As expected, Paul was very accommodating, and had great communication prior to our stay. This was our second time at the cabin, and we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. Everything was clean and tidy when we arrived, with wood stocked!

Beautiful destination on the river
Amazingly Beautiful river front property! Very accomodating. Easy to find. Good roads. Beautiful bath house. Great destination or stop over. There is a cleared/cut grass area down by the river that is approx. 200ft x50ft. with chairs for relaxing and picnic table. Bath house is unbelievable!! Beautifully decorated... warm.... could not want for more! I was just there for a stopover on my way to Canada but this property is so beautiful and peaceful that I could have spent days there! Great communication from Paul and great tip for a cheap gas stop.

River camping!
This place was amazing and just what the doctor ordered for a get away. Cabin and area is so cool! Everything you could practically need is there, with some extra amenities as well. Very rustic and plenty of adventure to be had. Nice shower too, which is usually needed during a camp out. And to be right on the River was so peaceful and relaxing. The falls were amazing too. We will definitely be coming back again and again! Paul was a great and accommodating host, and provided us with all the details needed for a stay, and very communicative. Recommend this camping and area to all. Thanks Paul!

Best of Hipcamp contender, in my opinion. The Iron Horse campsite is exceptionally well thought out & the property has all the amenities you could need/want! My tiny camper trailer (12ft) fit perfectly on the tent pad. I didn’t get to meet Paul during my stay, but he was extremely proactive in his communication, quick to respond & attentive to all messages & requests. Wouldn’t hesitate to visit again!

We absolutely loved our time here. We only stayed for one night due to our cross country drive but would have stayed for an entire week - and we’re planning to come back for a longer trip! Our dogs loved it too and had the best time playing in the river. The entire site feels private and the cabin is cozy and has everything you might need. Paul was extremely helpful with answering any questions I had and made us feel comfortable. 10/10 all around lovely experience.

Great stay at the Iron Horse Cabin!
The cabin is very cozy and set up to provide for a small family or a single person. The property is secure and there is a good distance between the cabin and the camp site. Our host provided very clear details regarding both accessing the property and who else was expected to be there while we were visiting so that there were no questions. He also provided details regarding local events and activities/sites in the area. From the window of the cabin you can sit and watch the river flow and the wild life run and it is beautiful. My sister, our small dog and I had an amazing visit and it was far to short. Paul is an amazing host, he keeps a clean space inside and out and ultimately provides everything you need except food and bedding. We cooked out on the fire pit which has a very handy cooking grate and all the firewood you could need. We took some of Paul's recommendations and took in some local sites as well as the Bonners Ferry farmers market where we found several treasures. If you have the ability to book the cabin just do it, don't think about it. Honestly I should have lied and said that this was the worst experience I have ever had to keep this little gem as hidden as possible but hey, what can I say, I'm just not that kind of person. I will be booking again very soon, only this time I will be staying longer. Thank you Paul for the amazing stay on your little piece of paradise.

We had an amazing time camping on Paul’s land. It is absolutely a stunning spot on the Moyie river. We felt like we had our own private riverside getaway. We had 5 kids with us ages 9-16 and they enjoyed the game that was in the picnic shelter, spending time in the hammocks we brought or floating in the river- it was too shallow to swim but just enough for a short lazy float. It’s a 12 minute drive to Copper Creek Falls which is an easy hike to a gorgeous waterfall. If you have a passport we did a day trip up to Kootenay National Park and swam in Radium Hot Springs. We did another quick trip to Yahk (about 20 minutes away) for ice cream at 2 Scoop Steves. It was perfect on a hot day. The shower house was fabulous for everyone. Paul has obviously put a lot of care and thought into making this a great experience. The picnic shelter with hanging porch swing, bear box for food, picnic table, grill, and nearby fire ring perfect for smores. To keep it not too over the top it’s balanced out well with the traditional wooden outhouse. This gave all the kids the opportunity to share stories with their friends and grandchildren. The train does come by seemingly at random times but we only heard it once in the middle of the night, and even then only those that were awake heard it. Highlights were definitely the location, all the thoughtful camping touches, and sleeping to the sound of the river and watching gorgeous sunrises and moonrises in such a beautiful place. Thank you Paul!

Every time is better than the last!
Paul's cabin is our favorite hip camp destination. We've stayed at least 6 times, in every season, and every time it is better than the last. The location is very private and beautiful. We saw several deer during our stay and even a moose and a bear while driving up past Copper Falls on our last trip here. We will definitely continue to come enjoy this little piece of paradise. Thank you Paul for providing a wonderful place to relax and enjoy the outdoors. The cabin never disappoints!

We loved this place we went twice in one month!! My family of four (including two small children) slept comfortably in the cabin. Do keep in mind that the futon is better suited for children as it’s not very long. The cabin also stays very comfortable no matter how hot the day got! This time around we took the drive up the mountain to Spruce Lake. It was so worth the 30 min. drive!! We had the entire lake to ourselves and the views were truly breathtaking. Paul, the host, was just as amazing as always. He’s very responsive and knowledgeable. Iron Horse has so many nice touches that I couldn’t possibly review them all here. Overall, I HIGHLY recommend.

A convenient getaway.
The host Paul has taken all things into consideration here. There is TP, firewood, potable water, cleaning supply, a shower house, fire pokers, the list goes on! All on a beautiful property. We rented the cabin and the campsite for privacy for our family of five. The camp site has amazing river access and thimbleberries a flat spot for camping. The cabin has games, fans, great views. Frisbee golf hole, and corn hole! All sites had best boxes, fire space and grills. The outhouse is a fairly nice outhouse as outhouses come. The central shower is almost spa like with a pebble floor and rain shower head. The river is shallow but swift and the slick rocky bottom is a bit hard to navigate on foot. Bring some good water shoes! Oh don’t forget the bug spray! I would have left some for you if I hadn’t used it all! Over all 9/10! Campsites are nicely spread out but that was hard to tell from the listing. All your needs are met if you forgot something. Beautiful views!

What a vacation should be like.
We spent three nights in the cabin. The cabin is so private, with fabulous views of the river - a great place to hang out after a day of activity. We certainly had everything we needed! We hiked every day and picked huckleberries and wild strawberries. Paul gave us some great tips for places to go. He was super responsive. It is clear he cares a lot for his land and forest as well as for his guests.

Magical view!
The view and sounds of the river was simply magical! We stayed in the cabin and could not have asked for a better location! With the windows open we could fall asleep and wake up to the sounds of the water. We even got to watch deer walk through the river while we ate our dinner one night. The cabin had all the necessities, all we had to bring was sleeping gear and food!

River, mountains - oh my!
First off Paul was quick to reply, which is always appreciated! He has a campsite nearby and we lucked out because we had the whole place to ourselves. His property was beautiful - the river was pleasant to dip your toes in, especially on a hot day. The cabin felt like we were 'roughing it' but in comfort (bed, couch - which looked like it pulled out to another bed, fridge, two ways of making coffees, etc). Nice to have a fancy outhouse that was a short walk from the cabin, definitely appreciated the shower with a sink . The mosquitos were definitely the downside - bug spray, long sleeves, pants is highly advised! Other than that it was nice to just be out in nature with the river and the mountains.

Dreamy northern Idaho cabin!
This cabin ( there is also a great looking tent site) has everything! The most amazing outdoor stream side fire pit to cook over and a nifty portable on demand sink! Water from the well is a short distance away and the cabin itself has two very comfortable twin bunks, fans for warm weather and great views. We had all our camping equipment with us but the cabin was so well stocked we only pulled out food! The loo is convenient and clean. The best part was being on a river where we cast to trout. Nice area to hike and went to a beautiful sun alpine lake for a dip! Oh! And there is a new, really nice shower building in between camp and cabin sites. We loved it!

Best camping ever!
Probably the best camping experience of my life. Paul’s instructions are so clear and helpful, I knew exactly how to prepare. The campsite is convenient yet feels wonderfully private. It was easy to park next to the campsite to unload. The outhouse was private just for the campsite and we also had use of the kitchen area all to ourselves. Paul and his son and granddaughter were very friendly but also respectful of giving us space. The river is COLD but refreshing and beautiful. Easy river access from the campsite. The mosquitoes were aggressive but they did respect the bug spray (bring some!). I can’t say enough good things about our experience here and how nice Paul was. We can’t wait to come back!

Look no farther, hidden gem here!!!
What can I say about Paul and his property? Even months before my stay, Paul was very prompt and thorough in all of his communications. That is always a good sign. The directions and description of the property are perfect. Every single thing at camp was as advertised and beyond. Paul has put in many years of hard work to have a tastefully developed camp site. He was out of town the day I arrived, so I had a chance to explore the property are really get a feel for the place. Every thing there from the outhouse, shower house, and shelter have all been carefully built in a way that they look like they grew out of the ground. Paul has a real love for the Earth and it’s evident when you see the property. In 40+ years of camping, this is the first time camp ever felt like home. It was incredibly hard to leave. The icing on the cake about this Hipcamp site is the host himself. Paul is a very kind man who will not hesitate to help you with anything you need. He is proud of his property and it shows. His knowledge of the area is invaluable when looking for outdoor recreation. He takes a real interest in everyone who visits and makes sure you feel at home. This site is would be ideal for casual campers and seasoned camping pros, as well. After hiking in the mountains all day, nothing beats that wonderful hot shower. I’m absolutely already planning on a return visit as soon as possible!
