Welcome to Yosemite's Colfax Spring! Home to a basecamp for river rafting trips during the summertime, we are located 15 minutes driving distance to the entrance to Yosemite National Park. If you are staying with us between May - September and want to come rafting, ask us about our river trips! Our camp sits on a ridge with views down into the Tuolumne River Canyon. The Tuolumne River begins at 13,000 feet of elevation in the High Country of Tuolumne Meadows and provides drinking water for over 2.7 million people in San Francisco. With cedar and pine trees, manzanita bushes, and wildflowers in the spring, enjoy the Sierras' flora and fauna. Our family has been operating our river rafting company for nearly 50 years, the last 11 of those years being here at Colfax Spring. Conveniently located off Highway 120, we are in close proximity to countless swimming holes, hikes, and more. Enjoy the privacy of our campsite and getting world-class views to yourself, with all of the amenities (flushing toilets, wi-fi, showers.)

Upper Tuolumne Camp
Campground was easy to find, as it's right off Highway 120 just past Lucky Buck Cafe, and the gate with the yellow truck doors tied to it was helpful! The campground was clean and looked brand new, and we were the only ones the night we staid there. Bathroom and showers were big and clean, and towels were provided. We took one of the upper campsites and it was an amazing view over the valley and you can even see a waterfall out in the distance! People in the comments complained about the power lines, but they were a very minor inconvenience, especially since this ended up being an awesome stargazing spot! We also rented one of their propene fire rings, and it was worth the extra 15$! I love also how they provided a cooler with fresh water to fill up your water bottle and recycling was available to. All and all, great spot to hang if you're heading to Yosemite, as it was only a 45 min drive to the national park. 11/10 and 5 star rating guaranteed!

Merced Camp: Tents/Small Vans
We car camped in our Model Y. It was an amazing experience, she had nearly all facilities we needed (bathroom, shower, gas, etc.). She was also flexible and responsive to all our needs. P.S: For other Tesla's, there's a charger in Groveland (just 10 mins away) or in Rush Creek Lodge (entrance of Yosemite)

Clavey Camper Site
The campsite is lovely, quiet and serene. It was pretty easy to find as well, right off the highway. Loved walking around the property and taking in the beautiful views. No light pollution (aside from the occasional car headlight driving through), so you can really see the stars at night. The bathrooms and showers were clean and a luxurious amenity. Highly recommend renting the propane ring for your trip to have a cozy campfire by your site. Liza was an excellent host and made sure we were well taken care of. Thank you Liza! Can't wait to come back!

Great communication!
Unfortunately we didn’t have the pleasure in camping out here for the night due to weather where we had stayed at (Utah). I would say that Liza (host) informed us a day before our stay about a road closure in the area before arrival date, plus she kept in touch with us throughout the day, which to us travelers it’s important!!

Tioga Camp: Vans Only
Worst experience of our trip
Unfortunately the disappointment started immediately upon arrival. We followed the hosts directions to get to our site, only to find half of our site being occupied by a bulldozer and excavator and the other half mostly taken up by the group camping next to us. The group came over to our car to ask if we were camping here and informed us that they were told by the host that the whole upper area (where the site we booked is located) was closed for construction and they could have the run of the whole area. After hearing this I immediately messaged the host for clarification and went down the the main building to look for someone. After multiple unanswered calls I finally get a message back approximately 30 mins later simply saying that there is a different site open and I could take that one instead. This other site however was not nearly as conducive to camping in my roof top tent as I had discussed with the host when booking my stay that our original site would be. Also the new site still had a full trashcan and a tent set up in the site. The host informed us that the tent was rented form them and if we wish we could put in the effort to unstrap and move their tent out of our site for them. How gracious. After a bit of messaging the hosts husband finally showed up at the property and moved the tent (approximately 30ft so it now sat at the edge of our site instead of the middle) and took out the trash. Now after dark we could finally set up camp. Definitely do not recommend.

Best camping experience!
I would recommend staying here over any other campground in the Yosemite area. The view was amazing, the privacy was good, and the bathrooms/showers were clean and very nice. We had a great stay and love waking up to such a pretty view.

Exceptional View/Close to Park
My wife and I and our two pups really enjoyed our stay at Main Tuolumne camp. We woke up everyday to a fantastic view of the canyon and waterfalls (you can actually hear them from the campsite). Only 20 minute drive from park entrance and 50 minutes from the Yosemite Valley. As advertised, the bathrooms/showers were nice with plenty of hot water. Marty and Liza were both awesome from booking through the stay as they gave great recommendations and also ensured everything was going well during our stay. The only potential negative is that you can hear cars going by on Hwy 120 but we did not find this to be a problem. If you aren’t staying in the park, this is the way to go and you will not be disappointed.

Lovely views!
I loved this campsite! The views were lovely and there were convenient platforms for tents and water coolers set up at each site. The showers looked newly renovated and were very clean. Camping in November meant the wind was pretty strong up on the gorgeous cliff but I imagine this breeze would be nice in the warmer weather

Loved tent camping. Beautiful views to wake up to every morning. Liza was very communicative and helped us with all our needs. We went during the cold season so the hot showers were a big plus. Definitely coming back here in the spring/summer months!

The better KOA!
This was such an amazing camping site! The views were to die for and the amenities were perfect, easy to use, extremely accessible. Extremely close and BOOKABLE camping for Yosemite visitors (I literally want no one know of this place because it’s a true diamond in the rough). The sites were spaced out enough to feel that quiet solitude of the wilderness, without feeling totally alone and unsafe. Finally, while these are absolutely necessary for safety and ease, the platform was a bit uncomfortable to sleep over. SO, just bring an extra sleeping pad and tons of extra blankets and you’ll be fine. I 100% intend to camp here again!

Great platforms with some nice views, the bathroom/shower situation is also really nice. It is right off 120 so can be a bit loud at times. The neighbors across the valley were also partying a couple of the nights. You can get in to the the park in about 30 minutes and it's another 30 to the main valley area. Really convenient base to explore the wonders of Yosemite!

A great base for exploring Yosemite
We stayed for two nights in an Escape camper van; the location was perfect for exploring Yosemite Valley. Amazing views from our pitch at the top of the hill. The facilities are amazing; clean flushable toilets and clean, hot showers with towels and soap provided. We met the owners of the site who were incredibly friendly and gave us some great trips for the rest of our trip. We would definitely stay here again.

Waterfall Views!
Amazing valley view including a waterfall! This site was wonderfully located with excellent amenities AND it is super close to the park entrance. The hot showers were clutch after a long day of hiking they were clean and well stocked and I loved that they provided towels because I didn’t have to use mine and then pack it wet. Also, each site had a platform for the tent which we didn’t use since we were in a van but it was perfect for star gazing. Marty was an excellent host and we would definitely stay again!

Merced Camp: Tents/Small Vans
This campsite was very comfortable and had all the amenities listed, but the sites were a bit close together. Also, there are huge powerlines stretching right overhead, so you can hear some noise from those as well as noise from the freeway nearby. It wasn't as quiet and remote as I hoped it would be. Nevertheless, the views were beautiful. The host was very helpful and responsive too.

Loved it so much I was back the same month! Stayed at the upper tuolume campsite which had incredible views of the hills and nearby water fall. Was still very private. Platform was very big and acted as a great side table ! Tom and Liza were super friendly as always and I’ll definitely be coming back again soon!
