Beautiful but hard to peg down tent
Overall the campsite was great, the hosts were super kind and helpful and the location was quite beautiful! We arrived at sunset which was gorgeous and the frogs and birds chirping were very lovely. Our main issue was with the ground at the site, it was dusty and hard, and no matter where we tried to put in the tent pegs, they would not go in the ground more than about an inch. We tried using both metal and plastic pegs and could not get the tent secured down. If it weren’t for this issue this stay would have been 10/10, but the ground makes it very impractical for tenting. It would be great in a truck with a pop-up trailer or something similar, but we would not return again with a tent.
Brit's property felt very safe and the sunset and starry sky were beautiful. It also had an extremely well-maintained outhouse.
But, the space itself was somewhat rough - totally serviceable but covered in slightly spikey plants (tough for walking or sitting on) and with several large ant hills (not biting ants, and definitely possible to avoid, but a lot of rather large mounds).
On net, a totally fine place to stay but not one we would seek out again as-is. (I am sure the property could be improved to solve these downsides!)
Site on a hill!
This spot was perfect for our stay. Quiet and peaceful. The view of the stars was spectacular. We found a nice level spot to put up our tent and a couple of trees close for putting up the hammock. It was hot! Bring lots of water! Perfect for our dog as no others were close by. Very clean site. No garbage anywhere.
Amazing experience! We stumbled upon this as we were passing through on a road trip and it was a pleasant surprise. Very friendly host and easy to find with a great view. Would highly recommend to anyone in the area!
A blissful evening under the stars
At first, I wasn't sure what I had gotten myself into. What was the deal with this campground in the middle of nowhere? That's what made it even more special. The is absolutely no light or noise pollution. Just the sounds of nature. Lots and lots of birds as well as rooters at about 5 am. The really special part of waking up in the country was the two owls that were perched above my tent.
Note that a vehicle with a bit of ground clearance is a must. I have a Subaru Forester and did great. I am usually not comfortable to camp in an area without at least a few nearby campers, I will definitely book a spot here again.
They met us and dove us in. We were the only ones so they set us up on the best spot to overlook the valley.
There are house and farms near by but not close enough to bother you. The wildlife is all around and the sounds are amazing. Just watch out for the red ant beds but other wise it was a great spot for a night of camping!
