What a great campsite! My friends and I host group camping often and this site was perfectly spacious and cozy. The composting bathroom was the best feature, and Marco was super helpful with making sure we had everything we needed. There were tons of frogs and other wildlife roaming around on the property and we ventured out to the little secluded creek. I’d stay here again 😊
Had a great weekend staying here with my son and two pups. Marco was very chill and met us upon arrival to show us the property and drop off some fire wood.
The campsite has a huge fire pit and picnic table, chairs to use and we also found some tiki torches. If you walk a few yards past the camp site you will find a massive oak tree and a little spring fed creek with refreshing cool water you can swim in.
Whether you are looking for a place to get away for the weekend or planning a vacation to the many surrounding springs this is a choice spot. It’s located within 20-40 minutes of highly popular locations like Rainbow River, crystal River, Chassahowitzka and Weeki Wachee.
This is a primitive camp site, so not ideal for glampers, I highly recommend bringing a tarp for under your tent and an air mattress because the camping area does have a lot of lime stones sticking up, but a couple of spots where they are minimal.
As long as this place is available we’ll be back.
We thoroughly enjoyed this woodsy, shady, private campsite. Secluded but close to town. Doggo and i splashed in the creek while hubby cast a line. He was super pleased to reel in 10-12 Crappie and 1 baby Bass with worm for bait. Water was clear, clean and very refreshing. Campsite is large and yes, there's limestone ,but still plenty of spots to pitch tents. Nice, clean compost privy on site. We slept great here with awesome owls hooting on and off throughout the night. Would definitely return!
Awesome host…phenomenal camp site!!
Had a great night staying here! Marco was an awesome host who ensured all of our needs were met. The plot of land certainly surpassed our expectations. Close enough to be near everything…yet totally secluded and private. Exactly what we sought! We cannot wait to book again!
Nice set up
Marco and his wife greeted me upon arrival and gave me a tour of the campsite and creek that it on site. They were very warm and welcoming. Campsite has a picnic table inside a screened tent which was great because it did rain the second d morning. Composting toilet was a nice addition. Huge fire pit with seating and tiki torches. I’d definitely go back! Marco was very quick with responses to my questions and offered help with kayak rentals.
Good camping spot for the winter
The campground is a great private area but primitive as described. There are lots of mosquitoes and the area gets fairly muddy when wet. It would probably be a better campground for the wintertime when there are not as many mosquitoes and there is less rain. If you would like to keep everything super dry you should probably bring your own tent to cover your stuff or leave it in your car. Also bring a tarp to put under your tent. The area headed to the creek is a little overgrown but again would probably be better in the winter. Overall it was a great experience minus the mosquitoes and rain. It is very close to the main part of Crystal River and would be a great site for the winter when the springs are filled with manatees.
Great location but limestone sites
The location and privacy is great .... but the tent sites are full of limestone rocks which actually damage the tents. I did mention to the host personally the next day upon inspection.
