We spent 2 nights and 3 days at Mindy's farm. It was just perfect. We are beginner campers with a 6 yo who loves animals. The place is easy to find, plenty of space, plenty of shade, fire ring, bathroom, shower, silence/sounds of nature, horses, turkeys, chicken, cows... It is really great. The location is fantastic to visit the Florida springs without being in the crowd. Mindy took time to show us the farm, and explain everything our curious son would ask about the animals. He even learned to walk a horse, and ride on it.
We could not be happier with our weekend. Thanks Mindy!
What a wonderful place to take kids. Our 2!year old granddaughter had the best time with the goats, horses, and bunnies. Thanks Mindy for sharing your farm with us!!! We will definitely be back.
Great stay, can’t wait to go back!
Mindys place is awesome! Great experience! Very quiet and serene and all the farm life animals were an awesome perk to see and get to know. Mindy is very friendly and educational and lets the kids learn and check out all the animals too. The location is awesome, convenient to many of the different springs in the area. We would definitely recommend !
Upon arrival we were guided in by David, who got us all set up with hooking up our RV. The property is spacious and the sites are all uniquely arranged for varying camper sizes. There are mature trees that provide full-day shade at the campsites. The allocated tent camping area has a picnic table available, and there are bonfire rings with plenty of firewood and kindling available. There’s a camp bathroom with a modern flush toilet and sink, which is illuminated by blue solar lights at nights for campers to easily navigate to it.
Mindy was warm and friendly, and we spent our evening chatting with her and getting a tour of her land and an introduction to the resident animals. Mindy jokes that her farm is a geriatric animal rescue, and it’s incredible to hear the stories of her animals. There are senior horses and a rescued dairy cow and her calf who were all friendly and loved getting some handfuls of clover.
There are also some barn cats, most of them on the shy side. We loved on a sweet 13 year old tortoiseshell cat who was completely blind, but that didn’t stop her from being friendly and purring whenever we pet her.
There’s a beautiful path lined with trees that leads to the large stocked pond on the property. Campers are welcome to fish along its banks. There are trails leading into the surrounding woods for hikers also.
Our time at Mindy’s was relaxing and peaceful, and we couldn’t get enough time in loving on the sweet animals that are lucky enough to call this place home.
Just what we needed
Mindy was such a gracious host. She let each of our boys go riding on one of her horses - the highlight of our trip! She took time beforehand to explain horse safety which was very helpful. She has so many animals for the kids to enjoy. We especially loved her sweet rabbits. We even got to go fishing in her pond and caught a fish.
It was a great way to have a family getaway!
Mindy's the best
I wasn't aware of the limited campgrounds due to Bikers' weekend and I happened to stumble on this site. I hit the jackpot! I spent all day driving from one campground to another and I was in need of a last minute stay and I got lucky!!! I couldn't have asked for a better stay.
Mindy and her husband were absolutely 100% accommodating and extremely generous. Sharing their space and their story was such a lovely exchange! I am fairly new to hipcamp and camping in general and felt very safe and secure in their site. I loved the quiet get away and the recommendations Mindy gave for local adventures and food.
You must try DeLeon Springs' Old Spanish Sugar Mill, it is a must but get there about 45-30mins before opening as it fills up quick! Thank you Mindy for all the hospitality and care you showed myself and the family that was staying while on our visit!
We had a fantastic week, we parked our rented RV for 6 days and the kids (9 and 11) they didn’t go any other place. Beside RV hooks fully equipped, we enjoyed with Mindy and her beautiful farm, great for hiking, campground activities and share with farm animals, we will go back next winter
Beautiful, unique experience!
Although the weather was not on our side for this trip, we had a wonderful time. The kids had fun riding Mikey, and enjoyed helping Mindy feed some of the animals. They also loved fishing in the pond. We want to go back sometime. The location would be excellent for a base camp near the Ocala National Forest for some spring hopping adventures. My daughter would love to see Mikey and the other horses again too! Excellent first farm camping experience!
Fun and peaceful overnight stay
Mindy was great, she gave us a tour of all the animals and had entertaining stories about all of them. My daughter loved feeding the horses, cows and goat and we both enjoyed catching fish in the little pond on the property. We had a nice shady spot under oak trees with an easy pull through (make sure you let her know if you are a novice RV driver that way she can direct you to an easier spot to park!) Bathroom was just an outhouse with a shower, but it was very clean and well lit with motion lights to find at night.
