, between Sault Saint Marie and Sudbury. Looking for a wilderness get away or just driving through? We can accommodate. Need internet? We have Starlink!. We also have star gazing and sunsets! As a new camp spot, upgrades at Almost Paradise are ongoing, including renovations to make a house into a cottage. Our 4 season camper, equipped with a woodstove is also now back at Almost Paradise and is available again for those that need accommodations and want a rustic and cozy option. Backwater Paradise was flooded out from a very wet spring and Almost Paradise was created as a backup. We have a new seasonal shower unit at this location, available to all our campers. Check out our extras!! We have 1 tent site, 1 RV site and a 4 season camp with an extra 4 person dome tent to accommodate extra people. This past winter was very forgiving and gave us the opportunity to work on a new bush trail at Backwater Paradise, for visiting nature lovers and plan on keeping it useable in winter. The trail is available to all our campers. . Some is lakefront and some is marsh. There is seasonal berries everywhere here. Please bring binoculars!! Almost Paradise has all of the same benefits as Backwater Paradise campers and just across the road. Including use of the lake, and the nature trail to Left Field and all of the extras. (eggs, firewood sales, shower and paddle boat) In Lake Hope there is plenty of bass and pike to keep a fisher and kid fishers busy. Common gear will work here and strongly recommend using wire swivel leaders. We promote 'lake 2 plate' principles and if you need anything let us know!! All campers have use of the water front no matter where your site is. On the shore of the lake front is a very large common area with firepit and a picnic table to enjoy the water and the shoreline. Lately a family of geese have been frequent visitors over there. We host fires Friday and Saturday nights weather permitting at this location. Almost Paradise has a gravel driveway and slopes towards the lake so you still get a good view of the lake. The driveway is the best spot for an RV. Our Muscovy ducks are at Almost Paradise, beside the camping. They are quiet but funny looking 😊 The next property over is our farm, where we free range our chickens and ducks with 2 livestock guardian dogs. Fresh eggs are available.

Site 1 is the grassy space you will see on the left, entering the driveway. It has the best view of the lake but furthest from the washroom/shower. It is a flat area beside some massive pines.

This listing was created because Backwater Paradise and Left Field got too wet to accommodate camping this past spring. We have decided to keep it open and build it up. A newly installed shower is the latest addition for all our campers. We will have a cottage rental in the future. The camping space is close to the road with 1 tent site and 1 RV. The best spot here for RVs is on the driveway. The attributes are the same as our other locations, like generators, outhouse use, and of course campfires, fishing and the same available extras. Firewood, egg sales and small boats to rent.

Beautiful spot with a stunning sunset over the lake- definitely the highlight of our stay! Jackie was very welcoming, and the shower and toilet were clean and modern, which was a great bonus. Highly recommend!

Have a good sleep on site and took advantage of the shower. Modern full shower facility. Wifi accessible from camp site. Will be happy to stay here again next time I am in the area.

This is such a little slice of Heaven! The first time driving this far north, and would do it without hesitation to be here! The place is clean, the shower is so unexpectedly boujee, and Jackie is probably the most fun you are ever going to meet! Very personable, amazing, and passionate about every inch of her property! If you’re on the fence about booking, please do yourself a favour and get on it! Once people witness how great it is, getting a spot will be hard!

4 Season Trailer Camp

Host was communicative leading up to our stay, and proactive with directions and creating meeting time. Unfortunately, we had an unexpected issue come up and were unable to make it for our stay. I notified host we couldn’t make it, and never heard anything back. I didn’t request refund or anything, so not sure why the radio silence. I would say that the communication was good up until that point. Can’t comment on the property itself.

I loved camping with my tent and our dogs. It was such a such a lovely peaceful spot and the lake was beautiful. Jackie is such a great host and willing to help whenever we needed it. Would definitely recommend it to anyone.

4 Season Trailer Camp

The host directed me to take Hwy 557. Parking in front. The camper RV super clean. Weather got chilly so I paid extra for hot shower. Worth it. The bathroom was spotless. The wood stove in the RV came in handy. Lighter in the kitchen. Egg holders under the wood stove for starting a fire and firewood and a bottle of water close by. All lights worked in RV. If you don't need the fridge, use the power cord for charging your Internet-of-things. Blind River has restaurants, gas stations, banks, etc.

We loved camping on Jackie's property. So quiet and dark at night. Wonderful night sky experience. Her property is so secluded that hers is the only property on her lake. Absolutely loved it.

I loved the location. Really nice view on the lake. Jackie was really nice and let me chose any spot I wanted as I was alone. She also gave me a lot of wood for the fire and even some to make more smoke for the mosquitoes.

Early season so waterfront was too soft from the rain. No problem we were situated in a dry area on their property with a lake view. Very quiet and great sleep, Good spot to spend some time when the weather cooperates, nice little lake and there are boats with electric motors available for fishing. Very congenial host who is constantly improving what is on offer
