A short 3 miles down a lazy gravel road (motorcycle friendly) south of the TransCanada Highway brings you to a place where you can come rest your mind and body and get away from all the noise Beautiful treed, very quiet and private, mowed grass area under the canopy of trees perfect for your tent, flowers to attract the hummingbirds and orioles. Cozy fire pit area. Firewood included. Potable water included. No neighbouring residents except for the foxes, coyotes, the occasional moose and deer. A walking trail around the property takes you by the ponds with ducks and geese. Sheltered space to set up in case of stormy weather. Get in touch with nature with the old-fashioned plumbing... aka... outhouse on site. In the evening, be prepared to be serenaded by coyotes - sing along if you wish! A 20min drive takes you to the famous swinging bridge in picturesque Souris Manitoba. Nearby is a Ducks Unlimited marsh great for photo taking. The Eternal Springs is a short drive where you can walk across the mini swinging bridge. Cranky Trapper is also biker friendly. The gravel road is maintained well. Grateful opening post-season
First, John was closed for the winter but as it was still semi-nice weather out despite the 1" of rains they got recently, he let me come park for the night near an outbuilding that had electricity which I needed to be able to remote work in the AM. I was very grateful for all of this as he was in very close proximity to Trans-Canada Route 1 so I didn't have to go too far out of the way to have a safe, quiet and peaceful place to sleep for the night. Second, John is so nice to talk to and as an American, it was interesting to learn what was happening with Canada up in these parts as I only get Toronto radio. Lastly, my dog was glad to get out and run around a bit and smell all kinds of thing in John's yard before we got back in the car for a long push home back to Lewiston, NY

First Time Hipcampers - a Hit
This was the first time we had ever used Hipcamp to find a camping location. John and Lorreta”s property was quiet, peaceful and so serene. I thought it might feel odd to go camping on someone’s private property but the hosts were so friendly and welcoming. It felt like a place we should have found years ago. All life’s stresses just washed away and life became so simple. Our dog Holly was in heaven - sniffing squirrels, jumping at grasshoppers and even started to run off to greet the moose that gave us a quick visit. We highly recommend Cranky Trapper Hideaway. We will be back.

The tent site was beautiful and private. We appreciated the outdoor wash stand. The dogs enjoyed the space to run and play!

gorgeous setting! i wish i could have stayed longer. unfortunately, we crashed late at night and had to get back on the road at dawn. they had a fire going for us, the lights, the trees, the whole area was just so lovely. would definitely come back.
