We camped and we were comfortable! Thank you for the farm fresh eggs, Leanne! They were delicious.
Note: it says it in the listing, but be sure to either bring an extra long hose attachment for your water, or be prepared to dry camp. We toted water back and forth in a gallon jug and it worked fine for us. 💧 There is electricity and we were able to get fairly good cell reception with T-Mobile and Verizon.

A HipCamp Cat Rescue Love Story
First, you can’t beat the low price of this campsite! That by itself makes this a well worth it stop! Like many others have said, there is very minimal road noise and the train going by, while loud, does not last long. I felt I had a decent amount of privacy and felt very safe here.
On a completely different note, I wanted to share the cool experience I had while staying here of the stray cat I rescued. He approached my campsite one night and was very friendly. After checking that it wasn’t the landowner’s or neighbor’s I knew he was a road warrior kitty who had been in his fair share of fights. He was so sweet and trusting that I knew I couldn’t leave not knowing what would happen to him after I left to continue my road trip. So we hopped in my car the next morning and went to a local rescue. They assured me he would be rehabbed, neutered, and sent to their adoption program. Not very HipCamp review related but who doesn’t love a wholesome story and happy ending? Definitely a cool experience I will remember on my road trip.

Angel in Heaven County
The property has easy access along a paved country road but feels very private. The sounds of the chickens are calming.
More importantly, Leanne herself is an angel in disguise. Her awareness of the needs of her guests and subsequent caring actions are rare indeed. The world needs more Leannes.

Great stop-over near Des Moines. Nice flat campsite with a fire ring. Only thing to know is that it is near a road, so there is some traffic noise through the night. Overall a lovely stay though! Definitely recommend for road trippers.

Leanne was very accommodating and respectful. We did bring our own portable outhouse which worked out fine. Expect a little close by train and road noise at night, but it’s not too bad. It’s a lovely spot and the stars were wonderful!

It's not super secluded, since the road is close by and the house is near, but that is made clear from the post. Potable water, electricity, super cute spot that I felt VERY safe in.

Leanne was very responsive to questions and a great host. The campsite is close to the road and cars will pass by occasionally. The trian was really loud, but it was all worth it. The spot was cute and easy to manage. It was a great comfort to have a responsive host especially in the current climate. Leanne offered to let me plug in my electronics in an outside plug while I was there, which was awesome. My favorite part was all the chicken statues and the parking signs. I had an amazing time staying here.

Hospitality with charm. Thank you!
The area we set up our tents is in full view of the roadway, so be aware of that. It was not an issue For us but may be for some. The host greeted us eventually and was very friendly and accommodating. She made certain we had everything we needed and then excused herself. We are very pleased with this site. And the roosters were a great alarm clock and definitely added so charm. Thanks again!
