Biking from north idaho getaway
Mike's North Idaho Getaway campsite is sandwiched between the Coeur d'Alene River and the 73-mile paved Trail of the Coeur d'Alenes bike path. It is a grass-covered spot adjacent to one of Mike's hayfields. My wife and I have enjoyed camping there two summers and will return.
Our interest is the bike path. The drive into Mike's camping location crosses the bike path and you have a private entrance to the path.. The North Idaho Getaway is centrally located along the "flat" portions of the trail along the river and lake. My wife and I peddled west from North Idaho Getaway to the bridge across Lake Coeur d'Alene at Chatcolet and back, approximately 40 miles with no hill.
North Idaho Getaway is perfect for going either east or west and staying on relatively flat, paved bike trail for mile after mile though woods and wetlands. Keep your eyes open for water fowl and for moose..
Camping on coeur d'alene river
This is a great little site sandwiched between the CDA bike trail and the Coeur d'Alene River. We arrived by bike and found the site easily from the pictures on Hipcamp. The site was well mowed and flat, making it easy to set up a tent. There is a large tree at the south end of the site which provided much needed shade, as it was HOT! We appreciated having a little picnic table as a place to eat and to organize our gear. The site does not have a toilet or potable water, so bring your own. Don't plan to filter from the river since it's known to have heavy metals. While there were several loud boats up and down the river during the day, it was very quiet at night and we slept well. Overall, it was a lovely setting and a nice place to camp!
This was a very very nice camping spot. Plenty of room, right on the river and just a stones throw away from the Coeur d’Alene bike path. This was especially nice with my mobility scooter. We even saw a moose while scooting down the bike path. I highly highly recommend it. Mike the host was wonderful through the whole process. 10 stars
We LOVED our camping trip! Mike is so so kind! The property is absolutely gorgeous, secluded, private and quiet! The bike trail runs right next to the site, it was a blast and my kiddos made wonderful memories! Will definitely be back!!!
