Peaceful, fun, easy
Our stay with Katie was more magical than I can begin to explain. She accommodated more needs than we even knew that we needed. We had a setback in our trip outside of our control and Katie and her partner really went above and beyond to help us and make us more comfortable then we already were. We can’t wait to return with them and give DC a redo! The place really was magical!
Surprise, there is dc camping!
This is probably the only camping option within DC. I was greeted by co host Rafael (super friendly!) and used their campsite. You get access to a bathroom and the shower was greatly appreciated. You also get to use a nice back yard which was just perfect to relax. It is urban camping so don't expect a totally quiet environment, but after a while the neighborhood quiets down. Overall, this was just what I was looking for and recommend DC Hiker/Biker Magical Nook Forest.
This sweet place epitomizes “hip” camp! It’s a.sustainability and simplicity focused oasis for cosmopolitan travelers of all ages and nationalities. Katie and Rafael are friends to all who journey here.
Affordable stay with amazing hosts
Magical indeed. Katie and Rafael are awesome, super friendly, accommodating, hospitable and suggested many places to go.. This place is truly beautiful as well. So much nature and beauty tucked away in a nice neighborhood just outside of DC. They have a little nook of a campsite looking over nature and a railroad. (Can be a bit noisy at night but they offer earplugs and all the other necessities). Cute lil patio tiki bar in the back with a nice lounging area and a fire pit. The metro is a ways but there are city bikes and busses that take you into the city. Just a short trot down the road is the National Arboretum which is a nice place. They also have an Airbnb which is a great option for bigger groups. The entire stay was such a great experience highly recommend for campers/travelers that are on a budget and who are looking for an affordable and magical place to stay.
Katie seemed like an excellent host. All the amenities were ready when we arrived, but then we had a minor emergency and weren’t able to stay. Katie was very understanding! We would recommend [name of campsite] to anyone who might enjoy relaxing outside in a lush and quiet corner of DC.
Super friendly hosts and a nice place to stay. Provided us with a lot of extra amenities that they did not need to out of generosity. It’s still in the city but will give you the feel of camping in the woods. 100% recommend staying here!
