Farm stay is misleading as this isn’t an operating farm, however, there is a lot of open space out back. We couldn’t find our host and the place seemed sort of abandoned. That being said, an outdoor communal kitchen is still a really great concept.

Everything with booking my stay was without issue. I let the host know the purpose of my trip, to which they replied "Looking forward to hosting you!" which is the only communication I have ever received from them. On the day of my arrival, I messaged to let the host know when I would be arriving. I received no reply at the time, but that's not abnormal; some people are busy etc. That's fine. When I arrived, I could not find the host, despite the listing instructions being "Upon arrival: meet with host." I then messaged them, called their phone (it was off) to let them know I had arrived but didn't know where to go. The host failed to provide instructions on the site or on how to locate the site. I also could not confirm I was even at the right property, as the host provided only coordinates to their location and no specific address. I waited around in town for a few hours, then returned, and they still were not around and hadn't replied to calls or messages. I still have had no contact with the host so I don't know what happened. That is, I don't know the reason for their absence. If they were away for the weekend or something, that's fine, you just have to let your guests know. Or, why not block it off if you cannot host? A message is free. I left without staying any of the 6 nights I had booked. The host did send a refund, or the request expired and the refund was automatic, I don't know. Either way, I do not recommend this host, this listing, or this site.

Hosts were extremely friendly and accommodating! You can tell they take pride in their property and the location is perfect! So much to do within a 5 mile radius. Highly recommend this stay!

Place has potential. But it shows a lack of care. The hostess gave only cryptic directions to a location that was not marked or identified in any way; did not answer texts, did not answer calls, was not present on site (though the listing indicated she would be.) Much of the area needs a mowing. On the upside, nice fire ring, had the place to ourselves, nice fields and tree. Traffic from road might bother some.

Stayed one night. Overall it met all our needs. Beautiful sunset and rise. Site one was a bit close to road,if traffic noise bothers you, you will need ear plugs. Ametties could use some TLC.

Wonderful tranquil stay! The backyard kitchen was super cozy and I was lucky enough to land on a night when the wood-fired sauna was hot 🥰 An absolute dream. And my first time in Oberlin! Loved it, would abso return 💕

This land has easy access to IH 80 and great potential for camping. However, the camp area was not recently mowed and I was uncomfortable walking in the ankle deep growth with lots of missed tuffs. I had not prepped my clothing and tent for ticks. The path to the kitchen had long (4ft) native grasses overlapping the narrow mowed part and the access to the basement shower had 2-3 ft grasses to walk through.
I chose to leave and found other accommodations. With care taken to keep the camp area mowed, I can see this would be a lovely easy stop with decent privacy. The road and house are in sight but not close.

The site is a beautiful meadow, and the hosts could not be any more accommodating or friendly! The only issue I had was the area I was supposed to set up still had knee-high grass and I had a few ticks. The owners quickly set me up on site and a great spot and even allowed me to use the shower in the morning! Not sure that is a regular thing but regardless it is a nice spot

Site is close to the town of Oberlin & convenient to things there.
I was worried about the highway noise but it quiets down in the evening & through the night.

This was a nice easy place to camp with friendly hosts. There is plenty of space to spread out, and amenities that make it comfortable. My son especially loved the fire pit and friendly chickens. I especially loved the view of wide open fields on two sides, and the sounds of the frogs at the pond overnight.

Nice place. It was raining pretty hard while I was there (1 night) so I didn’t see much. Has a covered picnic table area and a paved level place to park. Very close to Oberlin, which is a nearly nice town. Not too much a a detour from rt 80. Good overnight, about 500 miles from NYC going east.

This was a great place to stay! It was a little noisy with the road nearby, but we appreciated having a covered area to cook and watch the sunset. Running water is always a plus!

This is a really mellow, spacious, and generous HipCamp spot. Michal and her partner Henry have several spots on their roadside farm property where you can easily tent camp or park a campervan (and some RVs would fit). I slept next to the outdoor kitchen 2 nights and under the honey locust closer to the outhouse (but not too close) on my last night. By the way: outdoor kitchen! It was so nice to be able to cook. One suggestion for Michal and Henry: maybe installing a rack or hooks to hang the pans would help the oil or water drip off them after use, as mosquitoes sometimes got trapped on in the surface of pans stored horizontally. It was fine to clean them before using them - a very camping thing to do - but that idea came to mind while I was using the kitchen. I would say the wifi at the listing is not really a thing unless you're very close to the house, but you're 3 minutes from the town center of Oberlin, tiny but mighty in coffeeshops, a scrumptious bakery, and restaurants. This is more of a "sleeping in a camping style near a town" situation to me than "getting lost in the wilderness." Civilization is right there. But since I needed to work remotely while car camping during the week, this was exactly what I needed. p.s. I didn't use the shower since I have a gym membership, but I was told there's a shower in the basemenr through the red storm doors.
