The place itself is beautiful, we had good time camping under the covered area which helped since it's been raining. Waking up in the morning to the view of the rich garden is so much fun.
The outdoorsy hot shower was fun.
Hosting-wise we were disappointed. We thought it'd be a bit more of a social experience but Charlene wasn't very welcoming, just showed us in 10 seconds where we gonna camp and the shower and that's it.
The tour with Daniel was interesting and he was very nice. Overall recommended experience!
Charlene's land was truly incredible! It was peaceful and private, though there is an additional cottage on the land for other guests (we never saw them if there was anyone there). She wasn't there when we arrived but the land was pretty easy to navigate. There are TONS of unique plants and fruits to explore! There was even a little covering to pitch your tent under in the case of rain. The shower was cold, but there was a shower which was a blessing nonetheless. We had service which was a great plus, but no electricity which we didn't take into account. It's located next to the most beautiful black sand beach, but it is clothing optional so don't be surprised!
Charlene was a great host, and her mother was so sweet! Her camp site is absolutely gorgeous with flowers and fruit everywhere. The outdoor bathroom was private, and showering in a jungle like setting was a neat feature. The drive to Bliss Camp is also really pretty, with trees covering the street, and many places to pull over and watch the waves crash against the rocks. Overall I loved staying there and my only regret was not applying mosquito repellent before getting there!
I really enjoyed my (too short) stay here. Beautiful shaded property with growing papaya, passion fruit, and more. I loved the hot open air shower and chill vibe. Thanks to Daniel, Charlene, and Charlene's mom for being great hosts.
This was one my favorite areas on the big island as well. Nice hot pools for soaking down the road at Isaac Hale Beach Park, with beautiful rainforest canopied roads and black cliffed beaches. Nearest restaurants and supplies are back in Pahoa, but I found a nice place for coffee and light eats not far from Charlene's place, called Kalani (I think). I'd shoot for more time out here on my next trip...
