Solo stay was great
The stay was great! I had the whole place to myself and really got to enjoy the solitude. The instructions were clear to get in and where to set up.
Only drawback was I got wood at the local gas station and it did not burn well. If you're looking for a consistent fire I would recommend getting wood elsewhere.
Will definitely give another try
Overall our experience was pretty good but we had to cut our hike short because a hunter was camped out on the trail and was shooting in the area. We didn't feel safe going to far out and risking a accident. Other than that it was a beautiful place and everything was clean and well taken care of.
Great quiet place to relax, not too far from Starved Rock. They added a gravel path to drive on and some more porta-potties, much is the luxury. Especially enjoyed their sites that you have to walk into.
This was our second stay at Angel Creek and I can’t recommend it enough! From the site selection (tip: use a computer to browse the site options on HipCamp and you’ll see all the details and reviews for each site specifically! Extremely helpful if you have a particular need in mind such as privacy, privy-proximity, etc).
I loved hammocking and tent camping. The fall colors were fun. The paths were beautiful to walk through. There was a gentleman across from me with a flute and a TP and that also made my day. My firewood was waiting for me at my site, and the portapotty was SUPER clean.
This is a really lovely campground, which the owners clearly care for well. We stayed two nights and walked around the property to check it all out. There are a lot of great options for sites! Some are more private than others. (The sites on the open grassy area are the least private, woodsy sites are the most private.) We stayed at site 7 which had room for two small tents and was well secluded by trees (though it was close to other sites, everyone was generally very quiet in the evening). You can hear some traffic, but otherwise it feels like you are very much in a natural area. It was an easy drive to Starved Rock where we went hiking. Would absolutely come back again. Thank you Omar!
Great hipcamp host and site
Omar’s sites are well taken care of. He is flexible and welcoming and was there to help us find a site that was more suitable for our group size. There are a variety of different sites there as well which is nice. Great hiking trails on property.
Perfect for visiting chicago
Angel Creek was a perfect site for visiting Chicago and the surrounding suburbs. About 90 minutes to downtown. 50 minutes to Plainfield/Romeoville. Super clean port-o-johns. Fun trails throughout the property. Pristine campsites with metal fire rings were just as pictured. No other campers on my first night. One other couple camped at the site across from me on night #2. I would definitely stay here again when visiting the city and suburbs.
