Welcome to Thousand Suns – an 84-acre sanctuary nestled in the heart of nature, lovingly cultivated to support healing, reflection, and connection. This isn’t your typical campground. Here, the land is vibrantly alive and holds space for both traditional and non-traditional ceremonies, as well as moments of quiet solitude or joyful gathering. Wander scenic forest trails, swim in spring-fed waters, or sit beside the flowing river — all part of a landscape that invites you to slow down, breathe deeply, and return to yourself. Whether you’re here to rest, explore, or reconnect, Thousand Suns offers a grounded, heart-centered experience. Throughout the month, we host community events and offer private sessions in yoga, bodywork, breathwork, and other holistic practices designed to nourish the body and spirit. Fresh eggs are available from our chickens and turkeys, and you’ll likely spot our friendly goats during your stay. Guests are welcome to use the community kitchen — a shared space where you can store your food and prepare meals with ease. Thousand Suns is the perfect retreat for solo travelers, families, and spiritual seekers alike. Whether you’re gathering with loved ones or journeying inward, our land provides a supportive and sacred backdrop. Please note: a train passes by the front of the property several times a day. While some find it grounding and nostalgic, others may wish to bring earplugs if they’re sensitive to sound. Bring your fishing pole, your swim trunks, and an open heart. The site is spacious enough for a few tents and includes a fire pit for cozy evenings under the stars. Located near the start of our wooded trails, it offers quick access to hikes, ceremony spaces, and open skies for stargazing at night. Nestled on a grassy rise overlooking our peaceful spring-fed pond, this spot offers a perfect blend of open field, gentle breezes, and intimate connection with nature. Surrounded by tall pines and lush greenery, you’ll have direct access to the water for swimming, fishing, or simply soaking in the view. A fire pit is available for cozy evenings under the stars, and there’s plenty of space for stargazing, reading, or resting in solitude. Just a short walk away, guests are welcome to use our shared community kitchen for food storage and meal prep, and explore the rest of our 84-acre sanctuary. With lounge chairs and a couch inside. Deck at the treehouse. Solar-powered lighting is provided, and lanterns are available for added ambiance. Thousand Suns Tree House
Our goal was to find a place we could wake up in the woods, and this was the spot! Nice having coffee on the deck overlooking the property and ending the day w a fire. We were pretty self-sufficient, but my impression was that if we needed something we could just message to ask. I would have liked to be more social w. our hosts but just didn’t have the energy; the whole point of us being there was for a much needed respite. Also we were there during the work week and they were busy going about their business. We stayed in the treehouse and didn’t need the heat even, it is pretty well insulated which also cuts the train noise others commented on. Super cute goat! Very personable turkey! Definitely the woods go back a fair ways for exploring. We found good nearby hikes too; the big loop around the lake at Metamora-Hadley was a really good route.

We generally had a good stay. You are basically on your own to figure it out—where your tent site is, etc. it would be helpful if the sites were numbered. The experience was fine, but overpriced. The train runs a lot through the night and is loud. I knew that going in, but it was more than I imagined.

Quiet Get Away
Thousand Suns Tree House
If you're looking for a place to get away for a few days I'd highly recommend. Booked during the week in September and had the whole place to myself. Plenty of places to walk around on the property and explore. I stayed in the treehouse and would encourage you to try it for yourself. The hosts left me pretty much to myself unless I requested something and they were friendly and quick to respond if I needed something (fresh eggs, firewood, etc). The tent campsites I saw were all nice and clean and were far enough apart to have some privacy if they have multiple guests. They also have a group campground. One note, watch the chickens, they are sneaky and will sneak up and steal your food if you aren't careful. I'll definitely be back.

This was my first Hipcamp experience. Our host was great. They were very responsive and helpful and very accommodating when we got there. They filled tiki torches, delivered firewood, and we had some laughs before we started to set up camp. The site was clean and the property is beautiful. We pet the goat, and the turkey laughed at us. There are outdoor showers (heated) a short walk up the trail. There is a cool trail that loops around the property. The train, as mentioned by others, did wake me up a couple times. I'll definitely be back at this site but I'm a light sleeper and will just bring my loops/ear plugs. Sleeping in may also be tough considering the rooster. I usually sleep in on weekends but we were excited to wake up and get the fire going again. There are portable toilets which are way better than up against a tree. The location is great coming from metro area - Oxford Grill is a nice stop on the way in or out and Bald Mountain recreation area/shooting range. Surprisingly low amount of mosquitoes/bugs while we were there.

Loved our stay, it was a total vibe- very raw land which we appreciate. The goat, chickens, and turkeys follow you everywhere (including the shower) which is hilarious, as they become your own personal groupies- they are little thieves though, so keep your food guarded, they stole a peach from our toddler and some watermelon. Don’t worry it was local and organic. The zip line into the swimming area was really fun and we loved hearing the train pass by several times a day. Our only issue was the amount of poison ivy at two of the RV sites, with a toddler and a dog who love to explore it was impossible to stay out of it. Luckily we were able to utilize a different area for socializing but if the spots are all booked this wouldn’t have been an option. All that said we would still recommend this campsite and would love to return in the future. It was peaceful, wild, calming and exactly what we needed. Om Shanti

Thousand Suns Tree House
The Treehouse and surrounding property are beautiful and serene. So much to see and experience, it felt like being in a different world. The host is very accommodating and provided everything we needed to make our stay great. I would recommend it to anyone looking for a getaway and place to recharge.

This place is awesome. Cool, genuine people, lots of space, a lake to swim in, and a small animal street gang that is led by a cantankerous wild turkey (the turkey is just playing his role in the gang, so no judgement… Deep down, he’s actually kind of a softy).

Had a fantastic couple of nights at Thousand Suns with some friends and our kids. Was our daughter’s first camping experience and it was the best location for us! Between the amenities provided and activities on site we had a blast. Jordan (who greeted us and replenished our firewood) was super friendly and accommodating. Definitely recommend booking a camping trip here and look forward to returning.

Patrick was great, place is great. As we were pulling in Patrick was up in the treehouse installing an air conditioning unit because it has been so hot. So glad he did, it was over 90 degrees throughout most of our stay. Appreciated it so much.

Morning Star Camper
Great spot, the trailer was clean and the hosts were friendly. The swimming hole with the zip line was a lot of fun as well. Would recommend.

The campsite was beautiful and very easy to access. The pond is also great, and we had the best time going swimming. You can definitely hear the trains from the woods sites, so keep that in mind if you’re looking to rent. Would definitely return.

We loved our stay. We were searching for seclusion and found it. The location was also close to everything including Walmart so when we needed something it was only a 6 minute drive away. Looking forward to staying there again.

My group and I really enjoyed this campsite! We loved that is was very hippie vibes and it’s super cool that they hold ceremonies here. There’s lots of land to explore and we had the place mostly to ourselves. And there’s a cute little lake! The only reason we wouldn’t come back is because there is a train right next to the campsite that went through multiple times during the night. Which of course was very loud. Everything else was awesome though!

Can’t get enough of this place, learned more about the history of the land, met some awesome, interesting people and I finished (started more lol ) writings. I would recommend this for band members/managers and vendors instead of spending money on hotel rooms, for festivals or events.

Camped with the fam and had a great time. Secluded and we were not bothered by anyone. Kids and dog were able to explore the surrounding woods. Beautiful area for sure. Does have a train that goes by, but we were used to the noise of that after the first day. 10 out of 10 would recommend for family or individuals looking for a calm, quiet, breath of fresh air. Morning Star Camper
MorningStar was a great place to write and reflect… you get to experience the seclusion and mellow summer nights while also being close to the luxuries of city life when you run out of supplies. People have mentioned the train in the comments, but its been part of the experience, that rail has been going uninterrupted for 150 years and is part of the rural Michigan landscape, it’s own kind of nature that you get to hear/see/feel. After the first couple trains, it blends in with the wildlife with glimpses of colors and letters through the trees, like a deer walking an edge line. I would definitely recommend this place for any artists whether you work alone or with other people. Plenty of other camping options available just a short walk through the woods from MorningStar.

Enchanted experience
Morning Star Camper
A thousand percent hands down would return to Thousand Suns ,the host was accommodating ,the land was beautiful a thing to be admitted by the bonfire in the morning as deers run through the field as you sip your coffee, hearing hawks distinct voice overhead as you travel through the trails of the property or the laid back serenity depicted by the aura of the Morning Star Camper , a blast to wake up and see turkeys and chickens running around as you open your eyes after a rest there ,by far one of the most enjoyable camping trips,highly recommend a place to travel to,top of my list for a nice getaway for the weekend from the hustle and bustle of the city.

Campground - Woods Camping Sites A
The worker was very helpful and the camp site was nice with multiple fire pits, outhouse, and a picnic table. The nearby train can get a bit loud but it didn't bother us too much.

Thousand Suns Tree House
It was the perfect place to get out of the city for the evening. Plus the resident dog is really cute.
