Unfortunately we were unable to follow through with our stay at Ute Lodge due to some personal matters, but wanted to write a review on the stellar communication from Mona & Carl when booking and planning our trip! We are sad we couldn’t experience Ute Lodge but definitely plan a trip there soon!!

Old Baldy Back-Country Yurt
My wife and I loved every second of this trip. Mona was out of town but her husband Carl was a blessing, and showed us the best hikes and all the hospitality. 10/10 would recommend. Caveat though! Listen to the posting when it says you need 4 wheel drive for the ride up to the Yurt. Without a Wrangler, things would've been a lot harder than they should be.

This yurt is amazing. Beautiful views, quiet and isolated. Will definitely be back. The road to the yurt definitely requires a 4WD/higher clearance vehicle.

Old Baldy Back-Country Yurt
Took my Subaru outback up and it did pretty well. Would not recommend if it has recently rained as there were some deep dips and road consists of clay. Gets pretty steep at some points and if you don't want to scratch your car on branches getting around dips, I wouldn't bother.
Hosts were incredibly nice and upfront about everything, so travel in your own vehicle at you own risk!
Super beautiful views with a ton of wildflowers everywhere! Very quiet and peaceful. We had good luck in that the moon was pretty much absent and there were no clouds, so the sky was incredible at night. This is a very dark area on the dark sky map, so I was able to take some awesome photos of the Milky Way. Enjoyed star gazing at night.

Simple, easy, open, and beautiful.
The wildflowers, the access to the trails, horses, water, wildlife etc. was unbeatable. Having dogs running freely around was wonderful, the camp hosts/owners were absolutely incredible -peaceful, thoughtful, kind, simple.
We really were able to relax and settle in quickly, and I recommend anyone who enjoys quite campgrounds, surrounded by kind and thoughtful people, and is willing to explore a beautiful remote part of Colorado will be very happy here.

We loved staying here! It was very family friendly and I was happy we didn’t have to keep our dog’s leashed. Mona and Carl are super awesome. The campsite and the surroundings are very well kept. It was a quiet peaceful place and we really enjoyed our time there.

Absolutely beautiful views. Stayed in Yurt. Mona and her crew were great. Drive up to yurt requires 4x4, higher clearance. Fun drive if you take it slow. Will be back.

We loved the ease of having hiking trails and a lake within walking distance of our camper. We didn’t have many neighbors, which was great. Full hookups and electricity was a big plus. Rifle Falls State Park is about 1.5 hour away, but worth the drive because it was stunning. Zero cell service with Verizon, but that was totally ok with us 🤗

Small, intimate and friendly
The camping area was a bit small. There were four campsites close to each other. Would like a bit more space since we were not with a group. This place would be great for a group based on proximity.

Tent Camping in Dino Acres
This is a super beautiful camping area with farm animals, an idyllic lake, and great hiking spots. Just as a heads up, this is not a private camping spot. There are cabins, an RV area, and 4 camping spots which are in a small clearing. Fires are also allowed only in a communal fire pit. These are not complaints just something to be aware of if you’re looking for a secluded camping spot or you don’t want to interact with other campers. Everyone was so friendly and my kids loved playing with other children on the playground and basketball hoops, which was awesome because they were never bored. Definitely recommend and would camp there again someday when I get an RV.

Meet us in Meeker
Beautiful little piece of paradise, it was hard to leave but we already know it’s “see you later” type of place. The bathrooms were perfect and quaint, several trail heads right at your front door and the fishing pond is the most perfect place at dusk. Friendliest of hostesses, they were nothing but humble and helpful.

We had an amazing stay at Ute lodge. The staff was very friendly and had tons of recommendations for us on things to do in the area. Our kids loved the playground and all of the animals! We would highly recommend a stay here!

Tent Camping in Dino Acres
My wife and I enjoyed our stay. It was remote enough, but still close enough to Meeker for emergency supplies. The campgrounds were nice and mostly well kept. The tent area could have used a mowing. Otherwise it was a great experience. We would definitely stay again and plan to next year.

Ute Lodge was lovely and welcoming! It was a perfect place with delightful smells of pine, fun places for the kids to play, and lots of opportunity for adventure and recreation. Mona and Carl were welcoming and made you feel like part of their family. Enjoy your time! We did!

Awesome Camping Spot
Not sure if we or our dogs had a better time tent camping at Ute Lodge. Mona and Carl could not have been more accommodating! The area is beautiful and my grandson was so excited to see his first bald eagle there. We enjoyed a pot luck dinner and met many wonderful people. It was the best camping experience I have ever had! Thank you so much!

Beauty in the Flattops
Ute Lodge is in a beautiful, quiet setting at the end of a county road surrounded by lush trees and wildflowers. The hosts, Karl and Mona, are inviting and relaxed. The property is well kept. We enjoyed playing pickleball in the cool mountain air. Best of all, there are national forest hikes all around, no need to drive. We came in a 30 ft trailer July 10-15th, the weather was great. Thank you to our camp hosts for the delicious cookout. 5 stars!!!!!

My wife and I stayed at this fantastic place for a week over the 4th of July. It's hard for me to summarize in a review what a fabulous time we had. The yurt is on the top of a mountain overlooking the valley with hiking right from where you sleep. We experienced the most unforgettable stars being on top of the hill with no light pollution. The Milkyway would move over our heads every night. On the last night, we had terrific stars over our heads and a lighting show below in the valley, amazing! The yurt has everything you need and nothing that you don't. The owners and staff could not have been more excellent hosts. Everyone was friendly, welcoming, and eager to help us with anything we needed. Staying at the yurt was a very relaxing trip for us, and I highly recommend it. We will be back!

Fun for all - Camping with the fam!
We had a great time! It’s a perfect place to come with a family and a dog. The kids had tons of games and other kids to play with and so did the dog. The tent spot is far enough away from the RVs - so it’s quiet at night. The bathroom were nice and clean and it was wonderful having hot water. We caught 3 fish and I was able to go paddle boarding in the lake on-site. It was hot - you definitely need some sort of shade canopy to help keep you comfortable. We had an excellent time!

Can’t wait to go back!
We cannot say enough GREAT things about Ute Lodge! The camp itself was beautifully set in the mountains with TONS to do for adults & kids alike. The full hookups is a huugggeeee plus for us, but love that there are cabins available as well as amenities that make tent-camping convenient! Carl took my kiddos for a horse ride, and even showed us a small bear up on the ridge. The family went fishing and played in the Papoose Creek. The dogs got to run around camp & play all day. Mona & Carl have created such an amazing atmosphere…everyone greets everyone else, and you feel like you’re camping among your greatest friends & family! We can’t wait to go back!

Incredible views and hiking
I felt like I had come home. Such a warm and welcoming atmosphere. We were supposed to camp but arrived in the rain. They quickly accommodated the change to a cabin and saved us from despair. The property is gorgeous and the hiking was stunning. One of my favorite spots.

Our four day stay at Home on Wheels was wonderful in so many ways. We had a site next to the river, and in the middle of a heat wave, we did a lot of wading to stay cool. The camp itself was idyllic with a nearby lake for fishing. The facilities were meticulously maintained, and the hosts were delightful. We want to come back and stay longer.
