Year ‘round cabins in the Superior National Forest in Grand Marais, MN where you can hike or ski out the door on groomed wilderness trails. Off the grid, wood-heated rustic cabins…lantern lit for a romantic ambiance. Only 6 miles from downtown and Lake Superior harbor, restaurants and shops. Pets welcome for a fee! Guests provide sleeping bags and pillows or linens (call for bed sizes). Take the Road less Travelled! Seven cabins (all smoke free) with occupancy from 2 to 10 guests available. A group cookhouse is also available to rent for groups renting multiple cabins. Canoe and sea kayak rentals in summer, skis and snowshoes in winter! Amenities include wood-fired sauna shared by all cabins. Each cabin has its own outdoor fire-pit and picnic table. A variety of outhouses are throughout the camp. Direct access to Superior Hiking Trail and North Shore Mountains Ski Trail. Cabins are spaced for privacy! We also have canoes and sea kayaks available at our outfitting base in town for rental. A 4 night stay includes free use of an aluminum canoe for a day.

Bally Creek Cabins are a cozy step back in time, with lantern-lit, wood-heated cabins, and of course outhouse privvies! We have a wonderful wood-fired sauna for your enjoyment! Each cabin is spaced for privacy and has a picnic table and a tri-pod barbecue over a fire pit. You can ski right out the door on groomed trails, and we also have a one-kilometer trail you can ski with your dog. We offer ski and snowshoe rentals as well in winter, and canoes and sea kayaks in the summer. Pets welcome! The space MC is a small cabin perfect for the solo guest or a couple with a pet. The platform queen bed gives ample space underneath for your pet bed. MC shares an outhouse with the PJ cabin. Our wood-fired sauna is shared by all 6 cabins. MC has its own fire pit with a tripod grill over it and a picnic table. Firewood is provided for the wood stove indoors and the fire pit. The cabin has a solar light and a propane lantern as well as a butane tabletop stove. Guests should bring sleeping bags for the bed. We provide 5 gallons of water in an igloo. Other things to note For guests staying four nights or more between May 15 and September 15, we will include the use of one 17' alumacraft canoe for one day use...includes life jackets, paddles, and car-top carrier. Please let us know prior to your stay, so we can reserve it for you. You can pick it up at our Bear Track Outfitting Co., at 2011 West Highway 61 in Grand Marais, MN. Bally Creek Cabins are a cozy step back in time, with lantern-lit, wood-heated cabins, and of course outhouse privvies! We have a wonderful wood-fired sauna for your enjoyment! Each cabin is spaced for privacy and has a picnic table and a tri-pod barbecue over a fire pit. Ski right out the door on groomed trails, and we also have a one-kilometer skijoring trail. We offer ski and snowshoe rentals as well in winter, and canoes and sea kayaks in the summer. Pets welcome $30/stay. The space OLLAR is a one-room cabin with a queen bed and a single bunk bed. It has a table and two chairs, and two upholstered chairs. There is a wood stove for heat and a one-burner butane tabletop stove with a teapot. Guests must bring their own cooking and eating utensils if they plan on cooking. There is one propane lantern in the cabin and a small solar light in the cabin. There is a picnic table and a fire pit with a tripod grate for cooking outdoors. Firewood is provided. There are a variety of outhouses, and we supply toilet paper. We supply a 5-gallon igloo of drinking water in the cabin and will resupply as needed. Guest access The outhouses and sauna are shared by guests. Other things to note For guests staying four nights or more between May 15 and September 15, we will include the use of one 17' alumacraft canoe for your use, free for one day, includes life jackets, paddles, and a car-top carrier. For stays of 2 or 3 nights, you may rent this canoe at 50% off. Please let us know prior to your stay, so we can reserve it for you. You can pick it up at our Bear Track Outfitting Co., at 2011 West Highway 61 in Grand Marais, MN. We are open for canoe pickup from 9 am to 10 am by reservation.

The space Dunlookin will sleep up to 8 people, with one queen, and bunked on the main floor and two sleeping lofts with a double mattress and two twins. It has two propane lanterns, a butane tabletop stove, as well as two flat surfaces on the woodstove. There is a teapot and a wash basin. Guests should bring cook kits and eating utensils, or eat in town, only 6 miles away. We do not provide linens, and most guests bring sleeping bags and pillows, and in summer, when it gets hot, a flat sheet is handy. Guest access Guests can hike, bike, or in winter ski on 25 K of trails that we maintain. We have a spur trail to the Superior Hiking Trail that you are welcome to snowshoe on in winter with your pets! Dogs are not allowed on the groomed ski trails!!! Other things to note Dunlookin is only 6 miles from downtown Grand Marais, therefore close to dining out. There is a YMCA attached to the school with showers, a heated pool and whirlpool, a weight room, lots of equipment, and a full gym with basketball hoops. This is open all year. There are many restaurants to choose from, but most stop serving around 8 pm, so plan accordingly! There are three grocery stores in town for all your needs, and a municipal liquor store.

Pets OK! The space The Biddles' cabin is a space for friends and families. There are 5 sets of single bunk beds in the cabin. Three in the main room and 2 in a separate bedroom. There is a one-burner tabletop butane stove and table, and chairs in the cabin, and for outdoors, you can cook over a wood barbecue and a picnic table to eat on. We supply water in 5-gallon igloos. These are camping cabins where you bring your sleeping bag and pillow or sheets & blankets, and cooking and eating utensils. We supply firewood for the cabin and fresh water from our artesian well. Guest access We have a wood-burning sauna that is shared by all the cabins and a variety of outhouses for you know what. There is a solar shower in the cabin; there are also showers available at the YMCA next to the school on County Road 7. Other things to note The cabin is only 6 miles from the downtown harbor of Grand Marais and handy to shops and restaurants! Visit the trails on Artist Point on the shore of Lake Superior!

Other things to note The Superior Hiking Trail is just down the road for hiking and snowshoeing. We have skis and snowshoes to rent at our farm.

We provide water in insulated igloos. We have a wonderful wood-fired sauna for your enjoyment! Each cabin is spaced for privacy and has a picnic table and a tri-pod barbecue over a fire pit. You can ski right out the door on groomed trails, and we also have a one-kilometer trail you can ski with your dog. Guest access Guests will have this cozy cabin all to themselves, and PJ has its own parking spot in front of the cabin in summer; in winter, there is a separate spot plowed about 50 yards from the cabin! Other things to note For guests staying four nights or more between May 15 and September 15, we will include the use of one 17' alumicraft canoe for your use...includes life jackets, paddles, and car-top carrier. Pot Belly Cabin For Lovers And Good Friends

Pot Belly is one of our most popular cabins, small but spacious at the same time. A view out every window, and out of sight of other cabins. The cabins are off the grid, and you may not have cell service! There are lanterns for light and woodstoves for heat. Ski or hike out the door. In winter, the road is only plowed to the cabins, so it's like you're at the end of the earth. If you are looking for peace and quiet, this is it! The cabin is only 6 miles from town and restaurants and shops. The space Pot Belly has a queen bed on the main floor with a sleeping loft and a double mattress. Guests should bring sleeping bags to throw on the beds, or call for bed sizes. We supply drinking water in 5-gallon igloos. There is no electricity as we are off-grid. There is a woodstove for heat, and all wood is supplied. There is also a butane tabletop one-burner stove and a teapot. If you plan on cooking in the cabin, bring a cook kit and utensils with you. Pot Belly has its own picnic table and fire pit with tri-pod barbecue outside. Let us know if you need to rent skis or snowshoes in winter, or canoes and kayaks in summer. Since the pandemic, our outfitters are only open by advance reservation. Guest access We have free onsite parking. Guests have access to the trails (North Shore MtnSki Trail and the Superior Hiking Trail right out the door. We also have a wood-fired sauna and a variety of outhouses shared by other cabins. Other things to note Please note that before you book, these cabins are off-grid, meaning no cell service, no electricity, and no running water…we do provide water in 5 containers. igloos, and we will replenish as needed. Our guests seek out the kind of peace and quiet you‘ll enjoy at Bally Creek Cabins!
