Description
Named for an inlet on the stunning and vast Coeur d’Alene River, Bell Bay Campground offers the best of both lakeside camping worlds—the upper camp loop, which can serve as a 60 person group site, is on a hill overlooking this bonkers body of sparkling water. With no direct lake access, but a killer view to wake up to, the lower loop along the shoreline is closer to the swimming docks, and connected to the upper loop by a small trail. Whichever you choose on this first-come, first-served campground, you’re unlikely to be disappointed. Anglers have loads of trout and salmon, hikers have the Bell Bay foot path running a mile along the water, and everyone can agree that it rules to have towering ponderosa pines keeping you shaded from the bright sun. Another agreeable point? The nearby town of Harrison has a creamery and fudge shop, featuring wild huckleberry shakes you can’t leave Idaho without trying.
