True escape
Astounding pocket of nature, well worth the drive. Beautiful aspect, quiet, native birds & wildlife. Amazing waterfall, swimming hole and creeks to explore. Fire pits & plenty of firewood to collect. Michael is a great host, very friendly and helpful.

Off the beaten track gem...
Such a beautiful patch of paradise - I love secluded camping, which is rarer to find with pooch in tow (no more nat parks) kookakburra was perfect... waterfalls, grass trees and rocky outcrops to boot... definately a 4wd only spot (which makes it even better)... I will be back for sure to explore more walking tracks and gorges...

Rugged and beautiful !
Had a great time at Kookabookra Falls. The falls are spectacular and the scenery over the ranges is awesome. Probably best not to let small children wander as there are some very steep drops and deep waterholes. Michael welcomed us at the gate and guided us to our site, he also gave us information on the highlights and best things to do, and we would suggest it is only suitable if you have an a high clearance "all wheel" or 4WD. We visited Nuggety and panned for gold (lots of specks - unfortunately no nuggets for us : ) although the track probably isn't suited to the 4WD BMW or Mercedes brigade. We also looked for gems at Pinkett (about 20 mins away) and didn't find our fortune there either ! Great fireplaces and heaps of firewood close to the camp sites (we needed it as it got down to -4 overnight !!!). Would definitely recommend for those looking for an escape from the everyday in a rugged and beautiful location.

A ruggedly beautiful, remote property, completely away from it all. We were very lucky and had the whole place to ourselves. We stayed at site 1, right next to the falls and had such a relaxing time. Michael is great host who went out of his way to ensure we enjoyed our stay. The flushing toilet overlooking the valley was a lovely, unexpected touch. I highly recommend Kookabrooka Falls to anyone who wants to disconnect from technology and reconnect with nature.
