There is something profoundly healing and soothing about time in nature. For some people, access to the natural world might be right outside your doorstep,  but for many of us, having access to nature requires driving somewhere for a hike or a camping trip.  Most of us end up in locations that are open to the public,  and that are shared with other visitors.

The Lookout at Raven Ridge is different; it is made up of 50 acres of wooded land and fields that adjoin 250 additional acres, all of which are privately owned and uninhabited.   During your stay, you will have access to all 50 acres, which include large rock faces, streams, and hiking trails, while knowing the other 250 are a buffer from the rest of the world! Pitch your tent on or near our expansive deck overlooking the Red River Gorge, and prepare to take in the views of sunsets, souring ravens, butterflies in the canopy and maybe a blanket of morning fog.

Only minutes away from the Red River Gorge climbing spots located on Route 77, various Daniel Boone hiking access points, and a 10 minute drive to Cave Run Lake.  If you are into fishing, the East Fork Indian Creek River is about 20 minutes away by car.  According to their website "East Fork of Indian Creek can be a nice solitude fly fishing location with a couple miles of stream to explore. The stream underwent a restoration project leaving us with multiple plunge pools, plenty of rock/wood structures, and open banks for vegetation growth. Rainbow trout in the 8-14″ range are the main targets in Indian Creek, but they stock some browns too!"

PLEASE BE ADVISED - There have been bear sightings in the area, so be sure to bring bear spray just in case.

Remote camping close to RRG, perfect for our family! We hiked some of the marked trails and enjoyed meals on the platform. The sunset and moon set were stunning with the western view! We set our tent in the woods and were insulated from any wind. I was amazed at how quiet it got during the night, very peaceful.

Property is absolutely gorgeous. Our family wanted to do some fall time camping and was not disappointed in this property.

We did our research and from what we could see dogs were allowed on most of the trails but upon arrival at the park we realized they were not (Sky bridge). Thankfully at the camp site the owner had trails that helped make up for that! The hike to the waterfall is a great workout. The camp site was very clean. She provided wood, fire pit, 2 chairs, picnic table, a large table, and even a ladder. The Clift view made our whole trip. Thanks for having us!

Absolutely stunning campsite that had everything we needed - fire pit with wood, pinic table and a wonderful wooden deck overlooking the gorge and forest! Campsite was very private and very clean. All we could hear were the sounds of nature and our own laughter! All of the hikes that we took were within a 25 minute drive of camp. Beautoful sunsets and star gazing.

The drive to the lookout was incredible. We drove up from the south through Red River Gorge and had a lot of fun. When we arrived we drove through a wildflower field all the way back to a wonderfully secluded camping spot. 😍 It lightly at night and in the morning which made for a relaxing, calming experience.

The property was easy to find and the path to the site was obvious once through the gate. The deck was nice and had 2 chairs and a picnic table. The fire pit was large and there was covered firewood nearby. The two trails starting by the site were marked with signs, but not really true paths. My friend and I would have walked them if it was just us, but we had five dogs between the two of us and didn't want them basically walking through the brush. However, it is a short drive to many trails in the area. There is plenty of space at the site to set up tents, park vehicles or have a camper. The host also sent a very informative email with an address to a nearby hospital in case of emergency, routes to the property, the gate code, their contact info, and a video of a camper and vehicles driving to the site on the property. However, the video showed a relatively smooth and hilly gravel path with mowed grass in the center. When we got there, the path was not mowed and the grass was 3 feet tall in some areas (even taller to the sides of the path) and parts of the path had large ruts/holes that are hard (and sometimes impossible) to avoid. Also, there is a tree along the path to the site with a low hanging branch. We were able to get to the site and back, just letting people know that if you have a camper (for reference, mine is 10.5 ft. tall and 22.5 ft. long), you will hit that branch (just go slow, it's flexible) and will most likely hit some ruts. If it rains, you will most likely get stuck. I did get stuck for a second in a muddy rut filled with water trying to avoid that branch, but was able to get out. There were also some muddy water filled ruts in the pull around loop at the site. You can avoid those if you are careful and go slow. I recommend a low gear and 4x4 to drive the path with a camper with the conditions we had. One you get to the site, though, it is pretty level with space to park the camper and be able to walk around it without issue. the sunsets were beautiful and while you could hear sounds (dogs on a property nearby, vehicles, etc.) it wasn't very loud or disruptive at all. It was a nice site to stay at to visit the area.

Second time staying at the Lookout at Raven Ridge and very pleased with it! The views are incredible and the best part is the seclusion! No one else nearby!

A perfect place for a weekend away from the fast pace of life. Beautiful forest, meadows and overlook. We did see a copperhead snake sunning itself on the rocks at the overlook. So be sure to respect wildlife and be aware! The deck and the view were absolutely blissful. It’s also just a 30 minute beautiful drive through Red River Gorge to get Miguel’s pizza. If you’re willing to rough it with no amenities, it’s a gem.

Keep your eyes peeled for copperheads! Beautiful view deserves a nature shrine another nice hike on the property Short walk to an awesome overlook.

Great place to get away & enjoy nature. Close to the gorge, not too far from town, and secluded ! Carli's directions were the best !! I had no doubts about getting lost and the property was very easy to navigate. The road back to the deck was a little rough as warned, i scrapped a few times in my corolla, but once i learned the road it was very easy to avoid !

The waterfall is close enough that it can be heard from the back of the deck, lovely when watching the sun set. Just a short hike over to it with a sign marking the way. It was a great place to get away to for a few days, will definitely be trying to use this place again !!
