OZ SKY RANCH

80 sites · RVs, Tents350 acres · Tamborine Mountain, QLD
Oz Sky Ranch is set on 350+ acres in the beautiful Gold Coast Hinterland, just outside of Brisbane at the bottom of Mount Tambourine near Canungra. We cater to adventurous souls, with a range of adventure tourism activities in and around our property. Try tandem hang-gliding and paragliding and a full range of hang gliding and paragliding courses or just bring your own stand-up paddleboards and kayaks. Our lake is lovely and clean and is great to swim in. We opened up our working cattle and turf farm to promote Hang gliding and paragliding, we believe the more people see it, then the more people may like to come for a tandem flight or learn to fly with us. You can buy a friend or loved one a gift of a life time. Tandem hang gliding gift vouchers are very popular, as you get to take off from the property and flyover you’re campsite and then up to 2500ft. Then come and land right next to your friends and family at the Oz Sky Ranch. We pride ourselves on keeping the property lovely and clean. We are also opening our home and farm to you. So please respect it and enjoy it as we do. We have 5 designated campsites positioned around the property. Within the designated sites, there are camp spots that we rotate. Please check with us to see what ones are open. We need to rotate the sites and rest them. This is how we keep them well-maintained and looking amazing. If it is wet weather we will close down sites and recommend other spots. We rotate the sites and rest them. Then they don’t get overused. We want our camp sites to look lovely for you. We pride our self’s on having a lovely property. If it is bad weather, we will recommend another site or we can give you a full refund. Campfires are allowed at designated camp spots when fire bans aren't in place. Firewood is available to purchase - see extras. We accept groups however we have strict rules around this, so please discuss with us first. If you are up early in the morning you may be lucky enough to see the best in QLD barefoot water skiers training on the lake and also tandem hang gliders getting towed up from the airstrip. All campers must check in before dark. We look forward to your enquiry.

Spiddal property 500 acre at the base of Tamborine Mountain. Spiddal was originally settled by Michael and Anne Yore (nee Ryan) in 1865. Both Michael and Anne migrated from Ireland as a result of the potato famine and uprising at that time. Anne sailed on the Erin-Go-Bragh (Ireland forever) in 1862 and Michael on the Fiery Starin 1863.On Michael's death in 1912 the farm passed to the youngest son Andrew Thomas who died at a young age of 33 in 1916. The Spiddal property was then held intrust until his son Thomas Patrick (TP) became of age in 1935. In 1966 TP transferred title of the property to the present owner Thomas John (TJ).Tom's son Denis 5th generation resides on the property and assists with the running of the farm. From settlement in 1865 the farm has been used for Primary production mainly dairy, pigs, hay and grain activities. They lived in peace with all the tribes adjacent to their own area. More importantly they were prepared to be friendly to the white man in the early stages of development, with respect shown by all. After continuing contact with the white man the tribe became commonly known as the Albert tribe.

Camp Canungra

5 sites · RVs, Tents50 acres · Witheren, QLD
This beautiful paradise is located in the Scenic Rim on the Gold Coast Hinterland and surrounded by World Heritage-listed national parks. We have 6 sites. Site 1 is very close to the quiet country road, very private, 5 minutes from Canungra village. Site 2 is a little harder to access and very secluded. We would recommend 4WD or AWD (especially when wet) for easier access, but not essential. Site 3 is a flat area, close to the homestead but still private, and is accessible for 2WD vehicles. Site 4 is an all weather site, for any kind of vehicle or camping rig/ equipment. Grass and gravel surface with a nice bush land outlook. Site 5 is a newly developed site. We would recommend a 4WD particularly after rain. Site 6 is a small level area amongst the trees, more suitable for a roof top tents, camper trailers, tents/ swags. Site allocation will be dependent on type of rig and availability. Please note- Due to damage from the recent tornado, site 3 and 4 are not currently available. There are no shower facilities, however camp toilets can be hired for $15 a night. There is a solar lit gazebo, picnic table and fire pit and drum on most sites. Most sites are equipped with water tank, sink and toilet tent. All areas are open and grassy, and great for games during the day. In the evenings you can sit back and enjoy the warmth of the campfire. People friendly pets are welcome, but must be tethered at all times because of our abundant wildlife. The best camping near Tamborine National Park guide

Overview

About

In the Gold Coast hinterlands, the forested plateau of Tamborine Mountain provides plenty of ways to get outdoors. Hike short trails through leafy woodlands and towering gum forests, cool off with a dip in the Cedar Creek Rock Pools, or trek to Witches Falls. Mountain viewpoints are found throughout the park, so pack a picnic to enjoy at one of the scenic picnic areas along the way, and keep a lookout for wildlife, including Australian brush-turkeys and Albert’s lyrebird. Camping isn’t permitted in the national park, but campers can stay in nearby Canungra or along the Gold Coast.

When to go

With warm temperatures year-round, hiking and outdoor activities are possible at any time in Tamborine National Park. In the summer, the hinterlands offer a welcome respite from the coastal heat, with average daytime temperatures around 25°C. However, showers are common from December through April, so pack a raincoat. The park is always open, but there is no access to the Cedar Creek section at night.

Know before you go

  • Tamborine National Park is located 80 kilometres south of Brisbane, about a 1-hour drive from either Brisbane or the Gold Coast. The main access points are via the Tamborine Mountain Road (not suitable for buses, trailers, or caravans) or Tamborine Oxenford Road.
  • You will need your own transport to explore Tamborine National Park, although tours and taxis are also available. Car parks are located throughout the park.
  • There are gas stations, shops, and restaurants located around North Tamborine town, on the outskirts of the park. Facilities are limited within the park itself, so bring everything you need with you, including plenty of water (drinking water is not provided in the park).
  • There is a strict fire ban within the park—gas and electric barbecues are provided at picnic areas.
  • The Cedar Creek walking track is accessible for wheelchairs, and there are accessible picnic areas at Cedar Creek, The Knoll, and Witches Falls.
