It’s hard to describe British Columbia as anything other than wildly breathtaking—quite literally when you swim in one of the province’s many turquoise glacier lakes, ride a wave, or catch a glimpse of a bear in the forest. The Pacific Ocean runs along the length of BC, offering plenty of oceanside spots to explore. Further inland, campers can find riverside camping in Squamish; backcountry huts around the resort town of Whistler; and reservable tent pads overlooking the jewel-toned Joffre Lake. We live in a little off-grid cabin deep in the Yalakom Valley in a small community of rustic-living and friendly folks. Please note that this property is located 40 km outside of Lillooet. Part of the road is a dirt road and a bit bumpy, best for cars that don't mind roughing it a little bit, and best for people who don't fear cliffs. You also lose service 5 minutes outside of Lillooet. The property is surrounded by one other large private lot on one side and some steep crown land on the other. You can explore our lot down to the river or you can drive to other locations like the Horseshoe (a great swim spot), Carpenter Lake (great for swimming, too), Lac La Mere (good for fishing), Carol Lake, and much more. All sites are located 150-200 feet away from our main house and share the same outhouse. However, it is unlikely for us to have more than one site booked the same time, so there is ample privacy. Valemount townsite is 15 minutes away and is home to a renowned mountain bike park, and excellent restaurants such as the Glacier fire Pizza. Learn more about this land: Wild Coast has 2 nightly campsites for you to enjoy. Site one is a large, flat open gravel base. And Site 2 is a large, flat grass based site. Please note you must have your own trailer or tent. We’re a 5-10 minute drive to Rathtrevor beach/Parksville, Englishman River. We are right in the middle of an extensive trail network perfect for hiking, mountain biking, horseback riding.  Both sites have plenty of space for RVs and trailers - we can accommodate vehicles up to 45ft in length. 30 amp Electrical and potable water hookups are available on both sites. WI-FI onsite as well. There is a flush toilet and sink available in our farm store that is available for guest use. No shower yet, but we are working on it! The property is private yet close to all amenities. Local favorite Rocking Horse Pub is a quick walk next door and a must-stop for dinner and drinks!  Centrally located on Vancouver Island, it’s a perfect spot to set up the rig and day trip out to Rathtrevor, Little Qualicum, Parksville, Coombs, Port Alberni valley and Nanaimo, or go for an overnighter in Victoria, Tofino, Mount Washington and the Comox Valley. Campfires are permitted as long as there is no fire ban and we have dry firewood for sale onsite. If you would like firewood send us a message before you arrive. Pets are welcome, but please be responsible for them. There is a large open grass field for you to let them run and burn off that energy. PLEASE NOTE that this is a campsite and the trailers in the photos are not for rent.

Hi! We’re your hosts, Seth, Jodie, and Megan Williams. Recently we decided to share our property that we love and have enjoyed so much for two reasons: to give others the opportunity to enjoy it and to put money away for university. Our parents, Mark and Sarah, got behind the vision and are excited to be part of this project with us. We would describe our property as: home…and a really fun place to grow up! Our parents thought that wasn’t descriptive enough for Hipcamp so they’ve helped us describe it more. We live in a quiet neighbourhood in a forest that has been a source of peace, relaxation, and fun for us in our growing up years. We’ve noticed that people who visit here say they feel the same way. With plenty of space for kids to explore and adults to relax, our 3 acre forest is perfect for down time with a book in the hammock or a nature walk before dinner. Amenities and service: A single, tidy campsite with picnic table surrounded by mature and gently manicured forest, as well as a hammock, and a new construction outhouse. (Go dad!) We love hospitality, so though we won’t always be around when you’re here, if we are and you need something you can simply ask and we’ll do our best to provide what you need. To help you feel welcome we provide a fresh, cool jug of drinking water and large container of fresh potable water as well as access to an outside tap to fill water containers if needed (upon request) , power to charge devices (upon request), and a campfire ring with firewood (sorry about the frequent fire bans. Huge bummer. We will post current fire ban status while you’re here.) Surroundings and local attractions: Our property is situated in a low traffic rural residential area within ¬ 3 km to Sandy Pool Regional Park (5 min) A family favourite! ¬ 10 km to the Cowichan Valley Museum (Duncan Totem Tour) (13 min) ¬ 14 km to the Pacific Northwest Raptor Center (15 min) ¬ 19 km to the Hand of Man Museum (20 min) ¬ 20 km to Lake Cowichan (16 min) for swimming, boating, kayaking, paddle boarding, etc Note: Lake Cowichan is also home to ‘The Tube Shack’ where you can rent tubes to float down the Cowichan River and catch the Tube Shack Bus back to your car. We do it every summer! Fun fact! It’s a 10-minute bike ride from our house to the Cowichan Valley Bike Trail. *(All destinations calculated from our dining table by Google maps) There are multiple well known hikes within 20 minutes (we suggest googling Stoney Hill Trail, Mt Tzouhalem, and Mt. Prevost.)

Weekend Trip to Maple Tree

Jim went above and beyond by responding to all of my messages in a timely manner when we were looking for somewhere to stay at very short notice . He even allowed us to check in early because we had a sizeable travel trailer in tow and had nowhere to safely leave it when we’re were between camping sites. His property was clean and well maintained and located in a very quiet residential area just minutes from Ganges town. Jim was available to answer any questions we may have had about the area, places to go and sights to see. He has even built a viewing deck next to his home so that his guests can sit and enjoy the view of the ocean . I’d def recommend staying here to anyone looking for camping on salt spring island.

Weekend Trip to The Camp at Kitchensink Farm

This was a lovely spot we found last minute, host was friendly and accommodating and responded quickly. We appreciated the fenced in garden space for our dog and the extra touches of the outdoor kitchen and although we didn’t use shower house.. we definitely will next time when we cone back for a mtb adventure with property so close to trails. Love that this is a farm animal sanctuary and proceeds go back into caring for the animals. We’ll be back.

This is my first Hipcamp and I couldn't be happier with the property and owner. You do get a bit of road noise during the day, but it calms down nicely at night. The views are spectacular, the spots are well spaced, very clean, well-groomed grass and easy to find for self-parking. Come self-sustainable, but there is plenty of open sky for solar and Starlink.

2 nights at The Camp at Kitchensink Farm

Such a beautiful stay in one of my favourite places! I’m so incredibly grateful to have found this spot. The camper was cute and had everything we needed to enjoy meals and sleep comfortably. My dogs were able to have a little yard and we set up a propane fire to enjoy under the stars. The property itself is stunning and close to all your needs. Gumboot cafe, the pier, beaches, Sunday cider, trails as well as a good proximity to explore more of the coast on little day adventures. We also really enjoyed going to Jeans organic foods which was super close and had so many vegan grocery items and other tasty things which was helpful and healthy. I of course had to visit some thrift shops which also were very accessible. The sanctuary for the rescued animals was my favourite. So much love and compassion and patience and empathy go into providing for these deserving lives. It was truly heartwarming and definitely filled my cup seeing what Kitchensink has done in creating a safe and nurturing space but most of all, a second chance. I highly recommend a stay here. The fact that it goes towards helping this sanctuary provide is even more of a reason other than it just being complete serenity. Thanks so much again for the hospitality and kindness and for trusting us in this paradise you have created. We felt at home!

I brought two friends who were first time visitors to Canada and they loved the whole experience! The cabin itself was small but very very cozy (3 adults & 1 dog), and waking up to a big window facing the forest was my favourite part. The washroom was very clean, and there were enough kitchen utensils for us to cook hotpot. It was close to a few good trails around cultus too. Really recommend this place for those who want to camp but want no hassle and a soft bed to sleep in :))

Absolutely loved the Tipi! Set up was great, such amazing sleeps on the beds with the fresh air, propane provided to keep the chill out of the air with the propane fire pit in the middle. Absolutely clear skies to see all the stars and satellites and milky way. Got to watch a thunder storm rolling through but not hit us which was amazing. Outdoor hot tub and the outdoor shower are both amazing. Love that this option is available to just show up and not really need to bring alot but still get to camp. Make sure you have a AWD or 4WD vehicle with some clearance to get up the hill to camp site, especially if there has been any rain. If coming to the area again we will definitely be looking at it again or even trying on of the cabins!
