Truly Unique Sojourn
Sometimes when you arrive at a place, you understand just the act of being there will change you. Antelope Hogan was one of the most singular experiences for myself and my family. Our host Richardson and his family kindly welcomed us and shared stories about the land; and their relationship with it through the processes of making shelter, food, and tea. The dirt floor of the Hogan was freshly dressed–being the first footsteps in the space made us feel cherished and lucky. My kids loved having the room heated with a real wood stove, wandering in the wash, seeing the Etsitty family livestock from a distance, and being in the glory of sunset and sunrise away from buildings, sidewalks and roads. We woke up amazed at how deeply rested we felt, without the quiet noise of daily machinery like refrigerators, furnaces or clocks.

Richardson was an incredibly amazing host. We had a 1 night booking. We arrived really late after 9 PM but he was very responsive and arrived quickly when we reached our destination. We were welcomed in a cultural gem which is the amazing Hogan with a really nice signboard on the door with my name on it which was a great gesture by Richardson. Richardson gave us some insight about the Navajo culture when we arrived, we wish our schedule was not tightly packed as we would have loved to spend more time with Richardson and learn more about the Navajo culture. The Hogan itself was a piece of art, it brings u close to the nature in a divine way, the insulation is great and the beds are comfortable. There is a fire pit outside too if u want to enjoy under a beautiful sky which lights up as there is no city lights nearby. Our host arrived in morning with some traditional breakfast, coffee and Navajo tea (loved it), and later came to say good bye to us as we were leaving. Overall, we had a long trip touching
4 different states but our stay here became the highlight, all 4 other members of my group loved it too, can not wait to come here again and spend couple of days to learn more
about the beautiful Navajo culture

Amazing experience, fantastic host
Amazing place to stay near page AZ. We were a group of 4 and stayed at the Hogan on Dec 24th and the hut was cozy despite the strong wind and cold outside. The hogan has a truly authentic feel to it. Richardson is one of the best hosts i have ever had. He was super quick with responses and met us at the entrance even though we were quite late. The place had everything we needed including firewood, water, pack of cards, lanterns, blankets etc. If you come before sunset you can have a fireside chat with the host. At night light pollution is very less and the sky looked amazing.
In the morning Richardson brought us traditional Navajo blue corn meal with hot coffee and honey. After breakfast he also explained about the Navajo culture and his family and we had quite an engaging discussion. He also played a musical instrument like a flute and it was an amazing experience.
Overall i would definitely return and would strongly recommend the Navajo Hogan to anyone looking for a rustic authentic experience near Antelope Canyon

Cozy Stay
Very cozy in the cold weather and the traditional breakfast was a lovely touch. It was interesting to hear about the history of the land. If you are looking for authenticity in your travels this is the place for you.
