This is our second visit to this beautiful slice of off grid life. Even though it rained during a good bit of our stay, the fires kept us cozy.
Gayle is a fabulous host and is always available if you need her.

We stayed at Gayle’s cabin for 2 nights and it was lovely. The cabin is in the middle of the forest, next to field with cows. Its a magical place. Gayle was also really kind!
The only recommendation I would have is to bring extra lights and candles with you. There are solar panels and lamps but they are not working.

Paws Crossing was the most lovely getaway to recharge. Gayle was kind, responsive, and an all around fantastic host.
The cabin has everything you need for seating, cooking, and washing dishes (including a wash basin, soap, and drying rack). Just bring your own oil, spices, and way to make coffee! There is a kettle but we brought grounds and a French press.
The only thing we would note for future guests is to make sure to bring lights if you want them for inside when it gets dark! There were some in the cabin but they were hooked up to a generator that wasn’t running / connected so they didn't work. We definitely could have asked Gayle but we are experienced campers and brought a lantern, headlamps, and battery twinkle lights so we were set anyway! Maybe just check ahead of time :)

What an experience!!! Gayle has knocked it out of the park with this cozy cabin. She had all of the unexpected amenities, like a grill, dishes and bbq tools. I'm glad we had the opportunity to stay here and meet her animals. Perfect location to catch the PEI ferry; just a short drive away.

Paws Crossing Woods Retreat
Paws Crossing is the most perfect little spot. The rustic cabin in the woods was very private while only being a few minutes from the main house. The cabin itself was cozy and had everything you needed. You can really tell the time and attention paid in all the little details that gave the cabin so much character, as well as the upkeep to the property and trails that really made the place extra special. I also especially appreciated how dog friendly it was - my pup had a great time exploring the area, and had his first experience with farm animals, meeting a very curious pony and a few friendly goats. I really can’t say enough good things about Paws Crossing - while rustic, it offered a great set-up with an outside cooking area, fire pit and fire wood (make sure to bring along a few dollars to leave in the organ pipe), outdoor dining table, outhouse, and shower. Gayle was very welcoming and kind, checking in on our arrival time so she could have the buggy ready to help us take our things down to the cabin, and then again to help us bring it back up to the car on our check-out day. Thank you again Gayle for having us to your property, you have an absolutely wonderful place.

Partner and I absolutely loved our stay at the Paws Crossing cabin! Really enjoyed the extra friendly goats and horses, loved swimming in the pond and the cabin’s wood stove. Gayle is the kindest most welcoming host! 100% recommended

Paws Crossing Woods Retreat
I had the most wonderful 3 day winter retreat at Paws Crossing. It is a very private and sweet and rustic little cabin and it has all the basics you might need, other than bedding/towels. The larger space is not great to heat in winter , but the little Annex on the side has a great wood stove and can be closed off enough to stay cozy and warm. I had plenty of wood too. Gayle was so very accommodating and kind. The property is lovely with tons of opportunities for hiking, and seeing the beautiful farm animals. I would highly recommend this little place for anyone looking to get away to a simple and private off grid retreat in the woods. Thank you so much Gayle!

We had great weekend at the cabin, it's everything we could ask for in a camping trip and more. Gayle is super accommodating and the cabin has everything you need. Everything is clean with plenty of space, There's lots of fun activities to do and the scenery is beautiful. Nice beds of moss all through the woods with lots of life. Could still see the stars from outside the cabin and the full moon. We ate really well cooking over the open fire, she leant us a Dutch oven tripod so we could cook a chicken over it. The animals at the farm were very friendly and we wish we could take them home. Would recommend to anyone looking for a rustic cabin camping experience with more privacy than you can find anywhere else. We look forward to comming back every year.

I love the oasis on Gayle's property that she so generously shares with others. The cabin is a cozy spot away from technology and noise of the city. It's a place where you can commune with farm animals and see the stars at night. It's also conveniently close to the Trans Canada Trail! The cabin is well equipped with all the necessities including a spot to do dishes, drinking water, outhouse, outdoor shower, fire pit, indoor and outdoor cooking appliances and more!

Loved the property, cabin and environment. You can't get spot like this anywhere else.
Cabin had everything we needed and more, the shower was great to clean off, the pond was refreshing and the scenery was breathtaking.
Don't worry about not having wood to burn, there is plenty. The bugs pick up at nighttime but we're very manageable.
Battery lights in the cabin but bring extra if you don't see well in the dark.
Host was nothing but kind and accommodating.
Very nice to have a ride in a 4 wheeler to the site as it is quite off grid.
Don't expect a hotel but Highly recommended for anyone that actually enjoys camping and the woods.
Wish I could live there year round, will definitely be back.

I stayed at Gayle's cabin for 3 weeks and had a lovely time! The space is nicely tucked away in the woods and off the grid, however Gayle was always a phone call or ten minute walk away if I needed anything. I enjoyed dips in the pond, chatting with the various animals on the farm, and strolling on the trail Gayle had built.
At the start of my stay I did a meditation retreat and Gayle and her partner were very accommodating - I ended up staying for another week and helping out on the farm. Throughout my stay I felt entirely welcomed and looked after.
I could go on but all in all would highly recommend!!!

Staying in the Paws crossing cabin on Gayles property was the most lovely experience - she couldn’t have been more helpful and organised. The cabin and the area around it is totally secluded but it’s got everything you could think of for camping. There are beautiful trails on the property and very friendly animals on the farm! Wish we could’ve stayed longer honestly it was one of our best camping experiences in Canada

Paws Crossing Woods Retreat
My Granddaughter and I stayed at Paw's Crossing for 3 days. We enjoyed the rustic cabin, the loft, picking blueberries for our breakfast, hiking and swimming in pond and pool, and interacting with goats, ponies and one old horse was an additional delight.

Paws Crossing Woods Retreat
I have nothing but good things to say about Paws Crossings. Gayle was an amazing host, making sure we had everything we needed and checked in on us part way through the stay to make sure we still had the basics. She greeted us within minutes and we loaded up our camping supplies into her side by side. She then slowly drove our supplies back with us walking to explain the property. The cabin and camping area is full of ingenious little hacks and hand-made details such as the hand-carved pegs to keep the door tightly closed, the labyrinth loo, and the showering area. Our dog, Aya, loved being able to roam the camping area, sniffing everything. It was also nice that it was super private and quiet. The loudest thing there was the neighbour's cows or maybe the mosquitoes at night! A warning though: as soon as the sun goes down, the mosquitoes come out, so make sure to pack some deep woods repellent. I would remiss to mention the horses and goats that greet you each time you leave and arrive. They are super friendly! All-in-all, being away from the TV, internet, electricity provided for a really relaxing experience.
A great feature of Paws Crossings is it's location. It was twenty minutes from a U-pick berry place, Trueman Berry Farm, that not only has fantastic raspberries and blueberries but also amazing ice cream. In the other direction about 30 minutes away is Cap-Pele and Aboiteau beach (or Petit-Cap for a dog-friendly beach). A little further is Shediac or Moncton.

A beautiful and secluded retreat away from everything, Gayle's place was a joy to spend two nights in. She was very flexible in my arrival time and gave me a lift down to the cabin. The cabin itself is exactly as described - lovely, well organized and equipped, with lots of little personal touches. The first night the rain came bucketing down and it was so relaxing to hear it on the tin roof. The walk up to the parking area is so beautiful also, you pass through a flower field and Gayle's farm, about a 5 minute walk. The cabin is surrounded by a woods which you can take a walk through.
Gayle herself was extremely kind and helpful. I would 100% stay here again, it was a nice break from reality! Thanks for everything Gayle.

Wow! I cannot say enough about how incredible this place is. It was the perfect peaceful getaway. Perfect for me and perfect for my dog Presley who probably had the most fun he’s ever had roaming around the camp and getting to “wild” as we call it. Gayle was an EXCEPTIONAL host - she provided us with firewood to keep warm, she helped load our gear into her side by side (in the pouring rain) to take it to the cabin, she was also an absolute delight to chat with. My sister and I had lovely conversations getting to know Gayle and her house mate, Linda. We adored the farm! As for the camp it is well equipped and is cosy, cosy, cosy! You couldn’t ask for a better place to call home for a few days than here.

My wife, Marilyn, and I returned home yesterday from our first two-day stay at Paws Crossing Woods Retreat. The faint scent of forest and wood fire smoke still lingers in my hair! Last night as I lay in bed at home, I found myself longing to look out of the Paws cabin window and see twinkling stars and the comforting silhouettes of trees standing watch around us all night.
No photograph or words can possibly describe the joy and wonder this woodland retreat evokes. For each guest this experience will be different, because it is all about the intimate relationship each person forms with the natural surroundings.
We parked the car near the farm house and were greeted by Gayle and Linda who loaded our gear into the Side-by-Side. After a brief hello to the goats and a salute to the three dogs watching from the house window, Gayle transported our stuff to the site while Linda walked down with us. The meandering meadow and forest path led us gradually from the outside world of people, work, and responsibilities into the enchantment and quiet calm of the woodland world.
The site is nestled deep in a forest of mixed trees, plants, mosses, mushrooms, and wild flowers which thrive in rich, loamy soil. They are blessed to exist in a place where they are treated with love and respect.
The cabin was built by Gayle and every bit of it reveals her love of the beauty of natural wood, and her artistic and creative energy. It is a comfortable dwelling place for humans with minimal impact on the surroundings. Small details such as the ingenious ways doors are fastened, the stout tree trunk which supports a beam, the slimmer trunks which provide convenient grab bars as dwellers climb stairs to the loft, and well-screened windows and doors make this cabin a joyful eco-friendly abode.
The sleeping spaces are flexible. A tent nearby & the cabin loft create possibilities for various combinations of sleeping bags, air mattresses, foam rolls & camp cots.
The outdoor shower created entirely from trees blends perfectly into the surrounding forest. The swaying-in-the-breeze artistic "shower curtain" is also a wind chime of metal tubing, sounding wood and lengths of rope.
There is a great peeing and pooping system, easy to use, and consistent with Gayle's concern to keep the site uncontaminated and clean. The garbage system is compliant with local separation regulations.
Two small portable battery-powered lights were helpful because the solar light battery needed replacing. Once that is working again, that light, plus the many candles is a perfect energy-efficient lighting and ambiance combination.
The forest partners with Gayle's cutting, chopping and sawing generously supplying dry firepit wood, for a beautiful campfire each night! Glad we ordered extra kindling as the second night the temperature plunged unexpectedly to 7C! I arose at 6:00 and soon had a good campfire blazing. Got my dad's camp coffee perc going, toasted a bun over the fire, heaped peanut butter into it, and thought I'd died and gone to heaven!
Ketchup With That Kitchen Mac 'n Cheese and a dozen fresh eggs ordered in advance from a nearby farm were fantastic!
We took two swims in the clean spring-fed pond, nestled among rushes and wild flowers -- a delicious thing to do on lazy summer afternoons. Floating on my back and gazing at the blue sky, I wondered how Gayle and Linda managed to leave the farm to go to work! The cabana at the edge, whimsical and comfy to sit in and read, also functions as a changing room. I looked at the zip line and wished I were 10 again!
We are 79 and 85 -- not spring chickens! Rustic camp life is not as easy as it was when we were younger, but I am glad Paws Crossing exists because it provides enough comfort to make it possible for us. My iPhone worked fine so we were not cut off should we need help. (Alert! Bring a recharging stick.)
We enjoyed exploring the trails, gorgeous in this late summer season. The fall colours here will be absolutely breathtaking.
This is a city kid's paradise, with ponies and horses, hilarious goats, hens, and dogs. Zeus, the young American Shepherd, loves to ride with Gayle in the Sidecar, and is a highly intelligent, beautifully mannered dog. (The pet dogs are always kept under control).

My seven year old son and I had the privilege of being the first guests at Paws Crossing Woods Retreat! We had a fantastic experience.
When we arrived we were pleasantly greeted with the gorgeous landscape of the farm where the cabin resides. Complete with barns, a pond, kayaks, and animals. When we exited the vehicle we were met by Gary and Betty, two of the goats on the farm they made us feel welcome coming right up to meet us. Gayle and Linda our hosts soon appeared to welcome us and help us load our bags into their side by side for the trip to the cabin. As we departed my son told me he could not wait to get in the pond. Which we would spend many hours.
As we travel thought the groomed trails to the cabin, perfect for walks and exploring and finding all sorts of bugs and rocks (a highlight for my son). They would be ideal for winter cross country skiing or snowshoeing adventure.
Upon arriving at the cabin we were amazed at the grounds of the cabin. The cabin was complete with a loft for sleeping, a wood fired indoor stove, BBQ, outdoor shower, and generous fire pit. The fire pit is an important part for my son and I. Everything was built by Paws Crossing Woods Retreat owners, Gayle and Linda. It was simply amazing. After our hosts departed and explained how everything worked my son and I set out exploring. He remarked after a short time. "Wow dad, they are very creative with nature, I love this place! How many nights are we staying?"
The next two days we enjoyed exploring the woods, swimming, kayaking, fishing, meeting the various farm animals, and spending time together.
The cabin is truly a wilderness experience. Complete with an outdoor shower, Something I suggest everyone experience. We thank our hosts, we will be returning many times.
