If you stayed here and have some insider info for us, let us know!
The site was big, clean and well described. The views of the lake were nice and there was a nice fire pit and plenty of wood was provided. There was also a cooler of water present. Communication with David was prompt and clear and we felt most welcome at his camp.
I will say that this is way out there and there isn’t much of anything around and cell service is spotty at best. So if you are looking for a place to get away from it all, like we were then this is a good place to go.
We absolutely loved camping here! David and Chelsea are so kind and welcoming, and the campsite was full of thoughtful touches. The place itself is absolutely gorgeous, and we had a ton of privacy. The latrine was the nicest I’ve ever seen. Highly recommend.
David greeted and welcomed us to his camp grounds. The site we had was nicely secluded on a lake point with access to the lake. The grounds were very clean. It felt as if we were deep in the woods, which is exactly the experience we sought.
Beautiful, peaceful stay!
We had a wonderful stay! David and Chelsea were friendly and thoughtful hosts! The site is very private and serene. The weather during our stay was perfect! We slept the first night without the rain fly on our tent and enjoyed a sky full of stars! There were so many amazing birdsongs, frog choruses, and even donkey brats - I felt like nature was giving us a serenade. The owners have thoughtfully arranged the campsite for maximum enjoyment. The fire pit is at least 8 feet in diameter (maybe 10!) and when we arrived, the perfect wood arrangement was ready for us to start our inaugural fire. It was a beauty and caught fire quickly! There is also an ample custom cooktop built into the fire pit that we enjoyed cooking on. Bring your cast iron! Three of the larger trees are lit up at night with solar-powered string lights, which provided the perfect amount of ambient glow. I was also thankful for the semicircle of tiki torches around the picnic table area! Welcoming touches like an outside rug, plenty of chairs around the fire, decorative bird houses, a welcome sign, and the American flag made us feel quite at home. Chelsea was very kind to show us around her farm, and introduce us to her chickens, new baby chicks, and horses. Our kids (ages 11 and 7) were thrilled to pet and feed the horses and we enjoyed hiking all around the expansive property! We were thrilled to find a paddleboat and fishing boat for our use during our stay. The hosts provided life vests, paddles, fishing poles, and we bought some bait! They’ve included so much with their package! We can’t wait to visit again! Next time we plan to stay longer to take advantage of all there is to do and see.
A peaceful private peninsula
This spot was awesome. Surrounded by water and trees on an elevated private peninsula. Was really nice to have table, water, hammock and chairs provided, and we also took advantage of the available boat and bait. Host was extremely hospitable and generous with his time. It was nice to hear the animals nearby too (cows, horses, chickens and some very vocal donkeys). Minimal drawbacks - slight grade in much of the area, and the recently cleared area had a bunch of small remaining stumps, which David (host) pointed out to us upon arrival. Also, no toilet available - otherwise I would have had to be dragged away from here, kicking and screaming!
David was a great camp host. Everything was set up and ready for us upon arrival. Having water on site was especially helpful. At one point, my husband went to check with David about the weather forecast, and he even let our kiddo feed his horses a couple apples.
The spacious and secluded campsite has beautiful views. It is located on a small peninsula with water on three sides and was easy to access in our Westy.
The lake has duck weed that seems to move in and out with the wind or current. The fishing is good, and having the option to take the small boat out was nice.
While there were definitely farm related noises, the site was private and peaceful. We found the donkey brays from a neighboring farm to be quite entertaining.
Some kind of outhouse or composting toilet on or near the site would be a huge plus, but we would stay here again regardless.
Beautiful and tons of extras
The McDonald’s were great hosts. The campsite was just awesome. They provided a camp rug, water, firewood, a hammock, picnic table citronella candles, a food prep table, sitting chairs, a garbage can, and even the American flag! There was plenty of space to park and maneuver. The campsite has water views on 3 sides! Absolutely beautiful! We bought the extra farm fresh eggs. Tasty! You can also rent boats from them. We will definitely be back.
Staying at Two Crane Lake was an awesome experience. David & Chelsea were gracious hosts. It was very easy to communicate with them while we were there. They had our campsite all set up for us and even our campfire. They met us at the entrance to their farm and let us follow them to our site. The boats were a hit with all of us! We had a view of the lake out of every window in our camper! We will definitely be back!
