Nestled in an ancient hollow at the foot of the Appalachians, Dragon Hollow Nature Sanctuary spans 30 acres of mature forest, mountain springs, and stream-side meadows bordering another 40,000 acres of Pisgah National Forest.
Set up camp by the 150-year-old barn, hike the trails, then enjoy the sounds of the babbling creek as you settle under the whispering trees for a sweet night's sleep.
Dragon Hollow boasts abundant wildlife, native flora, and rare species of plants and animals, thanks to its relatively undisturbed forest ecosystem. Bounded by ridges on three sides and set well back from the road, you'll enjoy the quiet solitude of this secluded location, surrounded only by the sounds of the woods.
Local Wonders:
Dragon Hollow's secluded location is only minutes from a rich selection of attractions. Enjoy the quaint architecture and scenic panoramas of nearby Blowing Rock, NC, as well as its diverse dining options, unique shopping, and local art and history museums. Or drive the other direction for a stunning afternoon swimming and playing in the healing waters of Wilson Creek Gorge. Waterfalls line the roads if you fancy a drive through the foothills, or head to the Blue Ridge Parkway or Grandfather Mountain for gorgeous views at any time of year.

TO ACCESS AND USE THE SITE:
Enter the driveway to the Northwest of the road (into the woods and toward the historic barn, NOT toward the house). There is a rope across the driveway entrance, with the words Dragon Hollow. Take it down from the left to enter, and put it back in place when you leave.
The driveway splits partway up. To the left is the barn, and to the right is the entrance to miles of trails. Keep your vehicle on graveled areas to avoid getting stuck in the mud. The ground is much wetter than it looks!
Pitch your tent on the gravel next to the historic barn. Park in the graveled pull-out area on the left, about halfway up the drive. Light your campfire in the stone circle across the driveway from the campsite, in the clearing by the creek.
Feel free to explore the old logging road on foot, and the miles of trails beyond. Please stay on maintained trails to protect the delicate habitats of Dragon Hollow's resident flora and fauna, and observe all signs for your own safety.
