Terrible experience host is rude
We did not stay here.
We let the host know what time we would be arriving and did not bring up any issue with that. Once we got to the site there was no signs to the camp. So disappointed on how this was handled. Not only from the host but also from customer service.
The host- wasn’t there, complained why we were coming at the time we did ONLY AFTER we had to find a hotel in the middle of the night on July 4th weekend, and said he spent his own money on gas to get to the site.
Customer service- was kind and understanding and still in the process with them to get a refund. I started my refund request on July 4th and still haven’t gotten any tangible process with it
What a beautiful property in the middle of nowhere! I loved it! The hard work and dedication is clearly seen throughout the property. The main cabin had a lot of fun stuff to do! The bathrooms were close to all sites! I caught a couple of fish in the pond which was fun! Craig, the owner was on the property and was super kind! Would definitely recommend!
Beautiful place !
Hi really love R Camp , the nature is so beautiful with a little art here and there ,is a really primitive camping with just very basics things, the host Craig, was very nice to us , he sat up picnic tables and recommend a better spot for us , we never need anything for the common area like the kitchen but we went there to visit and everything is so charming , I'll be back for sure to enjoy nature and relaxing time .
Wonderful place! Primitive camping but next level!
Craig was a wonderful host, great with directions, gracious with recommendations & overall just plain kind.
There’s a ton of firewood to burn around the property, so no need to buy any! Just be careful in the woods after dark (I’m a dummy and got chiggers, eeek!)
Overall a great spot, would be an awesome spot to camp with a larger group! I will definitely return.
Nice, welcoming little spot
My friends and I were looking for a long weekend away and it turns out we found the perfect spot! It’s a beautiful property and the center cabin/lodge space is awesome to have there. The hosts were in turns both very friendly and also happy to leave us to our own devices when we were doing our own thing. A very important balance in my opinion and they nailed it! We certainly plan on coming back sometime when the weather cools off.
I’ve been camping most of my life and this has been by far one of my favorite experiences. I went as a solo camper and not only did I feel safe, but I felt at home. Craig and his wife showed me around personally, which Craig built everything himself. Still can’t believe it! The site was fun to explore, friendly environment, and amazing/unique qualities. The lake has a dock to hang and relax, plenty of trees for hammocks, tons of shade, multiple trails, more than one outhouse, and water tanks! I don’t think you can find a campground like this, with the atmosphere they provide. 10/10 recommend. Will be back many times in the future!!
We decided to try to camp for the first time with our toddler, and we were having a hard time finding openings at normal campgrounds. I am so happy we found “R” camp! I didn’t want to camp in a place where we were on top of other people, so “R” camp was perfect. We actually went two weekends in a row! The campsites are sizable, and have nice shaded areas as well as a fire pit. We stayed in campsite 2 and there was a picnic table at that site, which was very convenient. We took our black lab, who I think had the most fun out of all of us. Craig’s property is fun to explore, and there are a little walking trails you can take right off the property. The campgrounds are also right next to a ranch, so you will hear animals most of the day and into the night, but we enjoyed that. If you are a light sleeper you may hear the roosters crowing all hours of the night though. The grounds have 2 compost toilet outhouses which were in good shape. Craig, the owner greeted us upon arrival and made sure we were all set. I highly recommend “R” camp!
Fun camp ground, close to miami
I stayed here on a couples weekend at campsite 3 (the best one if you ask me!), which included a fire ring, and lots of shade trees to camp under. The campgrounds are lush with trees and other vegetation.
The main cabin is super cute and from what I’ve learned, built by hand by the owner, Craig! It’s only unlocked when he’s on-site, so be sure to check it out if he’s around! He’s super friendly and gets a nice big fire going at the community fire pit in the evenings when he’s around. There are some trails nearby and the lake is just a short drive away. There’s also a volleyball court (no ball provided), a hand-made tree swing, and a little fishing pond to enjoy if you have fishing equipment.
My only complaints about our experience are as follows:
1) Both outhouses were lacking in hand washing supplies (hand sanitizer, soap/water) which obviously during a pandemic are very important when campers from multiple families are sharing just two toilets.
2) None of the campsites had a dedicated picnic table which made it very challenging to prep, cook, and eat our meals. This info would be helpful to see prior to booking so that guests will know what additional supplies they may need to bring.
3) Lastly, the property has a LOT of ants. Our entire campsite had several ant mounds and any time wearing sandals was risky, as the ants were not shy and doled out bites at their pleasure. Closed-toed shoes definitely recommended, and make sure to keep your tent zipped up at all times!
All in all, the site was cute, the grounds are nice. I’d definitely go back again, but next time I’ll bring my own folding table and a few extra chairs to ensure we aren’t prepping meals on the ground where the ants are!
