Easy access to either enjoy a leisurely walk, hike, bicycle, or horse ride along the trail to many destinations including Lake Cowichan, Shawinigan Lake, Duncan & more... or simply take in the beauty of the private pond area and picnic for the day with access to our Kitchenette with many extras! This is peaceful enjoyable tenting at its finest We have 4 pond tent sites, 1 RV site is situated away from the pond, and 1 camper-van site within a few steps to the pond for visiting your tenting friends; there is a shared outhouse, municipal water, fire-pit, and kitchenette a relaxing sitting area. Enjoy seeing what’s available at our small working hobby farm which includes eggs, chickens, and fresh berries, fruits, vegetables. 15min. to Lake Cowichan or travel 5min. to Duncan, Saturday is Farmers Market all year round and entertainment. Check out the "Duncan Showroom" or other venues for nightly live entertainment! Explore the many side streets for unique stores & food that is unique to Duncan. Did you know Duncan has 40 totem poles to find throughout the town? Visit local wineries, breweries, distilleries, Raptors bird Sanctuary, Hand of Man Museum, or many other sights! We’re also an easy drive away from Ladysmith, Cowichan Bay, Maple Bay (warmest ocean water on the island), or look for one of the largest Trestle bridges in North America... Just provide us with an idea of what you'd like to see and we can help with your adventure! Only 1hr from Victoria or Nanaimo.

It’s far enough away from the fire pit and other facilities that make this a great site. Cons: While we ask that guest from site #2 go around the west side of pond, there may be instances of a guest taking a route that walks past your site. Note: One unit per site only

Site#4 is a “full sun” site, the furthest away from pond on North East side of the gated tenting area; this is the closest site to the walk-in tenting area/entrance. Site#4 has no shade whereas #1/2/3 are shaded. We recommend pitching the tent 30' North of the Eastern willow tree. For example, 20' around the East willow tree is designated as Site #2 Note: One tent per site only

Firshade Group Camp at Red Bell Farm Tucked into a private fir-shaded pasture, this group multi-tenting area offers a peaceful and spacious retreat under the tall evergreens. Ideal for groups of 8–16 campers or even 16 tents! Firshade is completely self-contained, with no through traffic and three easy-access entry points. You may hear the occasional cluck from a nearby chicken, but no livestock are present in the pasture itself. This is our only designated group site, separated from the individual campsites for extra privacy. While there are no hookups or amenities beyond a shared outhouse, a water spigot is available near the barn. Bring your own camp kitchen… we do not provide access to shared facilities. Propane campfires only, please (no wood fires permitted). Parking is available for 4 vehicles outside the pasture. Additional vehicles may be permitted on a case-by-case basis. If you’re looking for an off-grid, a natural group experience, Firshade Group Camp is your perfect base to explore the Cowichan Valley. Stayed at Red Bell Farm and it was pure magic. The private peaceful campsite felt like our own slice of serenity, just a short drive from everyday amenities, with wildlife spotting around every corner and trails begging to be explored straight from the back. An unforgettable escape, all thanks to Gary for opening up such incredible land. Pure joy fireside by the pond, plus a simply equipped shared kitchen that made everything easy. Grateful beyond words, a Hipcamp gem for sure!

Nice farm and location ideal for stop over on our bike trip. The pit toilet was not the best as it was very smelly. The kitchen was awesome to have and a wonderful area to sit. Gary was very helpful, welcoming and responsive to our pre-arrival messages. We were the only campers there but the 3 sites are all very close to each other. I we enjoyed our stay.

Very nice little camping spot! We had the whole ground to ourselves which was awesome. The fridge and sink were a nice bonus and the outhouse was clean. The location is a very nice in-between Duncan and Lake Cowichan so it was easy to get to both places! The one downside is that the location is a double-edged sword: it’s close to the road that goes to Lake Cowichan, so you can hear cars sometimes. We spent 90% of our time away so it didn’t bother us much! Would recommend and will be coming back!

We had a wonderfully peaceful, private and quiet stay at the farm. Gary was super friendly and shared a wealth of local knowledge with us. We’d definitely recommend it, and wouldn’t hesitate to stay again!

A great experience camping at Red Bell Farm. The site was clean, comfortable, quiet, and overall very peaceful. The amenities like the outdoor kitchen and toilets were an added bonus. We would absolutely stay again!

Great spot close to town. Gary is super friendly and helpful and his sites are comfortable. Last night there were nine other campers and it didn't feel too close together. Amazing Farmers market and access to lots of hikes, water access and salt springs. The only con is the outhouse could use some significant upgrades and biodegradable support. It's a challenge to hold your nose long enough to go.

Our family of four was booked in for two nights in August. The weather was very hot and there was no shade on the tent site. We did not feel we could comfortably stay and left to find other accommodations that offered shade.

Red Bell Farm was an amazing spot! The hosts were exceptionally kind and the site is beautiful. Access to the Cowichan Valley trail allowed us to walk through the forest almost all the way to downtown Duncan:)

Alex came out and gave us a warm welcome then showed us around. He accommodated the current heat wave and adjusted the tent site booking to provide more shade right away. The pond is a very peaceful place with a wonderful kitchenette on its shore for all campers to gather and share stories. Would definitely book again.

Such a beautiful spot right next to the Cowichan Valley Trail! A beautiful farm, in a quiet location with plenty of space. The kitchenette is a nice addition for washing up/a hot drink! Highly recommend.

Gary was very nice. The sites were closer than I thought but it worked well and when not fully booked was a good place to sleep! Site 2 is very close to the communal area but was nice and shaded under the tree. I'd recommend someone to stay there if they don't mind sharing spaces or if it's just a place to sleep! You can hear the toads at night! And you can see them in the little pond during the day so the kids loved that!

Gary was a great host, super friendly and helpful and the space was just as described online. Gary gave us an extensive list of recommendations in and around Duncan; if your in Duncan on a Saturday, they have an amazing Farmer’s Market downtown. I would definitely camp here again if I was visiting Duncan!

All good except the washroom, it is very stinky, with lots of flies (no ehaust system and the pool is not deep enough), the washroom's door knob is very difficut to lock & unlock from inside, a child and an adult were locked inside until they finally turned off the stuck knob. The men's urinal is also in poor condition, I tried to flush it by turning on the manual cutoff valve, but the water pressure was too strong, it splashed out the urine inside, very unhygienical.

Upon arrival, we were greeted not just by a peacock, but by an entire ethos—roosters, farm cats, the hum of life moving with purpose. Your hospitality is not performative. We stayed at other sites on the island including government sites. Reb Bell was by far the best experience. Kind hosts, clean facilities, unexpected welcome amenities like the use of a kitchenette with a fridge. even Free coffee! You wont get more value anywhere else. The stay was pleasant, safe, calm and quiet. we extended our stay 3 times.

Place was as advertised. I loved the hang out area by the pond. Peaceful with friendly folks and a friendly cat which is always a bonus. Close to the trail, which was perfect for me as I came on bike. Would recommend!
