Our RV and Tent Campsites are located in a grassy field next to dense woods. Electric and water hookups are included in the RV/Camper sites, but not the Tent Site. All sites have a picnic table and fire ring. Our newly renovated restrooms on the property have toilets and one shower. A boardwalk takes you along the Cotee River to our two open air pavilions with several places to sit and enjoy nature. Cell phone service is not a problem, as we are not remote (although it sort of feels like we are when you are here) - we are 5 min from downtown New Port Richey, 2 minutes from groceries, gas, restaurants. This beautiful slice of Old Florida is named for the Pithlachascotee River that bends along the back side of the property. Pithlo is the Creek word meaning canoe, and chaskita means to dig or chop out, together signifying "place where canoes are chopped or dug out". Seminoles of this area used canoes dug out from the great cypress trees found along Florida rivers. From the 1980s until 2014, this property was owned by the Cotee River Lions Club. They held a popular monthly pancake breakfast fundraiser in the large pavilion along the river. We purchased this 4.9 acres of land in late 2019. It is now where we live and have a woodworking shop. It has been a magical place for us, with no shortage of wildlife, rich jungle forest, a winding narrow river, and even the occasion river otter sighting. We are grateful to all the humans who have occupied this place over the centuries before us for keeping it as nature intended it. It is our intention to do our part to conserve and protect its natural beauty as long as possible. We hope you find it to be as restful and rejuvenating as we do.

This tent site is tucked into a lush corner of the property surrounded on 3 sides by woods. It’s a short walk to bathroom (flush toilets, sink, and shower) facilities. Great location that is 5 min drive to both downtown New Port Richey and Starkey Wilderness Park, the property borders the Cotee River. No pets and no Wi-Fi. Tent camping only in this site. Includes picnic table and fire ring. Firewood may be purchased.

This is a grassy site alongside the woods. There’s plenty of room for kids to play in grassy yard, and a trail through the woods to explore. It’s short walk to the restrooms (toilets and shower). A boardwalk takes you alongside the river. It is between Site 1 and the Corner Tent Site, but with plenty of space between sites. Mostly shade but can be partially sunny. This 5 acre property borders the Pithlachascotee ‘Cotee’ River. Lush riverine forest covers half of the property, and a large grassy parking area provides a level campsite. We are centrally located in the newly cool New Port Richey area, yet surrounded by natural Florida. We are located alongside a 2-lane road that does have some traffic noise. So while it is not remote, it is still peaceful. No pets, no Wi-Fi.

Highly Highly recommend this place! The host are friendly and welcoming! The bathrooms are very nice and clean with a hot shower available in one. The land is absolutely beautiful and natural Florida! An absolute hidden treasure in New Port Richey!

Excellent hosts and everything was clean and neat. As others have mentioned there was traffic noise since, but for urban camping it was really great to also be close to nature on the other side - heard owls and enjoyed campfires both nights.

This spot is convenient to town but also has a remote feel. Very nice bathroom and shower facilities. Laura and J.R. were very friendly, communicative and accommodating. Very pretty setting! I highly recommend and will be back if possible!

We enjoyed our stay on Laura's land. The gate was open when we got there and the directions were perfect. The rv spot was easy to park, and water and electric were available to hook up. The location is ideal, plenty of nature to find near by, paddle trails and beaches within 30 minutes. We hope to camp there again!

We were looking for a short stay near Tarpon Springs and Clearwater and we had a great stay at Laura and JRs! They have a beautiful spot on the river with clean bathrooms and shower. We loved enjoying the path to the little river too!

We had the most wonderful stay at this private property campsite! We felt completely at home. The campsite itself is peaceful, beautifully maintained, and offers plenty of space and privacy. The bathrooms and showers were very clean seriously some of the cleanest we’ve ever encountered while camping! It’s such a relief to have access to fresh, well-kept facilities after a long day out exploring. The location is also a major highlight. It’s tucked away just enough to feel like a relaxing escape, but still super convenient—close to shops, restaurants, and anything you might need. And best of all, it’s not far from the beaches! We were able to enjoy quiet mornings at camp and then head out for afternoon swims and sunsets by the coast. We honestly couldn’t have asked for a better spot to stay. Whether you’re a seasoned camper or just looking for a peaceful getaway, this place is a total winner. We’ll definitely be back!

This is my 3rd time at this hidden gem of a camp site. The hosts, Laura and JR are incredibly nice and accommodating. Laura communicates quickly and unless you have questions while you're staying, you are left alone in a beautifully peaceful environment. Its Very close to all the big stores and conveniences one might need (2-3 miles) but once you drive on to the property you could be 50 miles from civilization. The property is very well kept! The toilet and shower facility is the best I've found at any campsite, in fact it's better than my home I have to admit. Highly recommend!

We had a wonderful time at Laura's. It was our test run with our new class C rv. The boardwalk behind the propety along the river is beautiful. The bathrooms and shower are a great amenity. I highly reccomend this property.

Absolutely LOVED staying at the tent site here. We were the only ones there, so had absolute privacy, which is really important to me, and one of the major reasons that I did not stay at a public campground. Plenty of room. Very nice bathrooms, and the firewood that they have for sale there is virtually match-light. Beautiful pavilion over by the river... what can I say? I loved it. Yes, there is noise from the road... it bothered my friend more than it did me. But for me, paying that small price for such privacy, was a small price to pay indeed.

What a great place to stop for a few nights in our RV. The land was well kept, and had a great woodland area to explore. Was close to New Port Richey (Uber $10). Laura had typed up a list of places to eat which was handy. Would definitely recommend.

We loved camping at Cotee River Bend! The tent site was tucked away and private. All amenities were wonderful - fire pit, picnic table, clean bathrooms, and shower. The walk along the river was so peaceful and the chairs in the gazebo were perfect for morning coffee. Spotted birds (an owl!), some fish, and a rabbit. Just what we needed!

I loved that there are only 3 sites on the property, 2 for tents/RVs and 1 tent only, so it's quiet. The tent site is somewhat secluded from the RV sites. I was in a tent and couldn't see the one other occupant who was in an RV. There is a boardwalk that goes out over the dark black water of the Cotee River, and the river is very small at this point. There are pavilions on the boardwalk where one can watch the birds or picnic. The bathrooms and showers were immaculately clean. Laura and JT are so nice and helpful. There is some road noise, but not bothersome. The location was perfect for me. I could drive 30-60 minutes and be in St. Augustine, Tampa, Honeymoon Island or Ft. DeSoto.

This camping spot just outside of New Port Richey was perfect for us! We enjoyed kayaking on the Cotee River and exploring the towns of nearby Tarpon Springs as well as New Port Richey. Laura and JR's place is very nice and neatly set up with extremely clean bathrooms (his and hers) and a wonderful shower. All in all, a wonderful hipcamp experience!

My daughter and I felt welcomed and safe. Everything was clean and comfortable. We received helpful local tips, and were generously given access to the pavilion to prep/eat our dinner out of the rain. If we’re back in the area we would definitely stay here again!

The place was very well kept. I loved the rustic bayou atmosphere. Bathrooms and shower were clean. The ONLY done side, it is on a high traffic road. Thank you J.R. and Laura(great hosts)

We liked it very much and would definitely return! Camping here was very comfortable. Some road noise during the day but quiet enough at night. Nice walk down to the river with good birdwatching. We visited in February and saw woodpeckers, blue gray gnatcatchers, palm warblers, doves and cardinals. A very interesting little Hipcamp with lots to do in the area. We hiked in the bordering Starkey Preserve. There is also bike riding and kayaking! A great area to spend several days!
