Located on the Big Island of Hawaii, about 10 mi north of the city of Hilo. We are proud to offer hammock cabanas which are a unique luxurious form of amenity-rich camping (often called glamping). You don’t need bring all of your bulky camping gear on the airplane in order to experience the best camping in the United States.

Each cabana is screened in for comfort allowing the tropical breezes to flow through and each has closeable rain shield curtains to keep the wind and water out when necessary. They each include two large adjustable hammocks which allow for either flat or cradled sleeping. The hammocks can each hold up to two people (up to 450 lbs or 204 kg) so guests may choose to either sleep together or separately. Also inside, there is a solar powered overhead light with pull cord and a large cooler to store your cold food and drinks with an ice block (sold separately nearby). Towels, blankets, and pillows are included. Don’t waste your Hawaiian vacation cooped up in a hotel room. Come enjoy the real Hawaii, where the gentle breeze and tree frogs will lull you to sleep each night.

Glampers have access to our open air full bathroom with running water and a stunning rainfall shower (located at the main house). They also have access to our covered outdoor kitchen with grills, a sink, prep space, dining area, dishes, cups, silverware, and cookware (also located at the main house).

Beautiful stay! The outdoor shower at night, light breeze and sounds at night were all amazing. Would definitely book again!

We booked a hammock cabana last minute and what a little gem of a spot! We loved the outdoor kitchen area for breakfast and my daughter loved following the neighborhood cats all over the place. The cabana was clean am we had no trouble sleeping in the hammocks. The next morning a quick dip in the swimming hole was icing on the cake!

A fine stay but need to be comfortable with some loose birds here for the cheap stay. Hostel vibes.

Swimming in the private waterfalls are the major plus. Not the best for light sleepers. Also don’t wait for Akaka falls to open. Hit it early before they open

Come with a lot of Aloha and an open mind. Meeting new people and sharing some food, drinks, and stories is what I love about this place. The bathrooms and kitchen area were well stocked and clean. Shy day geckos kept our Cabana free from bugs. Fall asleep and wake up to the sounds of a tropical rainforest - birds, frogs ect.

We enjoyed our time at Hamakua House! The staff and other guests were super friendly and everything was clean and easy to find. The night we were there, the heavens opened up and rained hard for 12-15 straight hours, but we were dry and warm inside our lil' cabana.
